In June 2023 I stayed at the Beach Club Club Level. I needed a doctor and prescription. The concierge cast members helped me get to urgent care and helped me with Rx delivery. Thank you.

The room checks need to be changed. We stayed at beach club last year, and our mid-afternoon nap was interrupted by insistent pounding on the door. I 100% agree that it feels so.. intrusive. What if I had been in the shower with the bathroom door wide open? I understand why they do it, but it makes it difficult to truly rest. I’ve heard people say they will put a sticky note on the door that they are napping, and to come back for a room check at X time. Not sure if that actually works, but might be worth a try.

The sticky note is a good idea! The room checks feel extremely invasive, and especially traveling solo with my daughter, it’s very uncomfortable.

@@BekahHart I agree. Last December when we stayed at Saratoga Springs was the first time I experienced a room check. The cast member didn't really introduce themselves so I was a little confused what was happening and before I knew it this man was inside our resort room. My husband was getting food so it was just myself and my toddler. Felt very invasive!

Speaking of not doing the same trip over and over....would you ever consider a couple nights in a family suite at Art of Animation, Pop Centry, or a moderate other than Caribbean Beach? I cannot afford to stay deluxe, even by renting points. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I would really like to see the other resorts, pools, and what they have to offer😊🏰💐

Definitely not the only one! We stayed at AoA 4 years ago for 4 nights with a discount just because we needed more space when we travel even though it's just the four of us. We loved it! Renting points is still pretty steep for us too so the only way we'd be able to return is to go value to be able to stay at Disney as long as we used to but would have to sacrifice a lot of space in the process.

Mom of four…former kindergarten teacher here…I would homeschool if I had the chance to do it all over again. My youngest switched to homeschool mid year 10th grade…she just graduated college. Enjoy the ride!

I have always feared the buses and did not think it would be worth it to stay if we weren't in a Savannah view room. So glad to hear your thoughts and will help us maybe choose this resort in the future!

Great video! We've stayed Kidani and Jambo and also prefer staying in Jambo and using the shuttle or walking 10ish min to the splash pad at Kidani. I think the shuttle between the resorts is actually so fun with the Disney music they play on it and my daughter loves taking the bus ride over lol. Love that it is a deluxe with a playground and it definitely has a special, relaxing feeling there. I strangely haven't been bothered by any room checks even though we do long afternoon naps on our last couple trips. We put the do not disturb sign on and unplug our room's phone unless expecting a call. I wish they asked what time of day works best for a room check.

I'm so glad to hear you loved Animal Kingdom Lodge! It's our favorite (and our home DVC resort). The only thing I would add is that while the lobby is grander and there are more offerings at Jambo, the hallways at Kidani are looooong. It can be a very long walk depending on where they place you. We prefer Jambo for that reason! We also had a really great bus experience on our most recent trip!

I think you persuaded me to try animal kingdom lodge next time we go to Disney! Sounds like a great place to relax but also get to the parks pretty quick when needed. Also love their restaurants.

We always found the bus time from Kidani to be very reasonable. Always a short wait for the bus and drive time was quick. The shuttle between Jambo and Kidani was excellent too.

Loved this video! We just stayed at Kidani for 8 nights and I swear I left part of myself there…it was heaven. Yes the food options are less but everything else was perfection for us (family of 4). My 10yo even loved the splash pad! The buses were a non-issue. We even had an empty bus heading back to MK one night! They really focus on their transportation. Yes we had to stand a couple times, but ice cold buses on hot days will always win for me. ❤

I’m so excited to be watching your videos again after a break from KZfaq. I homeschool my daughter also because we wanted to flexibility to travel or do other family things. We are a part of a program where she’s in a classroom 2 days a week and we love it! It keeps us on track and she can still make friends at ‘school’. We’re planning our next trip to Disney World, catching up on all of your videos! ❤

I am planning on homeschooling my son as well for the flexibility. What is this called with the classroom setup? We have co-ops locally, but I have never heard of the 2 day/week classroom set up.

I was glad to see you talk about a new transportation company! I reached out to Mike’s when you originally recommended them and the communication left a bad taste in my mouth, unfortunately. I just tend to use Uber Black now but am always looking for better options, since that has its cons too

Thank you so much for addressing the room checks!! I’m a Passholder and we go frequently but I didn’t notice them until til 2 years ago when we also stayed at AKL. They started doing this end of 2017/2018 after a notable incident in the US at a hotel. Usually we’re in the parks, but it was just me & my girls that time. It does feel very intrusive & definitely inappropriate if we happened to be showering. It’s bad enough if you’re taking a nap. We felt like we did something wrong with how they were acting. I don’t know why they just don’t have housekeeping come in, take some trash, & take note! If your sign is up they should come back later. I know a lot of people who go back to their rooms to rest midday. I can’t imagine how anyone thinks the afternoon time would be good in case guests are napping. Same with really early or late phone calls. So frustrating! 😖

I’m so glad you talked about the transportation! We just stayed at AKL for the first time and we were BLOWN AWAY!! We also went into it thinking it was probably going to be a one and done for us. Nope! We are staying there again for a portion of our next trip now 😂 the buses are not bad at all. Also, are room checks a newer thing? Maybe we have just always been out when they do them idk. But our last trip I literally told my husband “I feel like they just won’t leave us alone!” We had a split stay between a few resorts and at every single one they did this. I was so confused by it. Makes more sense now why they kept coming to our room! They never said anything when I answered the door. It was always “o I’m so sorry!” And then they would leave. So strange!

Great video! I never had a room check before. Just house keeping to either clean room or empty trash. If the do not disturb sign is on the door, would they skip room checking you?

Unfortunately, no 🥲 They will come in the room even with the do not disturb sign on. I’ve let them know many times that it’s not a good time, and they insist on needing a specific time they can come back 🤪

Disney’s goal is to do the room check while you are in the parks, but it never works out that way for us since we take long mid-day breaks 🤪

I buy a gallon of distilled water from the resort store that has sundries - it’s like $3 and I use it to refill water bottles for my family. And can buy it again when running low. No need for ordering a case of individual plastic water bottles.

We had a really big issue at riviera with the room checks. Culturally we always leave shoes in a section of the room and don’t use shoes in the room. Next, my daughter has so many allergies that I don’t want their shoes dragging in anything. I didn’t know about it when I first stayed and requested no house keeping but didn’t know that was different. Found out half way though and I was livid! Not that it really mattered, as you said “it’s Disney’s policy”, super inappropriate

We just took a trip in early June and split stay between Animal Kingdom lodge and Old Key West. I was VERY disappointed with AKL. The resort is amazing, but our room was AWFUL. We were there celebrating my dd’s 21st birthday. It was me (50s) and 3 (21-25 year olds). The view was spectacular. The resort itself was great. Wish the pool had longer hours. But the pull outt bed in our room was unacceptable. It was horrible. It made terrible creaking noises if you moved at all and the mattress was so thin. The bars and springs were ever present. These rooms need updating and new beds. If you have a youngster which is your focus, I still think this is awful. These rooms are clearly meant only to house 2 adults.

On the hotel side yes, all club level rooms have a savanna view. DVC club level rooms are mostly all savanna view.

The room checks need to stop they knocked we were in the middle of lunch and I opened the door like yeah we are fine, and they still knock again. We are PAYING for these rooms, the privacy and a place to crash! Why are they allowed to do this? Do all hotels do this???

Disney implemented room checks as a safety measure in response to the 2017 Las Vegas shooting where a gunman opened fire on a festival crowd from his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay.

I agree it’s awful & they need to respect the door sign at least and come back later that day. Yes other hotels do it now too. It’s because of an incident that happened in 2017. So beginning of 2018 many US hotels started implementing this rule but I noticed it at AKL-haven’t at other Disney resorts (yet)😫 but we’re usually in the parks most of the time-I’d be so mad if they woke me or my kids up from a nap though-or came in while we were showering! Ugh
