I love doing Expedition Everest at night. The nighttime lighting gives the mountain a more mysterious vibe and makes the coaster more exciting. Also the wait times drop thanks to Rivers of Light, but that’s more of a bonus for me.

Big Thunder is actually faster at night. It has something to do with the metal rails heating up from friction of the wheels as the trains pass over it continuously during the day. As a former Disneyland Cast Member, this is common knowledge for those who worked that attraction. ;)

There's something to riding Tower of Terror at dusk/twilight when the park starts to light up! It's also so much more atmospheric at night, and you can see the ghost in the window much easier than you can during the day.

The views from your room at the top of that spooky hotel are pretty amazing! The elevators are a little crazy though!

Pandora, the land itself (independent of the two rides), is (obviously) an amazing night time attraction. Being there at dusk in order to physically see and hear the transition to night is a must. Also gotta love Everest at night, esp. considering how low the wait times can get for it.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is AMAZING at night!!!! It's just like you said about Big Thunder. It keeps you in the theme of being in a mine (🎶 in a mine, where a million diamonds shine🎶). Also, the scene at the end with Snow dancing in the house is easier to see and the haggard Evil Queen seems to be more menacing than in the daytime.

One of my best DW experiences was during my honeymoon: Jungle Cruise, at night, and for whatever reason, there was no line. My husband and I were the only ones on the boat. Skipper still did her whole routine, and we were as good of a tiny audience as we could be!

Expedition Everest is truly amazing at night. The darkness really adds to the suspense and thrill of escaping the yeti. I wish this made your list as an honorable mention.

One attraction that I think is similar to Haunted Mansion in that the overall experience is better at night even though it is indoors is Na'vi River Journey. When the whole land of Pandora is lit with its bioluminescence, and you journey into the forest that it is also lit, it makes the experience as a whole better imo.

According to Disney when you ride big thunder during the day all the workers are sleeping, then at night it's their time to party. Good hint during the day its quiet at night you can hear them having a party!!!

On my last Disney trip, we happened to get on Astro Orbiter just as the Fireworks were starting. Afterwards, we ran to the People Mover and finished out the Fireworks there. I think that was the ultimate nighttime experience.

I'm weird and I love Spaceship Earth at night (even though it's indoors). As far as MK goes, I loooove People Mover at night as well, especially around Christmas time when the castle is all sparkly!

Expedition Everest at night is such a awesome experience. With limtied lighting in there makes the ride play with your senses more.

I love riding Dumbo at night. The lights are beautiful and matched with the relaxing cool breeze it’s a great way to end a day at the Magic Kingdom.

Something about doing Na’vi River Journey at night is amazing. It really just flows with going onto a ride filled with bioluminescence and then stepping off into Pandora when it’s all lit up

Tower of Terror at night is so amazing!! I love that there is that dark, spooky atmosphere (similar to Haunted Mansion) but also that when you see the park on the ride, you can see all the bright lights and stuff. It is also nice because usually you know when the big window thing opens during the day because of the heat, and then the bright lights just kill your eyes but at night its perfect because its breezier and you get a great view!

How can you possibly forget Expedition Everest at night? THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Ride it either during Rivers of Light Show or as soon as that show gets out and it's practically walk-on. You can go several times. The view of the park(s) from that huge incline is breath taking!

managed this in 2006 with my then-gf-now-wife and it was incredible. 10 years later rode the matterhorn in disneyland during the fireworks and got a different but the same feeling. i started yelling “we’re doing it!!!”

Splash mountain is amazing at night!!! It’s so much better. It seems faster for some reason, scarier and you get soaked. Love everything about it.

Kali River Rapids is so much better at night! My kids were obsessed with this ride, and we rode it over and over during the day. We went at night once, and we thought, “why did we ride it during the day?!? The fog from the “burnt forest” was so eerie in the dark, and you could see the lights from the truck. Not knowing where the bumps were coming, etc made it more exciting too!

" Sure, the sun gives us light and all that stuff...". - Ryno. 😁 What really surprised us at night time was Kali River Rapids in AK. They have a spectacular job with the lighting and fog effects, turning a kind of ho hum ride by day into something amazing.

Mansion at night during MNSSHP is the best, but Splash at night creeps the hell out me! I once rode it completely alone, no one else in the queue, no one in any of the boats around me, just me and a bunch of singing animals and banjo music in the dark, it was like a scene from Deliverance! Only riding in the daytime for awhile now,lol

I love all kinds of roller coasters, and it’s common knowledge that for most outdoor roller coasters they run faster the longer it operates so obviously they are quicker at night, and the sensory deprivation of the darkness allows you to really hone on, on what you can see. So many roller coaster enthusiasts will specifically try to get a night ride on any coaster they can since they are almost all better at night. So...... what I’m trying to say is I agree, Thunder Mountain rocks at night!

Test Track at night. When I was a CP, the first night in the apartment, my roommates and I decided to go to Epcot and ride Test Track and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had.

Great discussion guys. I agree about BTM and Haunted Mansion. Husband and I were there last Sept. during MNSSHP. After riding HM ride at night we walked outside into the extra fog and saw the cast member sitting out by the windows and interacting with guests, it was great!

Another great thing about riding Big Thunder Mt at night, if you time it right, is seeing the fireworks going off when you get to the top.

I’d also add expedition Everest for the same reasons as big thunder and jungle cruise (lighting, eyes adjusting, and feeling faster) and Tower of Terror for the same reasons as Haunted Mansion. Completely agree with the list tho!!

Charles, we did the Haunted Mansion on Halloween night, and we couldn't agree with you more. Plus, the added lighting and effects at the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only enhance the aura. Our kids did it for the first time that night, and they loved it. It was the best.

My top two are People mover at night so you can see all of Tomorrowland with all of it's lights on. The nighttime lighting in Tomorrowland makes Land feel right. But Big Thunder mountain at night is amazing. I did get to ride it with my wife during wishes once where we got to the top of that hill and were looking up at the big fireworks just going off. Then as we came around another bend you see the finale of fireworks. Truly a magical moment that was not planned at all. We have since tried to ride during the fireworks and nothing has come close to that ride, perfect timing.

We didn’t plan it this way on purpose, but when we went this month, we didn’t get around to Haunted Mansion until after dark and I couldn’t help but notice that it was more fun waiting in the queue at night.

I agree about Haunted Mansion. The walk up in the dark really sets the scene. It also seems like the sound effects are louder at night, but I don't know if that is really the case.

How has no one else said Country Bear Jamboree???? On the nights where Epcot closes earlier than MK, many folks who spent the day drinking around the world hop on the monorail to MK. And some of them end up in the CBJ and it makes for some of the funniest shows when the crowd feels confident enough to sing and dance along.

I agree with Ryno, my number one is Big Thunder. Just a completely different experience. Outside of MK I'd say Everest. Just did that for the first time at night a few months ago and it was awesome !

Similarly to Charles's reasons for HM, Tower of Terror is better at night. That dusk atmosphere just makes the ride spookier. Bonus points if it's overcast/drizzling.

Our most magical Disney moment was riding Splash Mountain coming over that briar patch with the fireworks going off. We were going home the next day and it topped off the trip very nicely. I can’t wait to go on Jungle Cruise at night! I love Expedition Everest at night. The yeti is that much more fun in the dark. Great topic and great pics guys!

I wholeheartedly agree with all of your guys' picks! All of these are much better experiences at night. Honorable mentions, if sticking to the MK-theme, would be the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and PeopleMover. Two defunct attractions at the MK that I really miss riding at night were the Skyway and 20K Under the Sea. Looking forward to another episode on this topic possibly with the other 3 parks!

I never really thought about it until this episode, but Magic Kingdom is an incredible park at night. Love it. Also loved how you played a video of some of the attractions you were talking about during your descriptions. Really enjoyed it!

Excellent video as usual. I love the playful banter between all of you. Your chemistry is infectious. I do have a very irrational pet peeve. I absolutely loathe when people don't include the BIG in BIG Thunder Mountain. The "Big" plays a major role in the name. For example, at Disneyland people never refer to it as just Thunder Trail. And the back area was never called Thunder Ranch and Thunder BBQ. End rant, haha. ;-) I absolutely enjoy these Best and Worst of videos. Please keep them coming!

Congrats on 100k! These were some good ones and I agree, this should have been Top 5 in MK. The next one should be Top 5 outside the MK. There is not like the Safari at night, Tower of Terror, Everest and Kali River. I haven't rode Slinky dog but I bet that is a good one too.

Totally agree with Charles about the Haunted Mansion! The last attraction my friends and I did this past summer was the haunted mansion and it was a better experience than doing it during the daylight.

I would probably say test track because once you come out of the dark building for the speed test you get blinded with bright light. At night this doesn't happen so it is more enjoyable for me.

Great list, you all had thoughtful comments and all the choices were so on point. Craig’s choice is MY favorite. Astro Orbitors is perfect at the end of the evening. Truly a treat. WDW need to add the effects to the Haunted Manson year round on the exterior of the building. Why not have fog throughout the year? Your Thunder Mountain needs this explosive effects in the inside upward hill. Not much going on in that tunnel. 🙁

The first time I rode the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, we waited for a really long time but it worked out perfectly. The only way I can describe it is that I felt I was in the feel good scene of some movie. As we came out of the first tunnel area the fireworks started going off. After that every time we came into the open air there seemed to be fireworks lighting up right in front of us. I'm not sure how they were always right there but it was amazing. It made the two hour wait worth it.

Roller coaster takes heat up throughout the day and they tend to actually move faster in the evening and early night. Also, many rollercoasters turn off the midcourse brakes at night though I don't think that is the case with Big Thunder Mountain.

I think you guys are talking about Madame Carlotta (outside the Haunted Mansion) And I think Disney should give HM the full Halloween Party treatment all the time. It wouldn't be hard or add much cost. Haunted Mansion remains one of their Top Attractions of all time & it deserves the "spotlight".

Because we said pretty early in the video that this wasn’t going to be the only video we do on this and if we started listing honorable mentions then there is no point in revisiting this subject.
