I think the big part of Gretchen is that she seems to be extremely smart but she's still confined to the ideologies of being a kid. I.e. in the episode C-note, she still doesn't really understand the value of money. It's also a bit different since kids see parents as parents and not entirely as people like them at that age.

Carrie Webb recess is the worst show for consistancy. The digger kids are portrayed as twin brothers in some episodes, and just friends in others. Prickly and finsters personalities and attitudes are never consistant through out episodes, or with the movie, both before and after it was released. Theres a secret underground hangout room for 5th and 6th graders to hang out, but lawson and his pals seem to only find out about it when he's in 6th grade, and TJ and the rest are in 5th grade, its the only place where 5th and 6th graders hangout, despite the fact that lawson and all the 5th and 6th graders are always on the playground. I could go on for days with the inconsistancies, it just seems to be a classic cartoon series where they just hit the reset botton after every episode.

This is one of my top favorite episodes of Recess. TJ and Spinelli do make a cute couple. They pretended they didn't like it, but the music, the background, and the way they looked at each other and giggled before catching up with the others says it all. They enjoyed the kiss. I can tell they already had at least a small crush on each other even before this.

For someone who uses scientific terminology, Gretchen does a good job of ignoring the Scientific Method. First, she says kissing defies the laws of nature (no research). Then she says that using friends is the only way they will trust their findings (bias).

Two questions (just in general, not to the poster lol): 1. Why didn’t Gretchen know that kissing was normal? If any of them would, you’d think that it’d be her! I loved the joke about Spinelli’s science grade though lol 2. What would have happened of the two people who got the shortest straws were of the same sex? 😅🪦

Mikey was the only one who was comfortable with it since he'd seen it in romantic movies but they all claimed it was fake and just acting, technically yes but they're missing the point...why were those movies made? To reflect real life because people like this stuff
