I find his position towards Creator much more deep and elaborate than what Lawrence Krauss or Richard Dawkins are serving in the public debates.

The classical atheists really get it. They understand the significance of what they're doing. The new atheists as a rule haven't read any of the classical atheists or much religion. They study religion purely from guys like Hitchens. I actually like Hitchens, but I don't think he would be my only source on a subject that large. They think it's all down to hypothesis testing. Nor have they read much about the history or philosophy of science and they haven't read much science either. They just have this 'the-universe-is-made-of-material-objects' trip, which doesn't even match contemporary science. It's not like you can even discuss stuff with most of them, they're an ideology.

I find that what Pascal expressed through such sweet, beautiful, and profound words to be genius unparalleled. I would chose to believe all that he wrote and to live by the declarations and ideas which he so perfectly expressed... And this is precisely why I can not. It is too sweet, too beautiful, and too profound to be anything close to the truth. It reeks of humanity. Of the human heart, of human intellect and desire. How can it forgotten that no matter how earnestly we might desire it to be real, that any indisputable truth of purpose or meaning cannot be demonstrated beyond what we invent such concepts to be or to signify within our own thought lives? So then we are left with faith, and this leap I see no reason to make... besides desperation, of course.

Waffle ! Although of a fairly high standard. I suggest a course of study in Logic and / or Critical Thinking ? That would enable you to express your thoughts in a form that actually had meaning. ?

Is it superstitious to want life to have a point? As opposed to atheism summed up so eloquently as "life's a bitch, then you die", or more optimistically " he who has the most toys wins", of course Pascal saw through this when he wrote "the last act is bloody, no matter how fine the rest of the play."

@@hanskung3278 For me freedom and meaning are burdens I reel back from. It frightens me that life may have a purpose and also that I might be directing my own ship. Maybe I shouldn't be like that but I'd rather I exist for existence sake and that the direction of my life be fixed from the start, preferably in the hands of a being wiser than myself.
