March 1987 the Albano's go to Disneyland 1980's style. I was rocking the neon yellow and red shorts. What an exciting time at Disneyland. The year was March 1987. Captain EO had just come out the previous fall and Star Tours came out that January. We rented a video camera to relive this moment. You have to remember this was way before KZfaq and the only way to get your Disneyland fix was to tape it yourself. Notice the price of a one day pass to Disneyland in 1987 was $20 for an adult and $15 for a child. Wow, prices went up since then. Ages: Dad 39, Mom 39, Donnie 17, Aaron 12, and Sarah 11.

Wow, that's neat that out of all the people in the world this family happened to catch you in their video and you happened to come across this video that you were captured in! I worked at Disneyland from 1987 until 1994 but I worked in foods ... French Market, Hungry Bear, Mile Long Bar/Brer Bar, Tom Sawyer's Island, and in the later years we had a fruit cart as part of Hungry Bear that was by the canoes. I suppose I could have ended up in some videos out on the fruit cart or possibly walking across the park to work in the background of a video I didn't realize was being taken or I would have either waited or gone around them. It must be kind of weird but neat to find yourself captured in someone's video. 😊

Rare indeed. Remember camcorders back then were very, very expensive I remember in the early or mid 1990s how a Sony camcorder was about 1200 bucks even in the early 2000s they were still pretty expensive not as expensive as in the early 90s but still a hefty price even on sale they were never a favorable price.

My father took us to LA in 1956. Disneyland opened up the year before. My parents couldn’t afford to pay for all of us (7) to go into Disneyland, so my dad drove us to the front of it so we could at least see what it looked like from the outside. We could see the castle and we were very excited just to see the outside.

Great video. My wife and I went to Disneyland in 1987 for the first time together. We were back in 1988 for our Honeymoon. We went back many times over the last 35 years and will now be heading back in June with our Grandchildren for their first experience of Disneyland. A lot of changes over the years ands as our family grew, we always had a great time. We were there 10 or so years ago on Christmas Day and it was the busiest day in the parks history and we still had the time of our lives and believe it or not, one of the most fun trips we have had there as a family. Love, love, love this happiest place on earth. I'm sure we will go again and again until we just can't do it - which I hope will be at least a few more decades.

Nice video. Hard to film with that big camera on your shoulder. I know. I had one too. I miss the people mover. My dad worked in fantasyland from 1955-60. Disney let him bring his kids with him to work sometimes. I was only 3-6 years old, so I had to sit on the ride he was operating that day. I remember going round and round and round on Alice in Wonderland. I actually saw Walt Disney one day. I think he would be pleased with many of the changes to the park, but I would imagine he would be displeased with others. He did say that Disneyland would never be finished. But, just too expensive for me. I auditioned for the toy soldier trumpet players in 1974. I didn't get selected, but it was cool getting called in for a tryout. They had me play a two octave A major scale up and down and then sightread some music. I was worried about the sight reading, but then it turned out to be, 'March of the toy soldiers'. So I nailed it. Still didn't get the gig.

What a great time to be a kid! I was ten at this time and got to go about once a year. I can see why with those prices! I think in '87 may have also gone as a field trip as well. Not sure of the month though. Thanks so much for the memories.

Star Tours had opened and America Sings was still playing. The reason there's only three geese in Acts 1 and 2 of America Sings instead of four like you see in Acts 3 and 4 is because Imagineers took one goose from Act 1 and Act 2 to recycle them as droids for Star Tours!

Thank you so much for posting this, I was 9 in 1987 and went twice that year, once with my dad and once with my grandmother who is no longer here. (I remember that year so well because Star Tours just opened) It's great to see old favorites like America Sings again, and to relive some of my childhood. Your family made a wonderful video.

My family started going to Disneyland in the late 50's and I remember going twice a year throughout the 60's and 70's. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the People Movers! They've not done anything worth doing with the tracks or space, and it was an enjoyable way to get a little rest in the middle of the day. I only saw Captain EO once, I thought it was awful. (Honey, I Shrunk The Kids was much better.) I never went on the Motor Boat Cruise, it looked boring. I know a lot of people feel nostalgic about America Sings, but I MUCH preferred its predecessor in that space, The Carousel of Progress! Thanks for the blast from the past.

The prices were raised so high in recent years to curb the amount of people coming. The park wanted to reduce the amount of patrons. Unfortunately it didn't work well, as people still kept coming. Prices were so low then partly because the population wasn't as high as it is today, so the park employees could handle the crowds. That's an impossibility now. They're overwhelmed. Can you imagine lowering the price back down to what it was then? The crowds would be even worse than they are now. No thanks.

Oh, man! This really takes me back! I remember a lot of the old nostalgic stuff you showed here! The original Star Tours, Captain EO, the Peoplemover, America Sings, the Motor Boats, Big Thunder Ranch, the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, the Keel Boats, but I've never seen Wonders of China until now! It's a shame the Skyway and the Country Bears were closed the day you went, cuz that would have completed the full nostalgia this video would have held!
