Its pretty amazing how perfectly this song describes my life so far. I used to be a pretty innocent and kind kid, dreaming about saving the world, help building a better place for everyone. It often happened that most people around me tried to make me feel ashamed of me. Bullies n shit. As that happened constantly i started doubting myself and found myself into a pretty nasty, excessive long-term depression At first i was sure its my fault that i dont seem to fit anywhere and find a place to call my own. But then i started asking myself, what if its not me, but EVERYONE else? At the beggining, it was just a way to deal with my severe depression. Helped me handle the guilt i felt for simply being me. But eventually i started to believe in that, that I'm an amazing person and its everyone else's fault that they cant see that. Arrogance steps into your heart slowly but surely. Eventually you really start to set yourself on fire, just to kill all the pain and grow tolerant to it. That's how you learn to use your shield as a weapon rather than something to protect yourself with. Even if you grow aware of this, i believe its almost impossible to let it go. The hate, the arrogance, the anger wont simply go away. Eventually you turn into the savior of nothing, killing everything you once loved in disgust and disappointment. You learn to be stronger on your own, but for that strength you will pay with your happiness and completely block the return path. If you know people like this, dont abandon them. If you do, they will eventually become someone else entirely.

This album caught me offguard how they switched from heavy to ballads but overall I think they nailed it. It's nice to hear a different side of Disturbed I just hope they don't forget their metal origins and the next one has more a heavy theme.

The way I see it, this song decries the way that ideological and/or political extremism stifles civil discourse and foments hatred. The verse "But you think their beliefs / Make them less than you..." pretty much hits the nail on the head. Meaningful dialogue that can lead to an equitable conflict resolution isn't possible when any people who have an opposing viewpoint are being demonized.

I am seriously disturbed by some of the comments. Being an activist is not necessarily a bad thing. Being pro certain rights with a sane mind as well. Standing up for reasonable rights is not a bad thing. There is a difference between speaking up against social shortcomings and just unreasonable anger towards everyone and everything which is the result of abuse or bullying when you were younger. This song is about the people who take revenge and go mad because they were broken when they were younger. A lot of people end up with narcisstic personality disorder because of childhood traumas. And then they are adults that are self-centered and vengeful.
