TJ is the best friend in any fiction. A man who is always there when you need him and a man who keeps his word no matter what.

*I will say that as a kid I rarely every watched this cartoon, but now that I am older I wanted to go back and give it a chance, the many lessons this cartoon thought me is incredible, being older I can appreciate this. This is something schools should show as it teaches many valuable things that kids can learn from*

Great episode he does this every year as a way to help both keep what little remains of their friendship

This happened when I was kid his name was Conner inseparable always hanged out parents one each others parents We ended going to different HS and we did have different interest but when we both turned 21 We always go to a bar in our town Once a year and just have a drink together and talk and it’s been going on 16 years

I had a similar experience in grade school; actually it was more exaggerated. A close friend of mine from like 5-7 years old, became my main enemy from like 8-12. I'm pretty sure he was jealous of me because I was one of the most popular kids with both students and teachers and he was branded as a troublemaker and bully, which he most definitely could be. He even tried to fight me on occasion at recess when I put a stop to his bullying. But we were in the same Little League and our parents arranged get togethers occasionally. So away from school we were friendly and everything was different. Strange.

OK not to get into identity politics or anything but coming back to older media I always have a chuckle when people say "he or she" because we're all so acutely aware of the singular they these days (and let's be honest "he or she" doesn't roll off the tongue that well) but then Mikey did use the singular they at Kelso's and it hit me like a Goddamn freight train. Mikey is a poet, of course he'd be the only one aware of such a quirk of the English language, barring maybe Gretchen but she's more of a STEM girl so I can let it slide. Maybe I'm looking too deep into this but it just feels so on brand with how spectacularly well written this show is.

The characters in this show are really well thought out. They are much deeper than what they seem and they have interesting relationships with one another. It would be cool and funny if they remade recess but like a high school or university version
