I like this because it spares the creatures life

great idea, totally humane and what really sealed the deal was you set the rat free away from your home, they are just creatures trying to survive like us and it's nice to see you don't kill them.

This was an adorable trap. Thats make me let them go instead of Killing them.

I made it and it worked! I didn't know what to do with the mouse though. I put it in the microwave for 2 minutes and lo! Problem solved.

I like how at the start it is like they show the exact moment when the rat messed up.

I'm not convinced a rat couldn't get out of that wafer thin cup. Especially if it's tail got caught in the trap it would have a perfect gap to begin gnawing away!

The music is so heroic!

The biggest weak point is the straw. If the rat/mouse starts chewing on either end of it the trap will start to fall apart. It might not be able to puncture a hole around the sides or top with it's claws or teeth, but with the opening the straw leaves it will give it plenty of room to hack and nibble. It would work pretty well for a few minutes, though. To use it, you'd have to be around and probably have some kind of alarm for when it gets sprung like a bell on one end of the straw.

This background music really made trapping like a suspense movie...

Human beings are much more pests than small critters... Think about it this way: A rat is living and destroying the inside of a human built house. But than again, the rat existing is far more natural than the said human built house. So we are the once in the wrong by saying they are pests... We keep on ruining for ourselves and the nature everyday. But yet we keep thinking that we are the alpha existence on planet earth. Life is life, no matter what size, shape or colour..Dumb people think, how are we supposed to live without our houses and whatnot? If we did not have houses to this day, then would it even be a concern? And wouldn't we make-do with what we had instead? Co-existing with our planet, now that would really be a life worth living! This guy knows if he let's them free, he will just capture it again next week. He actually tied a very small string to the mouse's foot before he released it; this way, he could pull it back to him and kill it once he turned the camera off. I imagine it must've been too gruesome for internet.

A sure-fire method, but not ethical is to catch the rat alive and then burn it inside your building. (Burn it inside a wood stove so the rat cannot escape and cause a fire.) Rats have some sort of high frequency warning sound (or so I'm told) that is imparted on the interior of the building and it warns off other rats.

who else watched with their pat rat on their shoulder? loved this video, very humane way to get the unwanted critters out of your house. i despise traps that inhumanely kill these creatures. however, if the rat / mouse has rabies, then hell yeah, get an antique mouse trap or whatever. but there's only a slight chance that the critter would be rabid, so this trap is definitely the best in my perspective.

Now this is what everyone needs instead of glue traps

You could've at least leave airholes on it. That animal will suffocate inside unless you're fast enough.
