How to make a career change when you have limited experience? Example, I work in veterinary medicine and I’m burnt out and I’ve been let go now two times within 7 years in this field. The only other experience I have is data entry, intake specialist and administrative and I’m not feeling that too much. Could you please offer some advice for me? I want to switch careers but I have no idea where to start

I'm trying to grow in this situation. My boss clearly isn't a fan of me, but he's about to retire, the culture in my department is garbage. I'm having such a hard time wanting to even try, because I'm getting that energy thrown back at me. Only been here a few months!!! But I'm trying to grin and bare it.

I’d argue a few things. 1. If you can’t decide if your accent is American or British, you can’t be taken seriously. 2. I lost my right hand man because she broke a policy and lost my store money. That’s her fault. Not the company’s fault. 3. Gossip happens. Literally everywhere. Normally, those who start the gossip or claim they are unhappy cause the issues themselves. When I look at cameras and it takes you two days to put away about 30 boxes is product while you’re scheduled for 16 hours, that’s an issue. You don’t get to say how miserable the job is when you don’t do you job. And steal. 4. A toxic situation is one where you try to communicate issues and they aren’t addressed. Plain and simple. Of course proper compensation is a must. But above all, you can’t solve problems if there is no communication.

Hi Michael, Thanks for watching. I'll respond to your points below: 1. My accent isn't something I "decided". English was not my first language. I was born in Lesotho (a country in Africa) and did not start speaking English until I was 5 when my mother married an Englishman. I was then taught British English by my stepfather and simultaneously sent to an American International School and was taught American English by American teachers in Ghana and Cambodia. I learned my first words, sentences and pronunciation of English from both cultures at the same time. It's not a conscious switch. After years at American international schools (and attempting to learn English quickly so I could keep up with native speakers), I forgot my native language and lost my African accent and developed a much richer American accent. However, when I moved to England when I was 9, British friends and teachers were very quick to correct my pronunciation and obviously spelling :) I then married an American. I hope this explains the mix. The mix can confuse people and I understand why. Most people have one accent, and there's a reason for that. My family, friends and subscribers that understand find it amusing. 2. Sorry to hear your right-hand man stole store money. Yes, that is her fault and dismissal in this circumstance is appropriate, though I imagine it is sad. 3. Yes, gossip happens in many workplaces. The issue with gossip is not "if gossip is present" but the severity of gossip across the entire workplace. For example, if a company has not handled an issue well (for example redundancy) and professional employees who don't have a history of complaining or gossiping appropriately feel this wasn't handled well, conversations will spread in pockets of groups across the entire organisation. If you look at a company like Glassdoor, companies that handle certain issues poorly upset many employees rather than one or two employees that are otherwise problematic in an organisation. 4. And yes, a toxic situation includes one where despite an individual communicating issues, they aren't addressed. Have a wonderful day

I honestly don't understand what's happening to me 😕 I will start my new job on Monday and I feel so scared, it's pretty much what I do, I'm not changing careers, but I will be working for a big distribution ( I work for a small business) I feel afraid 😨 maybe because I'm not enough? Also, I feel like I'm overthinking, The reason why I'm changing jobs is that in this company is a lady that is racist to me. I never felt good about this place. I'm being here for a year and 8 months. And somehow I got this opportunity I was 100% honest during the interview. I feel scared because English is my second language, and I'm still learning the language. I make mistakes when I'm nervous, I'm afraid to show that. I think the job is a big opportunity for me and I honestly don't want to lose it. That's why I decided to move forward. I just hope I will have enough strength and I will understand everything, I will make sure I prove to myself I can do this.

I hate my waiter job because, i quote “Can’t fold up my sleeves”. I know dress code is a thing but even after a time when the restaurant is not even busy and the area is hot I still can’t fold up my sleeves. It may not look like a big issue to others but to me it translates that I’m not free enough to fold my sleeves, and I love freedom.

Thanks for this video as it gave some very useful tips on getting through a tough period. I can't stand my job because it's not defined and changes almost on the daily. It's like someone telling you "make me something you think I'd like". This might be suited for some, but I prefer structure and defined expectations to measure success which this does not. Not to mention it's desk work (spreadsheets, manuals, emails) which is mind numbingly boring to me. Plus, it's pretty much amounts to nothing on being effective on anything. It's a make work position but it pays well. I think the solution (or at least bandaid) is to find a compromise by asking the boss for more structure and definition of expectations and focus on what doing these pointless tasks allows me to do by providing for my kids and having a somewhat decent life outside of the office. But it's a tough price to pay.

Shalam Malakah (Greetings Queen) I have taken the initiative by applying for admissions at American Healthcare of Science online, I hope to become a Holistic Wellness Coach within 15 months, I am just waiting for advisor to contact me. I have became more interested in holistic health because more and more people are susceptible to developing diabetes, heart disease, gastrointestinal issues along with various diseases due to their eating habits and lack of physical health, resulting in obesity leading to more people dying and America's enabling people's behavior by planting a fast food restaurant in every nook and cranny across America , I hope to establish my own wellness business, your video was very informative...Yah bless

Thanks for the video. My job is difficult right now because my boss micromanages everything I do, I feel extremely drained at the end of the day and the work doesn’t feel rewarding unfortunately. Thankfully, I work on a rotation so this job is very temporary, but I cannot wait for it to end. I like your tip on finding at least one thing to like about the job every day. I think I can start making a list to focus more on the positives!

Slow responses aren't always due to lack of interest. It depends who has to sign off on a budget, if any senior members are away etc. Many clients I've worked with have waited a week for an offer and it took a while to get it whilst key team members looked through the budget, discussed every candidate and put together a good package. I'd definitely not assume if they don't respond within 2 days, it's not for you. Not hiring manager has the power to act that swiftly even if they adore you

Toxic workplaces and the toxic companies that litterly STALKING THEIR EMPLOYEES on the jobs and even when not, Some when NO LONGER THERE!!!! The TOXIC company I QUIT had the nerve to call me four or five years AFTER I quit. YEARS AGO WTF!!!!!! LOL. SERIOUSLY no joke. I WAS LIKE WTF! NO THIS #@(&! DIDN'T CALL ME AN LEFT A VOICE MAIL. We was NOT FRIENDS When QUIT, I DID NOT LOOK BACK, . DIDN'T GO BACK DOWN THAT ROAD EVER AGAIN.... These TOXIC COMPANIES STALKING EMPLOYEES IS VERY REAL. Its happened to several people I know. When either QUIT, GOT LET GO, OR RETIRED. THESE TOXIC WORKPLACES STALKED FORMER EMPLOYEES. One person was a older gentleman he got stalked after they let him go on some serious lies. He was so MUCH HAPPIER TO GET OUT OF THAT JOB.. THROW OUT THE CERTIFICATES, THE UNIFORMS AND ANY OTHER THING THAT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THAT HORRIBLE PLACE AN ITS BAD MEMORIES, . DIDN'T MENTION AN DIDN'T LOOK BACK. DIDN'T GO BACK AND WAS MUCH MORE HAPPY......I know some people are sticking in toxic jobs for finacial reasons... THAT DOES NOT GIVE THESE TOXIC WORKPLACES AND COMPSNIES THE RIGHT TO INVADE PRIVACY AND BOTHER WHEN ITS BEEN YEARS, NO LONGER AT COMPANIES OR EVEN A EMPLOYEE. THESE TOXIC WORKPLACES ARE STALKING FORMER EMPLOYEES AND ITS TOXIC.
