That brightens my day! Lucia and Sona with her singular voices. I was so lucky, hearing Lucia in different parts, when she was a member of the Cologne opera ensemble as well at the Vienna State Opera, but never as Arabella, therefore as Zdenka with Janowitz, Waechter, Gruberova and so on. For me, Lucia allways was personalized music, and I‘m so thankful for every tone, I heard of her. And Sona with her wonderful voice, is also one of the outstanding artists, I could experience on stage: Oscar, Violetta, Mimi and others, but always in top form. I remember wonderful opera performances with her. Thank you, making it possible hearing them both in the Arabella-Zdenka Duett! As I mentioned already: It brightens my day!

une génération de chanteuses dont les aigus maîtrisés sont chantés et non criés et dont le phrasé est impeccable.

Je suis d'accord. Aujourdhui les cantatrices cris. Ils ne chante pas ! Ils ne conaissent plus "Messa di Voce". They are just loud the today's singers instead of real singing and emotion ! They want to show the volume of their voices. Not the meaning of the pieces!!

C'est pas vrai....c'est la nostalgie des grandes chanteuses du passé qui vous fait dire ça. Je dirais plutôt qu'aujourd'hui, les sopranos, on ne les entend plus après le 2ème rang...ni les autres d'ailleurs. Exemple : Jeanine de Bique dans Rodelinda de Handel, superbe timbre et grande musicalité, mais totalement inaudible en salle.

@@Alix777. vous n'avez pas à dire "c'est pas vrai" je ne parle pas que des sopranos mais des cantatrices en général. Et vous confirmez implicitement ce que je dis que les sopranos qui n'ont pas le coffre. Le phrasé c'est la diction qui permet que les paroles sont compréhensibles quelque soit la langue. Et le fait du chant non crié c'est que les notes sont chantées sans être poussées vers des fortissimo qui se transforment en aigus stridents. Il y a des grandes sopranos actuelles du niveau des "anciennes": Gheorghiu, Petitbon, Jo, Netrebko, Delaviehle.

Déjà le phrasé et la diction sont deux choses tout à fait différentes. Je sais d'avance que vous n'êtes pas musicien, encore moins chanteur. Les chanteuses (actuelles ? vous plaisantez) que vous citez, la plupart ayant plus de 50 ans ou sans intérêt sont des voix mainstream pour amateurs comme vous, des gens qui écoutent radio classique en faisant la vaisselle. Anita Rachvelishvili, Klára Kolonits ou Marina Prudenskaya sont des noms qui vous sont inconnus, mais ce sont elles les grandes chanteuses d'aujourd'hui.

@@Alix777. @Alix vues vos références, l'étroitesse de vos choix enferme complètement votre jugement. Vous m'avez fait beaucoup rire car vous redites exactement ce que j'avance sur le phrasé et la diction que j'ai bien différenciés. Vous êtes dans l'absolu et péjorative quant à mes goûts, mes choix. Les voix que j'ai citées sont des voix entendues en salle ou concert. Mais que je réécoute bien volontiers sur ma chaîne pas toujours en faisant la vaisselle évidemment. Par ailleurs vous êtes le prototype même de ce qui fait le malheur de l'Opéra, cet espèce d' élitisme pédant qui oublie que l'Opéra est d'abord et avant tout un spectacle populaire à l'origine sic Vérone entre autres. Ne soyez pas réductrice.

Fascinating how Ghazarian shots the high C's effortlessly yet delicately and with a lot of taste ! Very singular ! She IS music. I can hear this masterpiece again and again.

Merveilleux duo !!! Beaucoup de sopranos font ou faisaient de la musique, Lucia Popp était la musique et l'entendre est toujours un ravissement des oreilles et de l'âme ! j'ajoute que Sonia Ghazarian est également magnifique et que R.Strauss sous un aspect plutôt froid devait être un grand sentimental pour avoir composé cet air divin.

I've been familiar with the sublime trio at the end of "Rosenkavalier" for decades now, but just discovered this duet, a piece in a similar musical vein. What a treasure -- especially with Popp and Gazarian ... aaah !

Weeeell, it is SO rarely sung THIS well as these two ladies sing it here... it is Sublime but also very very difficult to be sung well... if done well it is Oneiric

Absolutely great singing!🙏🌹😪 I saw both of them very often - Lucia Popp always was a goddess for me, Ghazarian even a great Lucia! How nice to hear them together - my Fav stays Lorengar/Augér, I think …. But I’m not sure anymore 😂

Oh my God - what a jewel you share with us. Popp and La Ghazarian with her extraordinary and brilliant voice with those exquisite high notes bring me to heaven. I had goosebumps hearing this very difficult Duett. God bless. I have seen Ghazarian in so many leading roles - Lucia, Rigoletto, Sonnambula, Capuleti, Traviata. Always in Top form. Thanks for sharing !
