Jerri MacMeekin was celebrating her first Fourth of July as a mother on Lake Conroe when her life was tragically cut short. MacMeekin fell overboard after a horrifying boat crash and it took two hours for her lifeless body to be discovered. Once Texas police began investigating, they found two people allegedly at fault for her death - one being her brother-in-law. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber breaks down the disturbing details of her death.

@@mlsa9520 I read and write and comprehend perfectly fine "Drinking and driving/boating is so irresponsible, but getting into a boat with someone who is drinking and driving is just as irresponsible. People seriously need to use common sense." The statement implies that people should not get into a boat with someone who is drinking and driving, suggesting that those who do are also being irresponsible. In the context of the girl who got on a boat and ultimately died, this statement could be more than likely as victim shaming. It places partial blame on the person who got into the boat, implying that they lacked common sense, rather than focusing solely on the irresponsibility of the driver. So maybe you didn’t read it correctly. And maybe you lack common sense

Drunken boating is a huge problem in EVERY state. It's bad enough to drive a boat hammered during the day, but in the dark, it's even more absurd! Why was the bond so low? 🤦🏾‍♀️ that’s not what they said. They were talking in terms of civil litigation & whether the husband could bring any against the men who were driving the boats. No one is trying to blame the husband. They specifically spoke about comparative negligence, including both the husband’s & her own negligence (choosing to be on the boat drinking with captains they knew were also drinking, at night.. choosing to not wear life jackets, etc..) possibly being factors or a defence (for the accused) in any lawsuits he may choose to file. Not sure how u pulled one specific short sentence out of an entire discussion on the topic to misinterpret so much.. 🤔

I say this every time I talk about boating or am out on my Phantom168. Make sure you know who you’re boating with and make sure they are a real captain. From the moment the individual decides to to take others on there vessel they need to be prepared to do whatever it takes to keep his or her passengers safe. After being on the water for the last 15 years consistently I’ve come to realize there are way too many amateur boaters out there, and there are way too many people out there not taking human life or the water seriously.

I used to spend nearly every weekend at this lake in the 90s, it was a hidden gem, Lake Conroe. But around the late 90s, bars were opened and tethered boat parties started happening, and what used to be a quiet boating scene really changed. We stopped going there after seeing some pretty bad boating accidents once it became that crowded. That was 20 years ago tho. Sad to hear of this.

@@hellofoodiebeauties yeah doubt he was drunk when they rented the boat considering the rental company would never have handed a drunk the keys. This is akin to getting in the car with someone sober then the driver knocking them back on the highway. What's she supposed to do? Jump out and start swimming back to shore while they're already in the middle of the lake? Or better yet call the cops on her own family? Great idea. He's the captain he's responsible for his actions and the safety of those on board. She's allowed to get drunk, he's not. It's called personal responsibility. Yes, she should have been wearing a life jacket, but this wouldn't have happened if he never drank anything. For some reason you see a little bit of yourself reflected in this guy and don't like the possibility of him facing any responsibility for it and feel the need to defend his abhorrent actions that caused the death of another, which I'm betting you he's not defending and shame on you for saying she deserved what she got. But your karma is waking up being you every day.
