Fun fact: Oswald made quite a few cameos in the 2013 'Mickey Mouse' series. In the episode 'Canned', you can actually see Mickey throw Oswald in the trash. It's the clearest view you get of him.

You forgot to mention that in the 8 minute special video made by Disney for their 100th year anniversary they made sure Oswald made an appearance as Mickey mentions him in the ending.

Well, since Oswald just indisputably became Public Domain this year, it'll be interesting to see how they handle bringing back the character when the general public can too. Maybe that's why they brought Oswald back when they did, as a sort of test for what may happen when the same happens to Mickey next year.

So I found out about Oswald back in like 2013, and I was just enthralled. It was like this tiny piece of nearly forgotten history that I just so happened to be a witness to. Of course, he was starting to regain some semblance with the appearance in Epic Mickey, but he was still kinda unknown at the time. So when we went to the parks in 2015, I went all in with pins, t-shirts, the ears, pretty much anything I could find with him on it. I even went out and bought the Walt Disney Treasures DVD set of all the surviving shorts. But I didn’t really hear much about him again until the last couple months. I was really happy to see him again in marketing, and I was excited to see audience reactions to him. But now I’m at the parks again, and it seems like everyone is wearing Oswald ears, shirts, buying merchandise, etc.. So, I’m thinking that maybe some people just Jumped on the bandwagon of a seemingly new character, without realizing the importance of his story in terms of the whole history of the company. So I hate to be that guy, but I loved Oswald before it was a trend.

Epic Mickey was a massive part of my childhood too, I was too young to understand the game for the longest time, but finally when I turned 13 or so I understood it well enough to complete the game, and it felt like I had earned my way to maturity.

I loved that game so much as a kid. To this day, I think back to that boss fight whenever I see the tower and Oswald is my favorite Mickey Mouse character.
