Not to mention that Astro Orbiters is going through major renovations. They took the whole thing down! Hoping they remove those giant rocks cause that will certainly help. And if only there was some other way in Tomorrowland to relieve the crowds by having some kind of attraction that moves people. Like some kind of.....People....Mover.....thing.

Some people say that it's impossible to bring it back, bc they'll have to tear everything down and start from zero. But I hope they do it anyway, even if it's a lot of work. Ruining the Peoplemover is the worst thing Disneyland has ever done. I love the WDW Peoplemover, it makes the park look more magical & beautiful + it's such a relaxing ride and you get to see everything from there.

Bryce McKenzie what they need to do was widen all of the sidewalks and walkways to make room for the abundance of strollers and motorized scooters.

@@FindingTheForce If it's anything like Florida, they really need to restrict scooter rentals to people who need them. I'm pretty tired of 'drink around the world' groups barreling through Epcot on them.

Also they took out the HUGE planters on the Tomorrowland walkways. It opened up the path so much that is was drastically noticable so I'm glad about what they're doing

I'm kinda confused on what's being said here, are you saying that removing original parts of the park to update and improve it is bad? Because if so, then most of Fantasyland is replaced already.

Disneyland has always removed its original parts even when Walt was alive. The giant hill of dirt that became a lover's lane attraction was turned into the Matterhorn, for example.

I agree to be faithful to Walt Disney's true Dream, Disneyland will never be finished. With that said I am glad to hear they are fixing up the park. I went to Disney World a few years ago, after not having been in a decade ( boy was I having with drawls) any way, I was never so disappointed, all the parks looked run down. Disney Studio the worst for wear. I was also disappointing to see in some of the updates or refurbished the they seem to be rushed and and to have the itiment detail I had always come to expect from Disney. The hiding of mechanical works, like wires and parts, and speakers. Lot of the newer rides seemed like they were trying to find a cheaper way to do things. LED TV screens that showed poor pictures and looked like LED Screens. Faded paint, cracked bricks, exposed wires. portable buildings for selling merchandise with now Disney Magic and ugly.

They had to finish Star Wars land first, can't have 1/2 the park closed. Hopefully all the Star Wars will leave there and they will do anything with Carousal of Progress/America Sings building, and the People Mover, fix it or take it out!

Huckleberry87 I used to perform in the Disneyland Dance the Magic parade with my dance team around Christmas time, and I remember that one year, this one girl got her foot stuck in the tracks and some of the workers had to come and pry her foot out. She was crying and I felt really bad but we just kept on dancing

I don’t think I’ve ever tripped on the tracks(at WDW, I’ve never been to DL) But also how does someone’s gotta get Stuck?.. do the tracks at DL have wider spacings? If not was she a little girl? Because here at WDW the tracks aren’t that spaced out, so you can only trip, not get stuck.

Think about it logically though. They have basically HALF the park closed right now and the biggest section since the opening of the park itself being released this summer. wouldn't it make more sense to wait until Starwars Land opens, which will bring most of it's guests away from that side of the park anyways, to close off an entire land (and one with an attraction that probably brings in the most guests out of any land at the moment, Space Mountain.)? They can close it down and they will. Eventually, but just give em a little bit of time. Enjoy Starwars land for a year or two THEN worry about bringing back old rides, or re-doing Tommorowland lol

Unfortunately with the repairs that need to be made, mover won’t come back... there isn’t enough room to make it up to code. A fully accessible queue for small world was amazing, but that would kill Tomorrowland walkways

It's been a long time coming. I'm normally a stickler for keeping old rides, and Disney history, but adjusting for capacity is something I view more as adaptability. It has needed some tlc in that department for a while. That is something the park has always struggled with, and I wish they could expand. My only really serious disappointment is the price increase. It may be a couple of years before my husband and I will be able to visit one of our happy places.

That “original “ trolly tracks have been changed lots of times over the past 60 years. the first concrete laid down there is dust, and destroyed because that’s what happens to it when it’s demolished.

The new castle looks SO pretty!!! I just got back yesterday and the new paint is beautiful! It was actually my first time going but compared to pictures of the old paint it’s a very big improvement

Easy solution to the pirates que! Transform the dream suite into a large, indoor, immersive part of the pirate line and it would more than triple the line capacity and allow for more storytelling elements in the que!

I think they are putting Galaxies Edge in the wrong park. It should go to DCA not Disneyland as DCA is the newer IP Park.

Yes! I just hate thinking that a big, ugly rock thing world will be visible from almost everywhere in the park!!!!! I JUST HATE IT SO MUCH AND ITS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE DISNEY HAS EVER MADE except for when they took out the peoplemover.

I agree I’m so sick of Disney doing things that are popular. They haven’t come up with a new non IP ride in a long time. It’s funny because in 10 years everybody will be sick of Star Wars and Super Heroes. And Disney will have wasted a lot of money on Star Wars Galaxies Edge and the future Marvel land at DCA.

IT'S ABOUT TIME. Walking through the un-ending crowds of Disneyland was the main reason I always wanted to sit down and eat something, thank god they are improving guest flow, Adventureland was, as you put it, a literal nightmare. I am welcome to all changes to the park, especially for Galaxy's Edge. I'm going there in fall, I'm very interested to see what the crowds are going to be like. Hopefully the changes make a difference...

I was at the park when they put up the skrim and wall over the castle in Jan. Thankfully we knew it was coming so we got all our castle pics the day before it was put up. It's sad for those people who didn't know and were hoping for castle pictures but I am so excited to see what it looks like when it's done!

Adventureland is aesthetically my second favorite place in the park aside from main street, so this news is pretty great. There's usually such a huge crowd swarming through there that it's hard to take everything in. And, in general, it's great to know that Disney's mindful of stuff like that, and are able to get these changes hammered out as quickly as they have been.

I'm hoping the "renovation" of Astro Orbiter is going to face the same story of Rocket Rods. Disney posted it was a refurbishment, when it turned out to be a removal of the ride. Let's hope its the same with the gateway to Tomorrowland! Get rid of the rocks too! May this be the beginning of something huge!!

Disney has said its too expensive to remove the ride. Plus, They would have to close off so much of Tommorrowland that it would just cause too many issues for Disney. With the opening of Star Wars, they might do that, but Disney doesn’t see any issue with it until it begins to really fall apart

@@marellamofo If only they could, but they cannot. Once they modified the People Mover and removed the cars, it now has to meet certain safety requirements. They just can't reinstall it.

My dude. Can I just say. I think it is excellent that you basically turned loving Disney Parks into your career. Like...I’m trying to do that too, but I did not think outside the box and there’s not a 100% chance it’ll work. Gotta get the right internships, kiss ass to the right people etc...but kudos my dude. What’s so impressive about this too is how quickly you adjust because it’s fairly subtle. I just was at Disneyland this month and already forgot they changed the walkways until this video. Nostalgia, maybe unfortunately, is useless with Disneyland. It was designed to change with time, and it HAS to. It was (maybe is) horrendously packed when the park was busy.

Project Stardust is something that in my opinion was way over due even before Disney acquired the Star Wars property. The crowds of today are much larger the smaller crowds of 1955. Happy to see the park always evolve and change though, per Walt's wishes. Its also keeps it interesting, and gives more reason to keep visiting the park, as nothing ever becomes stale.

I like the idea of a Dragon on the castle. I am glad they are expanding the walkways. I have had to be there with Strollers and Scooters and felt like it was a nightmare trying to get around. We did spend a lot of are time in Adventureland. Thanks for the updates.

I’ve been a pass holder for over 10 years and have noticed the increase in attendance every year and everything they’re doing makes sense and much needed since a lot of areas they worked on needed widening for foot traffic. As always they do amazing work in record time.

A note about the tracks. It's said that the bricks are more comfortable for the horses to walk on. The bricks surrounding the trolly tracks eliminate the risk of tripping on the gaps outside the tracks. So it doesn't have an utilitarian function after all.

If only Project Stardust brought us back the PeopleMover. That would be something I would definitely wait for. But overall I'm glad Disney making these changes, I just hope they don't change too much.

This is all really exciting! Literally anything to make the flow better. Also I notice a lot of people mention how much more open Magic Kingdom feels, but when I went back in 2012 it took us at least 45 minutes to get from Main Street to Tomorrowland. Maybe they’ve improved things, but Magic Kingdom was worse with crowds than Disneyland is.

I love Disneyland. I love that castle. And I know all the refurbishments are gonna be fantastic and magical and amazing, but seeing those walls around it. God, it makes me depressed. I know I have too much emotional attachment to it, but I don't think I'm alone when I say that seeing those walls makes everything feel wrong.

Disneyland Paris has THE BEST WALKTHROUGH’S! To start, there are two side routes in addition to Main Street USA! If you want to skip the crowds going down a side route definitely helps the flow to and from the entrance of the park. One of the side routes even has a US/France tribute including the history of the Statute of Liberty. Then each land has an entrance walkthrough, not to mention a dragon under their castle! DLP wins the award for best traffic flow of all Disney parks!

Personally I'm not thrilled when it comes to star wars land. I think that the futuristic but grungy look is something Walt wouldn't have wanted in his parks. I saw a preview and it looks too dirty. It just makes me sad that they've totally forgotten Walt's original vision for his park. I do think opening up the walkways and updating queues is always a good idea, though..

It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” Walt Disney I think this'll answer any comment regarding Walt's "original vision". His vision was the future. And sucks to suck, but the newer generations ARE the future. The parks accommodate the future. building what's new and what's hip to the young souls in the world TODAY is what Walt wanted. He didn't care about keeping it original? I'm sure he would have the whole park resurfaced ten times by now. Hell EVERYTHING would probably be different, because that's how imaginative he was.

Honestly, I agree with you. I personally don't really like the star wars franchise at all, and I'll probably never go to galaxy's edge. I just want the peoplemover back AND carousel of progress

Hey, that’s why I said personally. You don’t have to agree with me. I just remember the quote from walt saying that he didn’t want a dilapidated haunted house, he wanted a clean looking house that was haunted on the inside for haunted mansion. I was literally just going off of what he has already said about what he wants for his parks.

I agree. I know he was against having any sort of haunted house attraction bc he didn't like the idea of a run down building in the park, so he would definitely not like Star Wars.

As some one who has been going to Disneyland for over 40 years yeah this is a long time coming especially Holiday Season (Dec 26th comes to mind) so people are not packed like sardines and take 20 min to get from Its a Small World or Toon Town to the Matterhorn. Good video.

From what I've been reading, Maleficent is rumored to be a drawing on the Fantasyland side of the printed scrim that's going up around the castle while they're doing construction. It'd be pretty cool to get an actual fire-breathing animatronic dragon in a dungeon though, although I don't know how they could with all of the limited space.

Oh man, I was wondering what was up with the level of construction at disneyland when i went earlier this month. The castle I knew about, but after 12 years I had been wondering if that'd since become the norm! Since I intend to go more often in the future, I'm relieved that it's not! But am also happy they're tweaking the park for a better experience without compromising Disneyland's charm. Nice!

Here's hoping Tomorrowland remodel will be soon (after Galaxy's Edge opening). I'd even be okay with it shutting down a couple years if it got the true attention and care it needs, and especially if they bring the Peoplemover back!

As much as I adore WDW I've never been to DL. I can relate to the excitement about revamped walkways, though, since in the last year Disney DOUBLED the width of the rose garden walkway cutting from the head of the World Showcase over to Imagination/The Land and it was SO BADLY NEEDED. My family takes that walkway all the time since most people tend to stick to the main promenade, and now it's even better.

Expanding the walkways is a long overdue project since the park has been increasing the number of a admissions. Today the park is insanely overcrowded from when I used to go there as a kid ten years ago.

I hope they don't screw up the castle. A few years ago, they installed a railing along the bridge. It didn't need that metal railing. They removed the little benches around the banners. They also changed the drawbridge. Now it is fastened in place and has the bridge extending over the drawbridge. Certain elements of the park like the castle should not be modified with modern things like the railing. They should have landmark status. They are like works of art. I had noticed that all of last year, some of the spires were missing after they removed the Christmas overlay. I wondered why they hadn't fixed it.

Makes sense that it's all part of the bigger picture post Galaxy's Edge. I wonder what's next for DLP after the new land? I know about the rumors for a Fantasyland refresh, but I think Tomorrowland needs it more. If a "phase 2" of Galaxy's Edge rumor was true, I think it would help in moving Star Tours to the new land, giving more room for a proper refresh of Tomorrowland, maybe even make more room for a new version of the Tron coaster.
