I feel as if I just stumbled across the next big Disney channel in its infancy. Thanks for the entertaining edit and friendly read. I'm onboard.

Tower of Terror is quite possibly my favorite anything to exist, ever. I cannot quite recall when I saw it for the first time, but my earliest memory is crying because I was not tall enough to ride it. The cast members at the entrance gave me a small certificate, signed by Mickey himself, and told me that when I was tall enough that I could come back and get to the front of the line for free. Ever since then, I have been enthralled with its every nook, cranny, and any detail about it, no matter how small. I came to love everything about it, and one day during one of my family's yearly summer vacations to WDW, some imagineers stopped my family and allowed me and my brother to "work" at Tower of Terror for the day. They gave us our own bellhop uniforms and took us on an entire tour of the ride: we got to sit on the couches in the lobby, they gave us lots of lore and trivia about the ride, and they even took us to the camera room at the bottom of the attraction once you exit. One of the cast members that toured with us (his name was Josh) was the best performance I have witnessed at any attraction. He pulled off an eerie bellhop better than anyone I have seen. He also gave me a copy of the ride's soundtrack. Ever since then, I have probably ridden ToT over three hundred something times. I just cannot get enough of how perfect and special this attraction is to me. It also prompted me to become obsessed with The Twilight Zone as well. It has inspired me, as well as all of WDW, to pursue my dream of becoming an imagineer that I hope to accomplish someday. My only fear is that it will get re-themed one day. I promise I will cry if that day ever comes.

It is me, Mark Silverman. I grew up watching so much Twilight Zone and I was obsessed with Disneyland and Walt Disney World, so getting the job to narrate a Twilight Zone ride for Disney seemed like a Twilight Zone episode in itself.

Excellent B-roll editing on this episode. The salt shaker bit and the emperor's new groove "ooooo" especially stood out to me.

As a cast member who got to ride the "new randomized" test program in a cast exclusive night, sooo many times, as well as a guest who saw the billboard preconstruction, this has been a fav, the theming is pure Disney. Walt level. From the only CM's who are allowed to not smile at guests, to the finale, quite a ride. Got quite a shock at DL when it DID plummet down in the furst lift.!. Don't believe the haters, the random intercuts of movie clips is your style, live it...

You have given this attraction so much justice by this documentary! Like the other commenter I feel I have stumbled across the next big Disney channel too! I pray Disney never re-themes this attraction, it would be a travesty. The whole Twilight Zone theme is spooky and really fits a haunted hotel theme. I love the historic nature to the whole thing. I love Guardians, but if they re-theme Orlando’s i’ll be upset! Loved learning about the history, the hidden gems and the functionality of the ride system and how that works. This year at Disney I’ll be looking for these hidden gems in the hotel! I’ll also be thinking about how the ride works. Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻

You are making amazing content. I just recently visited Walt Disney World for the first time last week and all I could think about was how these rides were made/maintained. I would LOVE to see more especially ones like Flight Of Passage. Keep it up!!

Couple of tidbits you might find interesting: The motors in the top of the DHS ToT are 5k horsepower, not 2k. After about a year of operation, the maintenance staff noticed stress cracks and fractures in the outer wall structures that shouldn't have been there. After some mechanical analysis and testing, it was determined that the ride vehicles were creating mini vacuums and high pressure fronts in the drop shafts when the vehicles were raised and lowered, due to the drop shafts being so well enclosed. To get around this, engineers opened holes in the sides of each drop shaft and themed them appropriately to compensate for the air pressure. Problem solved. At one point, early in the ride's life, one of the 5kHP motors in the attic stopped working. Since the Imagineers built the motors into the attraction itself, never thinking that they may have to change them out someday, there was no way to get the motor out of the ride. The only solution was to partially tear off the top of one of the drop shafts, remove the defective motor, and put a new one in. Now you can see why the Yeti at Expedition Everest has been such a thorn in Imagineering's side. There are 5 ride profiles. There is no random element to any of them. Any ride designer or engineer will tell you that allowing a massive industrial grade machine 'go random' is a recipe for disaster. Disney doesn't do disasters. The designer/engineer HAS to know what the ride is doing at ALL points of the ride at ALL times and adding a random element to a ride profile removes that crucial control aspect, meaning the ride would never be classified as safe for the public. You can't predict or control Random, so you can't build safety or compensation systems to account for it. Sure there are attractions that appear to have randomness in them, but in truth, all of the possible outcomes of the ride profile have been thoroughly worked out ahead of time.

Excellent video! The first thing that stood out to me after taking the time to think about this installment was how CLEAN it felt. More so than I think any of your videos thus far, quite frankly. Your editing was on point and perfectly paced, the music choices were phenomenal and at the perfect volume, your dialogue was very well put together, and the information you provided felt like it covered everything while also not being overwhelming. Your usage of clips unrelated (directly) to the ride itself for comedic effect was also great and I very much appreciated how you often used them to make clean transitions between points. Learning about the history of this ride, the many Twilight Zone easter eggs scattered throughout, the engineering behind the ride, and the individuals involved in it was fantastic! Of the videos you have posted so far, this is easily my personal favorite! Great work man! I can't wait until the next episode drops!

Love your channel. We first went on the ToT when it was new. Interesting that the safety belts that are on the ride now for each rider were not there originally. Each row had one lap bar. My husband is bigger than me and my two kids so when the ride dropped we really came out of our seats. It was really awesome. I suppose the “danger” factor would be why they installed individual laps belts. Always loved this attraction.

Wow, it’s not often these days I actually learn new disney info from KZfaq. I’m certain that without your ride construction videos, someone like me would have never known the planning and consideration imagineers took. Now people can know forever! And also, your b roll/commentary editing is incredible, do you work in media?

So just as an add to the Directory before the preshow rooms. If you look at the bottom of the tray, the letters have fallen to say "Take the Stairs" Also, it is kind of a superstition that if the CMs do not say "Hello" to Caeser in the morning, the ride will have issues that day.

FUN FACT: when Disney went to Otis about doing a “drop shaft” ride, Otis originally declined, saying, “We have spent our entire career making sure elevators DON’T drop like that!!!”

In the boiler room there’s a hidden Micky on the wall

So you're saying the elevator travels 39 mph… or 3 × 13 mph, another 13 recurrence, times 3 for the 3rd gate at WDW?

The wire ‘track’ that emits radio signals was first used at The Great Movie Ride. A different signal was used for each vehicle, known as the A and B vehicles for the show scenes in which guests were ‘kidnapped’ by either a gangster or a bandit, as well as their stopping points along the track. At each stop along the way, the vehicles would connect to a charger beneath the vehicle. The vehicles on the Great Movie Ride were not automatic. The tour guide would “check-in” by pressing two buttons, so the vehicle would move and then change the speed depending on the scene, in order to create enough space between the vehicles along the way. Naturally, the steering wheel was fake, though. There is no way a tour guide could safely navigate those tight corridors and turns. It has been said that the lights in the mirror-like star field at the end of the 5th dimension converge into a Mickey head just before the light turns vertical and the doorway opens to the drop shaft.

Very good video. Note, Rod Serling did do a part of the narration. The video clip and audio of Rod were from the episode "It's a good life". Rod says "Tonight's story on The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize, is a" And the new narrator picks up at that point, "maintenance service elevator". In the episode, points to a "map of the united states". On the ride he points to a "maintenance service elevator".

First time I rode it, when I got off, I said to the cast member, “where does it go now?” And he promptly opened the elevator doors and let me watch the car back up and move over into the load shaft!!!

Cool video. And You mention the one library being called "Echo". Later, you should a diagram showing the 4 elevators up called alpha through delta, with the drop shafts being called Echo and Foxtrot. 2 drop shaft, 2 libraries and 1 called Echo in both regards. If The echo library matches to the Echo drop shaft, then I'd guess that The library that precedes the Foxtrot drop shaft would be called Foxtrot? It is a guess.

Trivia: The 5th dimension tunnel is supposed to be sideways looking up (look at the signs and lights). There was supposed to be an additional effect where the hallway turns but the effect was cut. But the sideways tunnel remains

Very well made video! As a fan of Tower, I love videos like this that go into the lesser known Easter eggs or facts. SMALL NOTE THOUGH, I don't think it's true that they misplaced the sign on the front of the building. While the sign is higher in the matte painting during the preshow, the actually imagineering model of the tower shows the sign in the same location as it is in real life.

The only mispronounced word that stood out to me was (and I had to rewind to verify) was at 2:11 where you said, "debuting." As in "day-byoot-ing" when it should have been "day-byoo-ing" (no T). [Only commenting because you asked] Still though, you have a talent, and are producing great content! Keep it up!

Are you sure about WDW No Fly Zone? I tought it was only Magic Kingdom. I've done several Helicopter Tours from Orlando/Kissimme, and they fly above all the parks (except MK) because of that reason.

Ok, I'm sorry, but I've heard this in SEVERAL of your videos now. You don't pronounce the T in debut. Ever. Not in the past tense. Not in any form of the word. It's dey-byoo.Dey-byooed. De-byooing. To quote Back to the Future II - "You sound like a damn fool when you say it wrong " lol.

All of this information has been available via other videos for many years, not new.
