Clash has only felt better as updates come out. They only improve the game over time, evolving from the classic clash gameplay without taking it away.

I mean I was 10 when I started playing clash of clans. I think the max TH was 10. Now I'm 20 and play the game pretty competitively. I enjoy having new updates and balances. Other games don't get the same amount of content that Supercell gives to CoC and CR. I appreciate it a lot. There's a lot more to do to entertain myself.

I don't understand when people say the game doesn't feel simple anymore when those lower town halls are still in the game, just create a new account, I do it all the time

My only issue is walls. The literal wall in the game, for a few main reasons: 1. Expensive to upgrade 2. Several troops originally could counter walls, such as fliers and wall breakers, now every new troop has to seem to be able to break, or jump over them. Hog Rider used to be special for this. 3. There are so many to upgrade

Yes I liked clash of clans a lot till th 8 it felt like classic clash but after it we get more features and greater townhalls have their own uniqueness and I think it misses its classic styles but it feels good

As a Clash veteran of 10 years, I didn't retire from clash just because it was different, I retired from clash because it was time to move on. I've seen all the ups and downs of this game from the extensively long army training time with spells, to the blue walls of th10, to my war moments against Galadon when he was in fullnightattack clan during the premier of the builder base. I've been through the Legend league ladder, became a leader of the Crimson Thieves and it progressed all the way to clan level 16. My base is a semi maxed th15. I started school a few months ago and I felt that clash is no longer a priority as I felt 10 years. Perhaps I outgrew the game or I am burned out. So I decided to leave my clan and returned to my original clan which is one of the oldest clans in the world to put my account to rest. I'd probably return just to talk to my old friends over at iFarm iWar, but to play the game further I would rather not. Clash is still a fun game but I think it's time to let it go for good.

Best at the same time worst feature was Global chat, despite its cons, it really made it feel like a social + strategy game, but removal of it has severely affected the social aspect of the game. When was the last time your clan had like 10 - 12 players online at the same time.

I honestly don’t think it’s gotten that complex like your saying. They are trying new things and I say it’s working. They are keeping it fresh and new so it doesn’t feel so bland and the same. Id honestly much rather be playing the current clash then the past clash. The current clash is definitely fun especially as you upgrade your village more and more. The more you go, more features you get. I don’t see how it’s complex when it’s all given to you slowly you know? The offers I don’t see that bad either, it doesn’t seem to “shoved down my throat” like clash royal. But this is just how I see the game currently 🤷‍♂️

Every single update in COC is a positive one except for the removal of global chat. This is the only game I think Supercell did a good job, I mean think of it, COC could've been as bad as Clash Royale, But it's all positive to me. You just gotta learn the new stuff that's it.

Honestly, I really like the grand majority of the changes made to the game. I like the Newtown home levels. I like that that also allows us to grind through lower Townhall levels faster and I like that they keep adding new content to the game that’s mainly targeted to the newer or higher level town halls, but you get access to this new content much earlier than they were designing it for After playing this game often on for the last 10 years but more on than off it still feels new and exciting I am a Townhall 14 and I’m very excited for the next update.

Overall imo, the game just is better nowadays than it ever has been. Remember not having enough loot to train troops? I expect builder base wars is next in some way or another, I hope that they combine the aspects of normal clan wars and cwl or come up with a new idea

whilst clash does feel different, i dont mind at all, its nice and refreshing to get updates that change the game yeah sure its a lot more complex, especially if your wanting to hit titans or even legends league, but complexity can be a good thing of course, having to think a lil more about strategy instead of throwing all your troops at one corner of the base in the early days (or well thats what i did, im sure there was strats at th 10 when that was the max) but with it getting constantly updated, it feels like a new game every time like for example, im returning to clash, when th 13 was the max suddenly theres 2 new townhalls, pets, builders repair during a defense and more and now th16 right around the corner, feels like a completely new game from when i left it

I recently came back to clash after 4 years..my god its so confusing and focused on money making for the company, Clash feels dead without global chat, thank you Tencents for makings that happen control the conversations means control of Power, global chat was the soul of socialising, Clash of Clan was fundamentally a fun social game not anymore, its soul taken out 😢

It's gotten way better. If you give it a chance and try to learn it's newer systems it's fun specially if you join a clan that supports you

Honestly it feels different in a better or worse way depending on what type of player you are. if your a player whose been continuously playing the game for the past many years you'll enjoy that they added a bunch of content, however if your a returning player which most people are since many quit the game on and off, your gonna have a worse time because there's just too much going on now and it feels terrible getting back into a large mess of new stuff thats so complicated.

at this point some people will hate anything good coming into any game. they will criticize anything and wont be happy. i personally think new th16 is perfect and have only 1 complain which is obviously the theme and that doesnt even matter in terms of gameplay. i loved this game from the past and its still one of the mobile game masterpiece for me as i can play anytime i want and best of all, its not addicitng at all, just a beautiful and chill game. Changes could be "frightening" but i see this new features as positive and cool I play Gods Of Olympus which dosent have any wait time to build or upgrade, at first it feels great but afterwards it sort of looses the magic CoC is that game that brings me back to play over and over and i remember the love i have for it

From CoC perspective if they don't keep on to innovate they will loose old players who are playing since decade. The starting THs however are simple enough to keep newbies hooked to it.

I believe the most important thing in coc is getting that 3 star and upgrade your base to the max. When th10 was still the max, it was almost impossible to get that 3 star, it was the most complicated attack strategies that got the victory. There was no lavahound for laloo, inferno towers prevented healing wich screwed the hogs plus no queenwalk, miners and bowlers didn' exist, no siege machine, dark spells were not there yet, pekka was only lv4 and the dragon lv4, freeze and lighting had the same housing space as the other spells so you couldn't take 5 freezes with you beside your two rage spells, clancastle had no donation spell either. Th10 was a nightmare back then

As someone who is coming back to the game after a 7 year break…the game feels WAY better than it used to. Idk as a town hall 10 it feels amazing to have so much extra stuff/content. And I’m just excited for the additional things as I grind

As a person who like just logged on into my old account in 4 years and im at th 10 its still the same tbh just longer waiting times and more competitiveness which im fine with cause at the early th levels are for like casuals or kids but as we progress we grow up aswell and also take breaks from it and as we grow up we kind of more like getting more competitive and can take a hard challenge and we have more patience now and plus now we're grown up we dont have a lot of time for coc but its why we can just check it once a week cuz of how long the upgrades are

I remember being 8, town hall 12 just came out and I was playing clash royale, my little cousin introduced me to clash of clans, at the time I didnt understand anything but I played more and more and soon, I got addicted, back then there were no hero skins, army camp and laboratory were larger and everyone spent their gems instead of collecting them, but now town hall 16 is announced, the game has become more different and better but its doesnt have the same feeling as before, still a very good game though

I think one of the problem, that should be mentioned is the fact, that upgrading feels less and less effective. Upgrading your Queen to lvl 72 will give her +1% dmg and 1% health. Hooray? Like, spending a week to farm, and a week of waiting for upgrade for 1% of stats? Pets, that on th14 are mych worse than th15's. And now we have abilities, which we will update separately from heroes. And let's talk about walls. Lvl10 super wallbraker deals 13k dmg to walls if being killed and 17k dmg if use his attack. Lvl 15 wall has about 12500 hp, which is anyway less. Then we have earthquake, that deal dmg in %, new king ability, that is basically 4 EQ, 2 heroes, that jump about walls, jump spell, that last for 2/3 of fight, and siege machines that absolutely destroy or ignore walls (instead of barracks). At the end we got an op root riders that on lvl1 easily destroy max lvl walls. Not even spending a sec, they just go through. + Air troops, + hogs/miners. What the reason to upgrade walls? Nowadays very popular strategy is to make holes in your walls, so bombers go around them waisting time, but still here we are paying 9 000 000 for 1 wall.

I think that is extremely important. Because training troops and attacking over so many years make it boring hence clan games raid capitals cwl feel really good. Also especially for maxed out players it keeps something to look upto

I was feeling that the game didn't feel the same anymore in this update, I don't know why I felt like this, I just felt it out of nowhere.

I love the changes, I have being playing this game for a long time and I love it.

The new updates may be a little complicated to newer players but the players who already are in coc like us may not feel bad, rather we'll fell good. But still for new players Supercell is making the older part easier. I mean i started coc in 2020, then i felt getting to th8 easy. But with newer updates they bought cost and time reductions and also sometimes new things( like hero equipment in recent update) which made it easy to get to even th10. So getting updated isn't bad in my opinion.

I played COC back in 2016, sadly i lost my account for some reason, i was TH 8 back then and its painfull to restart it all over again for me... Seing the TH 16 update i decided to play it again 2 days ago, i just like the merged building for no reason, its look cool for me... Spending $2 for the spceial ofer and discount i had, thanks for the builder boost and builder jam event i managed to upgraded to TH 7 with maxed wall doing all i could before the hammer jam ended... would be great if i play it 2 weeks ago when the event started lol... but i like it, doesn't feel overwhelmed by all the new feature so far...

I never understood why it felt so diffrent but i felt like what you said describes it perfectly. That the game lost its stoneage theme. I think thats why o love TH14s design so much. it could very well be in the stoneage but maybe inm another place of the clash world

I feel like the game grows with its players. Back then in early 2010s, most of our lives were so much simpler (especially if you’re under 30 right now) and so was CoC.

If the game was a simple today as it was at launch it would have died ages ago. Any game will grow complex over time, that said, the devs have done a great job improving the interface for simplicity. I have tried much simpler games with menus inside menus inside menus, hell I deleted a game I really liked simply because it had so many menus that I would usually have to go over all of them to find the option I was looking for

The only thing I miss is the spam armies. I don’t like to think when I attack.

I think the game had changed a lot, but I think the main reason I for one look back fondly of the old clash days is nostalgia. Everything was just more magical as I knew so little about the game and I looked forward to learning all I could. Now I’m a max th15 player who has gotten 6k trophies before. I pretty much know everything about the game. Nothing really feels new anymore

I played around 2015 and 2016 when clash was popping off but eventually lost interest because of long upgrade times. I recently re downloaded and started playing again and the game is so much more enjoyable now. Now I have multiple accounts that I play daily and it's alot of fun.

Everything Supercell has done with clash since the "Golden Age" has been a positive for the most part aside from the removal of global chat The game has always wanted you to spend money to speed up upgrades/troops literally everything. the game has actually gotten even more FTP friendly with the additions of CWL, clan games, Events that give out books etc. and while Special offers can't be viewed FTP Friendly as your spending money its a much better alternative for the people that want to spend the money, its worth getting that book of hero's for 1$ rather than spending 10$ to gem it

if you start a new base now, all of the early townhall levels are trivially easy and absolutly not fun. its so bad that you barely attack at all because your storages and clan castle are just packed full of loot consatly because upgrades arent expensive enopugh for how long they take

=in my opinion i feel like making the game more content/overwhelming is a good thing because the game concept is about building a base and it can be very repetitive and some new features like raid medals you can buy so much loot and it can be very easy to level up without it i wouldn't be maxed out at Th12 the walls are just to damn expensive i know what you mean by your video but the whole new capital clan thing clan wars just made it really enjoyable to play because there was just a lot of loot to get cause the higher you go the more expensive these buildings get and i know there's a shit ton of offers in the shop but that doesn't have to be bought because with all the loot that you gain for raid medals clan war league clan games treasury is just absurd in a good way.

Change is good especially for a game that uses time as main component. However, they releases so much changes at a short amount of time causing casual and returning players to be overwhelemed. The new updates regarding TH 12 and up could have been prolonged for a span of 10 or more years. Nonetheless it is about the developers keeping the game alive as long as possible resulting to lower upgrade time as a compensation.

After 2020 the only best permanent update is 1. Removing army training cost 2. Adding extra life to heroes 3. Challenge and attack own TH 4. Able to buy CC troops with raid medals 5. Pets for heroes Rest are ruined games for average clash lover but it's fun for hardcore fans

I think it had to feel different to an extent to evolve with the times. But the most recent update is the only update I’ve ever been really concerned about. Hero equipment is a huge cash grab and kind of ruins the integrity and reward of maxing out your hero lvls which a lot of people pride themselves on including me. Your hero abilities are worse now than they were before the update. You have to upgrade a few lvls just to get back where u were before update

i'm actually one of those that started to play in 2014 and quit i guess in the end of 2015. but the reason is different... there were some sort of plugin with which you could simulate your attack on the opponents base in the war (but without defensive cc and traps). somebody could say that it was cheating, but i was hoping actually that plugin to be as official in-game feature... for everybody. you know.... at that moment the game was much more harder than know, it was more like th15 at release before nerfs. so even doing simulations it was quite hard to find the right sequence of actions which will lead to 3star, and even after that still it was not 100% that it will work the same as in simulations, (cannot predict how traps and cc will change the outcome, and also the fact that sometime (for example )dropping the queen with 1 tile difference could lead to a different output). and for me it was interesting the process of such simulations. and without that i had no interest to play the game, it was more like dropping the army in some sort of way and just hope to have the luck to make a 3s. supercell gave to a lot of people temporary preventive ban ( those using that plugin) but i continued to use it, so received a permanent ban, and hapily forgot about this game. and seeing that drops in your chart, i guess there were much more people like me. 2 years ago, driven by melancholy on old games that i played, i started to play again... and now all these th16 changes give me the same vibes as in 2015. its just a little different.. before i was afraid that 3stars will happen only based on luck praying to the god of Random. so no possibility to play a strategy game..... and now it will be like - you can 3stars almost with anything, so everybody will do it, and again no interest to play such a game... already decided that i will no longer spend money on this game. and actually i feel betrayed after all those money spent mostly on heroes...and right know, silently like it was not enough all other nerfs of defences... they also made hero potion to give not +5 levels but to maximize them - so almost every rusher could 3s you.

Its funny to think that people criticize the game for change. This game has existed for a decade and its quite obvious to assume that changes will be made that would add more layers to the gameplay as you progress through the levels. This is especially true for COC, as at every townhall, you will find gameplay that builds onto the previous townhall and it never really feels overwhelming because the game revolves around the level at which you are currently at. This means that the "normal" player will usually not have to deal with the said "complexity" unless they actually decide to commit to the game to earn that level where complexity starts kicking in (which isnt until th13-14 because of the extra hero and pets). I dont think a player that is willing to commit years to get to that level would be complaining about extra content that makes the game more interesting. There is a reason for why this game remains successful to this day. The early game usually just receives quality of life changes that cant be criticized for the most part. Any additional changes to the overall game (such as capital hall and builder base) wont negatively affect the main village. The game for most of the players still remains simple and interesting. Maybe the addition of the blacksmith seems complex, but come on, who doesn't want more hero abilities to add to the boring legacy ones that we have had for a decade now. To sum it all up, the game never forces the player to adopt to a change that would make it overly complicated. You are in control and always have something to work towards.

For me its because the game gets really slow in the higher town halls and it gets expensive. Im at that point where everything takes more then a week to upgrade and cost millions of gold and elixer.

Clash of Clans' evolution is quite comparable to Minecraft of all things. Both games have a definite "classic" and "modern" era, each with unique mechanics, progression, and vibe that feels quite different between each game. This would naturally create a divide since some prefer the simpler times while others like the nuances and complexities of the current times, and it is fascinating how both were games that peaked in 2014-2015, had a slight dip in popularity from 2016-2018, and are now in the middle of a so-called renaissance era. That is just me though, I wonder if anyone else noticed this trend.

Meh I’m loving this game more than Ever tbh. Especially love the new hero gear as well as the TH weapon. Along with super troops it bumped up old troops and made them useful again. Everyone has their opinion of course but I love what there doing. I rarely spend any money on the game either I only ever do the pass if it has a good skin for the hero that’s about. So pretty free to play and I play regularly

Tbh COC is too unbalanced right now like attackers always win attacks while base builders are struggling to make bases that can actually defend itself New unbalance troops are added every year making the defensive side very difficult

I agree with most of your analysis. I think the latest update is a last desperate effort to save the game and make it more offensive friendly. Now would be a great time to practice financial discipline and go 100% FTP because the rewards for spending money on gear, defense, pets, heroes, will not make you a better player

I honestly think the biggest thing that killed the game for me was the removal of global chat and let me explain why. I would spend hours on the game talking to people and making friends while also donating and thinking of way to build a clan together. It would give me hope that I can come back to the game and sometimes see my clan mates, or if nobody was online I would stay in global chat. I would sometimes spend hours on clash that the game would kick me out and tell me to take a break. The game isn’t entirely about chatting to people, but it is part of what made the game fun. I did stop playing clash of clans once clash royale came out and just switched to that game (even when global chat was around) then when I heard global chat was getting removed.. I immediately went back to clash after a long break to see the entire global chat talking about it getting removed. It made it feel sad like those players were going away and we were being separated forever. I was sort of lost and didn’t know where I could find a good clan and had to check places like Reddit, KZfaq or discord. Even doing that took you away from the game and you made friends outside of clash and played other games together. From 2014 til now I took long breaks but since 2023 I manage to stay playing the game constantly again, the only difference is help in wars, donate and upgrade a building that takes days.. so after that I usually end up getting off the game and I don’t have conversations with clan members. We will talk about the clan, wars and help with donating but that’s it. What started as me making friends and playing a game together with them became more of just being in a clan with people and having to be serious about wars and donating all while usually seeing max 1 or 2 people online. Global chat wasn’t always the best but it was always there whenever you got on and getting on clash now is just you focusing more on building something and logging off. Don’t get me wrong I managed to find my love for this game again and been playing it like how I use to back then but I just had to mention how global chat being removed made me spend less time on the game and it made it almost impossible to recruit new active players.

One thing I don't like is the clan capital. It feels out of place, and I have not really found interest in it. I'm sure some people do, but I am not that person.
