I've been silent for a few days because I wanted to pause and reflect about the issues affecting black women at work. I didn't want to post anything just to post, or say anything just to say anything.
This is the longest video I've ever created because racism at work is such a complex issue and I decided to create this video to share some of my insights on racism or racial bias at work.
I thought it made more sense to talk about racism at work rather than racism in general as my channel is mostly about careers.
In this video I share, my personal experience with racism at work, and provide some ideas for what companies can do to hire and create opportunities for black female professionals at work.
I also share some ideas on how black women can try to succeed in their career, even if their in an industry or role that doesn't have many black leaders.
I am anti-racist. I stand with and behind anyone that's been subject to racism. I have always cared about working with women who want to achieve their goals and will now make a particular effort to ensure my resources are relevant to black professionals who feel they have unique challenges to overcome when getting hired or trying to progress in the role.

Joy, your're like a breath of fresh air. I like and appreciate your Vibe. As a black Caribbean American woman living in Brooklyn, New York I've experienced many different aspects of racism, sexism, exclusion at work as well as within my own circles. I definitely connect with your positive and enthusiastic way of thinking. I would love to connect more. God has blessed you with a wonderful purpose and talent. 🙏🏽

Thank You for being so open on this topic. I’m dealing with this situation right now. It’s so painful and Overwhelming. It’s even more difficult when you don’t have a voice. Companies/Corporations know that We don’t have the Financial Capability to fight for Our cause so they continue to inflict this type of behavior on Us. Praying for a resolution.

Wow, first of all I truly appreciate you speaking on this issue from both a personal and professional POV. The videos you make have always helped me gain new perspective and this one is no different. Recently my workplace put out a survey on how they could be more diverse and inclusive and anti-racist, while I know they need to do better it was hard for me to figure out what exactly could be done at the top to help us at the mid and entry level (for context, I'm an Asian woman and the majority of employees at my workplace is white). This video definitely helps guide my response to that survey!
