I appreciate u watchin n im glad u felt that confident to buy some DS18 pro spkrs i promise if u put some power to them u WILL NOT be disappointed as far as the actual setting i think it was around 125hz at that setting it gave me a lil midbass kick but not enough to distort anything n cause trouble i recommend starting at 125hz play a cpl good midbass songs if it sounds like to much at volume turn the HPF crossover up slowly until u feel its at a good point n sounds good everyones ears are different try a cpl of ur favorite songs i personally like the song in this video the highs are loud n clear n it has some really nice midbass kick to it but as u know no 2 songs are them same keep me posted on how u like them how many did u buy n what amp are u planning on using

@@Tony2Pockets thanks i appreciate it i have 4 ds18 pro x6 4bm on a rockford t400xad great amp clean power i know im not getting enough power to the ds18s. The amp puts out roughly 130 watts rms per channel. The shop who installed the amp set my hpf setting to 250 on the amp i feel its high. I have subs so im not looking for any midbass from the ds18s

@@HG-NLINE i used to have one of those awesome lil amps if u feel its to high then slowly turn it down until it sounds better to u the shop will set it high like that to keep the customer from damaging anything DS18 recommends them to be crossed in the 200s i think thats a lil high myself too just be careful when adjusting the settings use a medium volume start turning the HPF down ull notice them kick a lil more the lower u go stay in between 125-150 n ull be ok

How are these compared to decent 6 by 9’s, I was wanting to get just pure punching mids, these will have better mids than 6by9’s? 6 by 9’s are more low bass?

@Tony2Pockets 3 жыл бұрын
As far as clarity n gettin loud these are really nice but they are a midrange not midbass although a 6x9 can and will get really loud as well as have a lil punchy bass dependin on the car and whatu need would depend on what u should get example if u have a 07' Charger the doors n package tray all have 6x9 in them the front doors are "subwoofers" no midrange comin out of the that all comes from the 3.5" in the dash and the rear 6x9" but u could have some 6x9" brackets made with an 8" cutout n just trim the lil xtra off on the doors n run a 8" midbass n some tweeters but there are 6x9" pro audio spkrs available as well just another option u could do

So many missed ? Tonite my bad for the late response first off my suggestion would be try to equal out ur equipment every 6.5" n 8" across the board have different frequency responses but for ur 8" mids it is safe to run them together as long as u keep the playin field even for both of them if the power ratings are way different that will change alot for one ur gonna underpower 1 set to not blow another but if theres say a 50watt difference not an issue if the frequencies are different find a happy place for both if 1 is say 116hz n the other is 150hz ur gonna have to cross them around 200hz to play it safe for both sets i do not reccomend runnin 6.5" n 8" together on the same ch the differences are to much to play safe on the same 4ch amp thats fine 6.5" on ch 1/2 8" on 3/4 better safe than sorry n blowin spkrs

@Tony2Pockets
@Tony2Pockets 4 жыл бұрын
Honestly thats tough to answer in a way because everything will sound better with an amp if u want good sound without an amp is to try and look for a Coaxial speaker that has a really low NOMINAL rating meaning thats the lowest power the speaker needs to sound "optimal" so to speak so if u have an aftermarket headunit then ur RMS rating is around 15-18 watts rms so a coaxial speaker with a lower Nominal rating that 15-18 rms is ideal now if your not totally against adding an amplifier and dont want to spend alot of money id suggest the Pioneer GMD-8604 its 100rms X 4 @ 4ohms u can get that amp for around $130 new maybe less if u shop around and buy you some nice 6.5" Coaxial speakers like the Orion XTR 6.5" 3way or the Rockford T1653 6.5" something that is good quality n has around 100-150rms that amp will put out closer to 150rms per ch at 4ohms so if i find a deal on some good brand spkr around that pwr range go for it

Separate the channels use ch 1 and 2 for the 6.5"s just run the positives together n negatives together 2 spkrs per channel then use channels 3 and 4 for the tweets ive used the same amp in multiple setups have a buddy thats got an 07 Silverado n literally runnin the same 6.5"s but we used McLaren tweets the same way it sounds really good and loud for what it is
@Tony2Pockets
@Tony2Pockets 3 жыл бұрын
On the crossover turn both to HP the channels u use for the tweets turn the crossover all the way up n adjust the gain those tweets are loud so id say 1/4 gain or less should be enough in my opinion anyway some ppl like a lil more on the 6.5"s set crossover on HP and frequency around 125hz that should give them a nice lil kick if u have a DD1 use that for the gain u wont need max it out on them honestly id turn it up in between 1/4 n 1/2 gain but use a DD1 and a CC1 if u can set everything up correctly then u can turn the gains back down a if u need too me personally i have both but i just slowly turned up the gain n listened to them n adjusted as needed but if ur not comfortable doin that im sure theres a fellow basshead around ur area that can help or a local shop to tune it for u

@@Tony2Pockets Thank you for the response and for going into depth on the details, so for channel 1 i would run the wires from each speaker directly to the amp and tie them together on the channel itself correct? Not wire one speaker to another and THEN run 1 wire to the channel? For the tweeters, i should put the HP on the amp all the way to 5k and leave it around there correct? Also, connecting the speakers as you are advising, will the amp be outputting at 4 ohm still or will it now be outputting at the 2ohm power which is 250W per channel

Been looking into this brand for some time now. I have no personal experience with this brand but have heard a demo of them. I'm planning on putting in a whole system in my car and plan on using ds18 for all mids and highs. As for the subs, I haven't decided if I wanna go with the elite z8 or the zvx 8 from skar. I don't have personal experience with skar either. But my goal for the system is to be loud and clear, and I think it would be cool and unique to use a brand hardly anyone has heard of, much less uses. Whichever brand I use for subs, I will be running 4 of them. I'm planning on running the ds18 pro x series mid-range loudspeakers and 2 (possibly 4) tweeters which are the pro-tw420 and pro-tw710. I'll be running 4 of the mid ranges, and have found an amp to push them. But not quite sure how to power the tweets. Do you have any advice or suggestions for amplifying them? And do you have any experience with the elite z8 subs? I apologise for writing all this in a comment. I couldn't find a way to PM you

Robert Medina first i apologize for not responding sooner i make it a point to respond to everyone.....now as for these i really like them there loud n crisp soundin even without tweets they are awesome these (and the neo) are a midrange so the bass wont be loud like a coaxial would in the bass dept but they are punchy and give a nice kick on certain songs i played with the crossover settings on multiple songs to try and find a good balance n make sure i wouldnt blow them with to much bass
@Tony2Pockets
@Tony2Pockets 7 жыл бұрын
Robert Medina also when choosin a 6.5" look at the frequency response of each spkr that gives u an idea of how low the spkr will play these are around 116hz (midrange spkrs) so ive got them set at around 125hz there are pro mids that will play into the 70-80hz (midbass spkrs) range which will give u a lil more bass if u dont have subs so u can always change the crossover to 125hz if u have subs in ur car

Honestly its personal preference and budget first i would look at the frequency response of the Ds18 n Rockfords n see how big the difference is but u will need to keep the lower power rockfords in mind use a good 4ch that will give good power to the DS18 n keep the gains lower to compensate for the Rockfords but the Rockford Prime 600.4 or a Rockford punch 1000.4 are some nice options if u need something a lil cheaper DS18 has a ton of 4ch options

U can do 6.5" in the front doors and the 4x6 is a waste of time id try to find someone local to make some adapter plates to mount to the 4x6" location to fit a 5.25 speaker u dont have to go pro audio theres some nice coaxials that will work n sound really good theres options like Rockford Fosgate, JL Audio, Focal brand like that and a 4ch that fits the RMS rating of the spkrs u choose chk out Crutchfield.com for options and a reputable place to order from

@Tony2Pockets
@Tony2Pockets 5 жыл бұрын
Well for starters ur gonna need multiple amps reason being is u have multiple types of spkrs that require different rms ratings as well as frequencies i would use a 4ch that will give u the pwr u need for the Pro mids so something around 400rms @ 2ohms run the 6.5 mids at 2ohms (ull need 4ohm versions wired in parallel pos to pos neg to neg) then run the 6x9s on the remaining 2 ch just keep in mind the lower pwr of the 6x9s amp #2 for the tweets and 3.5" lower powered u could run the 3.5" off the headunit n amplify the tweets set all gains according to pwr ratings dont push them to hard cross the 6.5" at about 125hz the 6x9s about 100hz

Depends on what u want it to sound like at the end of the day do u still want a lil bass or u just want it loud with a lil midbass with plans on installing subs do u plan on using factory amp or installing an aftermarket amp if you plan on using factory amp then look for something that isnt as high powered like some good quality coaxials that have a high sensitivity if u plan on installing aftermarket amp then those will be loud punchy and clear just make sure the depth will clear the window track if your plan is to install an aftermarket amp look into the Rockford Fosgate DSR1 it will allow you to integrate into the factory wiring while using the factory wiring and headunit

bigblock19721 mine is the rcas they are older and have a lil bleed through i think but ive heard ppl say its a grounding issue with the pioneer decks best way to track it down is ground the deck see if that helps or swap rcas maybe a ground loop isolater

Depends on budget if u want something thats not expensive and will sound good with enough power n flexibility look into the Skar RP 150.4 or the Skar SK200.4 the RP will be around that $200 area the SK will be around $300ish the Rockford Power 600.4 or the Rockford T600.4 those will be more expensive n a lil more on the SQ (sound quality) side just depends on what ur want it to be either will be loud

@@kapakahiproductions2501 go to rockford fosgates website under support then woofer wiring wizard then choose how many spkrs your tryin to wire together on each ch so pick 2 then select ohm load youll need 4ohm spkrs which will give u a 2ohm load per spkr

If u plan to do just 4 a 2ch amp would be best. Get ur spkrs at a 4ohm load and a 2ch amp thats atleast 5-600 watts rms at 2ohms stick with good quality brands ull need atleast a 1000watt 2ch amp thatll work run 2 spkrs per ch positive to positive and negative to negative

The actual amp is up to u and your budget if ur not worried about the cost then the doors open for a ton of options budget wise Skar has a 1300x2 thatll work just fine if u want better look into Rockford Fosgate or something along those lines chk out Droppinhzcaraudio.com

Sorry for the super late response but id reccomend an extra battery anytime u start adding multiple amps if its for some mids and highs u would be ok the power demand is really low for them compared to a sub amp sub amps draw large amounts of current (juice) n need extra batteries n alot of the time a bigger alternator

I don t want to be disappointed with the sound quality. Does Midrange speakers work only with an amp? I m not sure if I will install an amp...

If you do not plan to install an amp then i wouldnt recommend these look into something like the Infinity Reference or some Rockford Fosgates pay close attention to the "Nominal" wattage rating youll need something like 5watts and up that way it wont take an amp to sound good Crutchfield is a good place to look

Xesar Rx anytime u can lower the ohm load on an amp ull get more power out of it thats y a few companies like DS18 for example are now comin out with 9000watt full range amps that are 1ohm stable and can run subs or mids n highs they have a low pass and high pass on them capable of doin whatever u need it too

But to answer your question directly runnin at 2.67ohms was a huge difference from 4ohms it got alot louder it really woke the spkrs up and brought them to life my intention was to run 8 6.5" 8ohm mids at 2ohms 4 8ohm single voice coil spkrs run down to 2ohms

@Tony2Pockets 5 жыл бұрын
Appreciate u watchin the front doors are 6.5" the factories have adapter plates mounted to them so when u replace the factories ull need the adapter ring kit (less than $20) just put a thin layer of foam on the adapter n back of the spkr it helps with rattlin noises back doors are 5.25" these have room to cut the factory spkr out n make enough room to fit a 6.5" kickpanels came from crutchfield.com

Depends on how much power ur gonna run to them if its a lil lower (100/125watts) 125hz would be ok if u plan runnin a lil more (200+rms) then ull have to tune them higher maybe 220hz
@Tony2Pockets

Once ur gains are set start at 125hz turn the volume up to max without distortion see how that sounds if its to much bass turn the frequency up to 200hz or higher until theres no distortion and everything sounds clean and clear
