Never mind that the showrunner has doubled down on The Timeless Children, or that The Doctor will apparently be doing more singing and dancing in a variety of skirt. No, you don't like it because he's Black. That's the defense.

@@Musicradio77Network Thing is, apart from Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy, that movie was crap too. But at least it wasn't propaganda. It was just a badly written movie that was carried by McCoy and McGann. I actually like that McCoy's regeneration was so anticlimactic - it's fitting because even the always prepared 7th Doctor couldn't anticipate a completely random act of violence that had nothing to do with him - and he sold every moment of it before McGann did the heavy lifting for the rest of the flick.

This was my hobby that I found in 90s when I was depressed because I was in my early teens and strugling with autism and I found a show that was my thing. I made covers for my vhses, I chatted with the restoration team, I started my own website where i reviewed episodes and wrote fan fiction, I made friends through the show when I had always strugled with that. Then it came back and they told me there was no place in my hobby for me anymore.

@@sqwalnoc oh god that episode was a giant travesty. as somone who lives in the south US she was done very and i mean very dirty. The only way you can really do a rosa parks episode is straight to the point documentary style. Eg if they wanted to explore the event from multiple angles without embelishing like they did in the episode it would have been much better. Tho drwho is really not the correct media format for a rosa parks dive. It really should be left up to the history channel.

Well before then. I would say when David Tennant took over it deteriorated with increasing speed with each "new" doctor. Mind you Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy where fu#kwits as well. Tennant is a weird case because in some ways he was good but in so many ways his tenure saw erosion of important past rules and frankly it was far too repetitive too much scene eating screaming dialogue. The source of the problem was RTD who is a bit of a hack. A successful hack but a hack none the less. Torchwood was terrible. The Canadian Queer as Folk was so much more enjoyable than the acerbic bitchy cynical UK origin show by RTD. Gatwa is just beneath contempt. A dull Influencer type with no vision beyond stereotypical scene screaming with zero imagination beyond "rainbows!!!" or Yass Qween. Yawn. Gatwa is the Sunak of BBC TV. As useless as b00bs on a bull.

The Doctor is at his core a straight, white, British male. Making the Doctor female, black, brown, or gay is fundamentally changing the character into something else. Literally not the same character anymore. It's absurd that they won't let an American (Joe Hill) be a showrunner for Doctor Who on account of not being British (even if he has British ancestry), but they will allow a Rwandan (Mcuti Gatwa) be the Doctor himself. How can an alien character be "British" in the first place? Also, these "straight, white British males" having played the part are all different in age, regional origin and the way they played the character. Maybe the creators _did_ imagine the Doctor as an elderly man, but who could have imagined at that time that they`d have to change the main actor after three years?

many of us Dr. who fans are beyond angry because of the whole "timeless child" episode. They pretty much abused the fact that the show can play with time to retcon the work of many writers over 50+ years of work. to put this into star wars perspective it would probably be like if KK setup a movie or show that completely retconned Mortis or subjugated it for the sake of "the message"

@@NoahGooder I've always hated it when the writers retcon anything and use any kind of reason to do it. It lessens the impact of the story and only convolutes what was already established. Plus, it's very disrespectful to the people who came before to make a show or film. I don't know why these pretenders are so hateful towards the source material that they're given to adapt or continue, but it feels very intentional. Like they want us to buy into what they are selling. It's part of the reason why I walked away from a lot of things.

@@tjjordan4207 one possible excuse/reason ive seen thrown around for why they hate is because by virtue of it being old makes it problematic. another one that kind of piggybacks off the previous excuse/reason is because it was originally made by mainly cis wyt male groups. Both kind of blend into the whole "the content must be remade to reflect the world we live in".

We have gone from David Tennant's doctor, standing in a bathrobe, banishing an entire species under pain of Destruction after having just killed their leader in a sword duel. They've reduced this character to putting on hot pants, and then threatens to his ass at the villain. In neon is right Idris Elba certainly has the gravitas to play the doctor. I can certainly see him pulling off turning an army away with the look of his eye. My God somebody find me an actor, I've got this great idea for a part. Maybe some huge pocketed fan could start a show similar to the doctor. Just like the Oroville is allegedly similar to another unnamed franchise. If they're just going to leave the ideal laying there somebody should grab it and run with it.

We live in a world of self-obsessed celebrities and no-talent egotist writers who can't accept criticism so they're just calling people childish names. When I look at Doctor Who I see an old TV show, desperately out of ideas, relying on silly gimmicks and attention-grabbing "controversy" to cover the complete lack of storylines or interesting characters. I endured all of Whittaker's first series, including the we-at-the-BBC-hate-Christmas-bah-humbug special. If it had been any good I would have continued watching it. Like Eastenders, Have I Got News For You and Casualty, it's a show I stopped watching for the simple reason I thought it was past its use-by date.

They won't go bankrupt since BlackRock is just a company all countries send their pension funds to so they can make it grow. We are not "malfunctioning" (We are not Cyber"people" or Daleks) because of change. For me, it was the horrible writing that sent me away. I gave 13 (technically 14, or was it 15/16 depending on regen counts, whatever number JW was) a solid try, coming back several times. But it was so vapid, empty, and preachy that it did not feel like Who at all.

@@user-id6ld8cr2l Steven Moffat was the one who saved it. I had my problems with both of his eras but the man was the GOAT of New Who. He's the only Doctor Who showrunner since the Classic era who actually cared about the show just for its own sake instead of because he could use it as a platform.

Actors or others working on shows and movies calling people racist or sexist or homophobes or transphobes or whatever they might come up with, causes me not to ever bother with the shows or movies. The showrunner now is intentionally ruining Doctor Who but the audience, some which have been around for decades, are the problem if they don't like it....... I look forward to hearing that Doctor Who is finally canceled.
