Dissing a Daughter

The plaintiff claims she bought her mother a phone and put it in her own name, but the defendant didn’t pay the bill like she agreed to do, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues she moved in with her daughter and took care of her child while the plaintiff went out and partied, so she shouldn’t have to pay the bill.

There's a saying: "Stop forcing kids to have a relationship emotionally abusive family members. You aren't teaching them family first, you're teaching them that regardless of how someone treats them, they're supposed to love them unconditionally, and that's not a good lesson."

The grandmother didnt appear too dysfunctional, but you can tell by how the daughter spoke at the end there was clearly way way more to their story. Obviously, you don't know everything your children do or go through, but that statement just reeks of negligence to me. My mother doesn't know every little thing about me, but she knows all of my moods, she knows when I'm sad, she cries for me and with me, she laughs with me, she talks with me, she's THERE for me. I understand where Judge M is coming from and why she always champions for families to work it out but she has to realise that her way of thinking isn’t always right! She clearly comes from a loving family, which is why she can’t imagine how a family can feel the way these litigants do and why family members decide to stop associating with toxic family members. Unless someone has been in that situation or lived through that kind of dysfunction and heartache, they will never understand. I myself come from a loving family and can’t imagine that I will ever be in this situation, but I can also understand that the only experience that I have, is the one that I’ve lived! So I would never tell another person what they should do in their situation based off of my experience, thoughts and feelings. It’s so easy for the judge to say what she says all of the time when it comes to family but she has to stop thinking she knows it all and that she is right, when all that she has is her own experience. Family or not, if someone is toxic in your life, you have the right to back away from them for your own sanity. If someone had a toxic friend or romantic relationship, I guarantee that the judge would tell them to cut that person off, so why should it be any different with family just because they are family? Toxic is toxic!

You took the words right out of my mouth. I love Judge Milan, but I disagree with her on this one big time. I had to cut out my Dad's side of the family after he died. They sued me several times to get his money and won. Actually said to one Judge they did not love me in one lawsuit and that was it. I couldn't take that heartache anymore from them. I hope Judge Milan does read some of these comments to get a different perspective of family issues. Thank you for putting your comments in for those of us who know the pain.

JM addressed the adults to "work it out" in order for the child to not get deprived of grandparent's love. The conflict does not include the child so why should he suffer the loss of a grandmother. Her Mom's life was fine. She and her son moved in with her because they needed to. Daughter decided to move and wanted her Mom to go knowing she would be without an income. She should have found means to pay her own phone bill though. People are talking about how the Mom basically disowned her daughter, but I haven't read yet any comments on how the daughter said if her mom was on fire she wouldn't spit on her to save her life. She's mad about the conversation with the boyfriend ( now ex). She WILL need her Mom again. I HAD a friend who's entire family cut ties with her because of how she treated everyone. Her parents helped raise her son ( and was doing a great job), she treated them terribly. She lost several friends who witnessed it. When her parents passed, noone at the funerals spoke to her...Noone. It's heartbreaking that family is like this towards each other. I don't know what ever happened to the person I was friends with, her children haven't spoken to her in years.

the indication that all grandparents are entitled to their grandchildren is not ok. There are some messed up ppl that you should not have around your child(ren) for their mental. Protecting your child’s peace is just as important as protecting them physically. (“She’s not my child anymore” didn’t help.)

Its annoying that the judge tries to give relationship advice about a situation she knows nothing about. That woman could be toxic and unhinged and she pushes that the son should spend time with her.

It's saddening to know that things happen this way between individuals. It's important to remember that blood makes you related and not family. Family is work. Just because someone is a sibling or parent, doesn't mean you will get along or care to be around each other. Now, I don't think one should continue to harbor hatred toward another and should instead do the work to resolve the issue (even if without the other party).

The Daughter ending was Deep pain . If y'all only knew my life with our mother God bless her . My Grandma was everything that our mother wasn't. But dear God knows the truth .but I still love my mother from a distance . because I tried to help her out of all my siblings she tried me and said something to hurt my feelings . I didn't cuss her out or nothing I just back off and pray for her . Lord have mercy if y'all only knew she told us she never loved us it's nine of us living she had 11 kids my mother didn't raise none of us but I still try to help her and love her but I had to cut her off so she can heal herself just talk to her the other day and she said thank you she doing better to take care of her self it's Alot . But I don't hate my mothere but I feel the pain .of a mother not wanting her kids. 😢 But I been bless with my son. My only child he treats me soooo good and respect me I couldn't imagine not having my son in my life . Wow. What I did nt. Have with my mother I have it with my son. Thank you Jesus. My parent's had six children. We all grew up in the same house. Im the youngest. Five of us are normal. One of my sis has an attitude like the plaintiff. As long as my mom is doing something to benefit my sis everything is great. As soon as my mom disagree with her, she the worse mother on earth. Sometimes people feel entitled and has nothing to do with their parents.

The reporter was wrong to chastize the plaintiff. The mother was wrong to disown her daughter. The daughter was wrong to say what she did about her mother Judge apparently is having some difficulties with one of her daughters because she has become very outraged with parents who won't let the grandchildren see their grandparents. She gets all angry and rarely lets the litigation tell their entire stories. unfortunately, there are much deeper wounds in this case than we will know
