One really cool way to go there (if you are in the Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, etc. area) is to take the little narrow gauge train from Aigle to Les Diablerets. It runs every hour and Aigle is right on the major train line connecting Geneva, etc., so within a very easy reach. That little train is more like a glorified street car and it starts by zigzagging through Aigle (the city) and then it begins climbing, a bit like the famous Montreux-Zweisimmen one, and then it goes through a short tunnel and... it's like entering a different world: mountains, gorges, snow, it's simply great. The ride is about 1 hour long, the train reverses direction in the middle (don't panic, you are not going back!). Once in Les Diablerets, hop on the post bus to the Glacier 3000 cable car station, it's just a few minutes' ride, and IIRC the bus is even synchronised with the train arrival so there is no big wait. The last train back to Aigle leaves Les Diablerets around 10:30pm so you can even stop for a dinner after the peak-walking.

Does that train bus operate end of April/start of May?

@@caesiumx1334 I would assume so, it's a commuter line serving local communities.

@@JanPBtest I have no clue, I'm trying to figure that out as well. I'd assume if you find the right one on SSB you could book there, but we can only take our best guess at which one Jan meant by putting in the starting and end points in search and hoping we get the right thing.

Just wanted to say that our itenerary in Switzerland came from your videos! I didn’t go up the gondola since I’m pregnant and they didn’t advise it for glacier 3000, but the restaurant at the bottom has fabulous service and good food ❤ Thanks for all the tips!

This is a bucket list place for sure, definitely on the list next time I am in Montreux. Is the toboggan suitable for someone with mobility issues? Not a wheelchair user but limited walking and using a stick due to fatigue and pain.

As a German who travels in Swiss often, I prefer. You can actually get outside and hike and walk on glacier here. Jungfraujoch experience is too much inside for me
