Disney wants Gina Carano's lawsuit tossed out, claiming she mischaracterized "that thing that happened to certain people in WW2." However, Disney-owned National Geographic literally says the SAME THING Carano said, as if it's actually (GASP) historical fact. Carano was fired by Disney over tweets, and Disney is now claiming its their First Amendment right to fire her for whatever reason they wanted to.

These guys need to realise it's not just AMERICA that's angry. That is my thought too. Disney doesn't want to have to fire Kennedy and this is the very type of case that can force them to do just that. As bad as Kennedy is for Lucas Films, they don't have a single backup to take her place. There is no plan B. So they keep her around. Disney's worse fear isn't bad content, it is no content. And if you kick Kennedy out they know it will take probably two yeas to get Lucas Film back on track producing any major content.

I agree. Although they ticked off the fan base when they fired her, it is how they did it that became the legal problem. I don't think Disney wants this to go to Discovery. And I think they did an internal audit on their own records which is why they waited so long for the dismissal. Either that or they just simply had to deal with the Florida stuff first. And then they refocused on this lawsuit. Although I wouldn't put it past Disney to do evidence destruction, I also think they know that internally it was probably spread out so destroying it all would be near impossible to do. Because the last thing they want is an email or a meetings minutes being exposed after the fact and Disney didn't produce it.

@@sorbabaric1 Yeah, it is not the damages to be awarded that Disney fears. It is just the bad PR that would specifically target their senior leadership that they want to avoid. Iger doesn't want them to have to justify keeping their key players after the lawsuit because then that just opens the door for more lawsuits. And Disney has to justify keeping people who acted in bad faith working when previously they terminated people for less.

I hope win or lose gina doesn't allow disney to make this go away by accepting an out of court settlement. The amount of damage she could do to disney by allowing it to drag out in court for as long as possible is a greater punishment than just taking a big pay off and go away silence settlement. Plus it could encourage other disgruntled actors to come forward (johnny depp) and file a suit agajnst disney for unfair trestment

It's not that Disney wants it dismissed - they don't have cause to get it dismissed. They want to draw out the legal process with as many delays as they can insert. Make it as expensive and painful as possible, and if able, don't actually yield the case until sometime after 2124.

Disney wouldn’t show her Running with Bear Grylls episode and when they did, they wouldn’t put her name in the description. I was waiting for that episode and had to guess that the unnamed person in one of the episodes was her because everyone else listed in the season had their descriptions on each episode.

Isn't there actual proof of this? What was said and what wasn't said? If so then disney has no chance to prove their claim. Since the wording does not support their claim.
