We didn't have the Disney channel until we got satellite in mid-late 89. We moved into the house in late 1988, but didn't have anything other than regular TV for about a year. Now, when we were living in the apartments we had cable, but Disney channel wasn't part of the lineup. We had all the other common cable TV channels though (like HBO, USA, TBS, Nickelodeon, and MTV).

I remember Gizmo being a big deal! And watching the special!

I vaguely remember the Railway Dragon. Been forever since I've seen it, but I remembered liking it when I was little.

I remember this version of DTV! Wow, haven't heard this in years.

Where I live, we didn't have cable TV until the late 1980s. The Disney Channel wasn't part of the basic lineup. But there were times when I could watch that channel whenever it had a free preview (you would need a cable box to view it). In the '90s I was willing to use my money to pay for the channel while my dad would pay the rest of the cable bill with his money. About a couple of years later (I think I've subscribed to it for 2 years) I decided to do away with it because it doesn't always meet my interests. When it became part of the basic line-up in the late '90s, I haven't watched it like I did when I've subscribed to it. I think my time of subscribing to The Disney Channel must've been within *the best* years.

I came across channel thanks to the Black Nerd's Twitter account and I'm glad i found this channel. I grew up in the late 80's-90's so this is pretty much memories for me

I taped a good bit of the 1998 Pup named Scooby Doo Marathon from Halloween and taped over it a few years back. How could we have been so stupid?

I heard that 20th Century Fox is part of the Disney Family now. Also, if I remember correctly. 20th Century Fox Films has a few Films with Dinosaurs & Dragons. Now that 20th Century Fox is with Disney, Touchstone & PIXAR, I think Disney needs a Modern “Dragons & Dinosaurs Festival”. Especially even better than before in the 1980S.

My sister's 10th birthday!

I love watching these, nowadays Disney Channel just isn't the same, in the past it used to be tgat they'd have something for everyone. I'm 16 and I still remember when Disney was still fun to watch, sure I do admit tgat I liked maybe one or two shows probably, but all in all it seemed to have lost something, I can't put my finger on it but I know that somewhere along the line it wasn't there anymore.

Dragon's and Dinosaur festival was one of my fave things on the Disney Channel. I think it was on Disney but there was a movie about some kids that built a pleseisaur or dinosaur from a bike and sailed it on the lake on foggy nights. Does anyone know what this movie was called? I've been trying to remember and can't find it anywhere. I could have sworn it was on Disney. There were several great live action movies I watched back in the 80s that I can't remember the names and can't find when doing searches. Please if someone could help.

I think Disney lost its magic when the channel went from a premium channel to basic cable. They got rid of EVERYTHING that wasn't aimed at preschoolers (Playhouse Disney) or Tweens (everything that isn't Playhouse Disney). I remember when they had the pre-school shows for kids, the older Disney Afternoon cartoons for older children, sitcoms and movies for teens adults, and Vault Disney for adults. Something for everyone.

Wow...this was from back when The Disney Channel was actually CLASSY. Today, it's so lowest-common-denominator and dumbed-down, it's unbelievable. Not to sound elitist or anything, but it's clear that things went downhill the minute they decided to switch the channel over to a non-premium basis.
