We went to an antique market in early 2024. The Garakuta-ichi Antique Market is held on the 7th of every month at Toji Temple in Kyoto and is a popular market that attracts visitors from all over Japan.
We too have been to many craft/antique markets throughout Japan, and there are many European antiques that are popular in Japan. However, this market is especially Japanese, especially tools, and is a favorite for us Japanese craft lovers.

Very interesting to see. I would spend lot of money there.... 😂 How did you understand the sword is fake so fast? Because of the connection of blade and handle? I heard its just a wooden pin..... How much were those kitchen knifes around?

As well as the care condition of the blade, the most important factor was the certificate, which is required by law for authentic swords in Japan, and these swords doesn’t have it. These kitchen knives were 1,500jpy or more.

I was told once that haggling on price of item is considered very rude in Japan. Is that true?

If it’s items made by someone then it’s not appropriate and rude to haggle but sometimes for used items or antiques you can respectfully ask for a discount
