Love watching you guys. I am a Veterinarian and many toy dogs are predisposed to chronic patellar laxations because their patellar groove is genetically very shallow. The reduce it themselves, and the owner usually reports while running, they stop and stick their pelvic limb straight back. It's very dramatic. Thank you for an always interesting and enjoyable video!!

I dislocated both knees in the late 70’s from various sports. The first event, my friends took me by car to the ER. The E R Dr. drugged me and quickly straitened my knee which broke my leg. The first knee surgery they did not use orthoscopic surgery. So I have a lengthy scar and a pin in my leg from the bone breaking. The ortho Dr told me to always request an ortho Dr to put the knee back in place. After all the surgeries, I participated in sports for 30 years and never had a dislocation again.

Bravo! I have been through surgery to fix both my patellas at 45 at 47 year old. Last surgery was at May 31th. My whole life I was living falling everywhere and with great pain and I ruined my both knees. Now I am trying to prolonge my future total knee replaicment. And that is a hell of a job. More videos about patellas I would appreciate. Thank you.

Dislocated kneecap- the most painful thing I've ever done. Kneecap was on the outside of the left side of my leg- leg was swollen down to the ankle and turning purple. Doctor drained over 100 ccs of blood from my knee in ER. Had reconstructive surgery- was in a cast and braces for 6 months. This was over 30 years ago- horrible arthritis now. Need a knee replacement

I love you guys and tell everyone about your channel. The insight into the thought processes behind treatment are amazing. I come from a family of runners, firefighters, farmers and TEACHERS. I don't think too many people recognize the amount of time a teacher is on their feet on concrete floors. It seems silly but their problems are often just as bad as the others. Keep up the great work!

As someone who has had this happen many times, even had "lateral release" surgery, it is one of the most painful things to have happen. Last time it happened I was going up for a layup in basketball and came down, and out she went. Sore for many days after. Thanks for talking about this.

really good information. Not often it's ok for a non-Dr to do something to fix it. Sounds like the trick is to get someone in a huge amount of pain to relax!

My knee used to lock up bent and it hurt so bad. My parents would gently straighten it. Hurt so bad to do then didn’t hurt after a few minutes.

A man was an ardent motorbike scrambler competitor. During the succession, he had an accident. His lower leg was at right angles sideways to his thigh. The UK NHS solution was to freeze his knee joint, doing away totally with his knee joint. That's when his extreme sports insurance came into action. A surgeon in the UK over many operations rebuilt his knee joint. Now he walks normally.

Both my knees would dislocate in the early 70’s about the age of 12. This would happen as many as 10 times a summer the doctors back then said I was just loose ligaments and I’d grow into them, fast forward 10 years while climbing a ladder at work and it went out and I fell. The ER referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon and he was so confident my ligaments would just stretch again he over tightened them and after researching it he diagnosed Ehlers Danilos. 7 surgeries later trying to repair the damage I got a full replacement at age 50.

My Grandson dislocated his knee during martial arts training at 14 and has had it pop out twice in the 5 years since. He can't afford surgery but has learned how to protect against it.

I have Ehlers-Danlos hypermobility type. My kneecaps started partially dislocating (subluxation) when I was very young. It would happen now and then, depending on my leg and knee position. To prevent this from happening, I knew I needed to strengthen the muscles surrounding the patella. I’ve had no subluxations) in 40 years! Of course I still need to be careful of leg positions (e.g., no deep knee bends, being careful getting up off the floor).

I dislocated my patella by ice-skating about 20 years ago. It also came with a large comminuted fracture and a large vertical fracture. I didn't even have surgery and my surgeon said my body put itself back in place better than he could have done it surgery. It was in an immobilizer for seven months. PT started at about 4 weeks. I now have some arthritis beginning, chrondomalacia. Lots of IT-band problems. Plus, something like trauma scoliosis. Being on crutches for so long. My knee was displaced by a range of 4-5 mm. Knee replacements were still in trial basis. Surgeon didn't want to do surgery with one because there was no record on how they would holdup. Now the surgeons know.

My sister dislocated her patella by picking up a piece of paper off of the floor. Apparently tore off a small piece of cartilage. It would move around and get stuck every so often causing pain. 30 years later, she went to the doctor about it, had the piece removed, and no problems since.

If I was still young, I'd be afraid of this condition now. But I've never heard of it before. I'd demand some "milk of the poppy". Is it realistic how in movies a tough guy like Ronon Dex from Stargate yanks his own shoulder into place with great pain? The microphone transmission occasionally gets really quiet and grainy. Maybe the level hovers around a noise gate.

Of all the videos, this has made me feel the most peculiar. 🤢 Kudos to Miss Weening. Miss Harrison would want sedation, thank you very much. Since early man, we have always run and jumped, so I wonder why the body has not evolved to have more stable kneecaps?
