Number 40 chain does not have 3/4" pitch, it has 1/2" pitch. No uni-link, it's a "master link". Half-links are a no-no ... they are too weak....but might work in this application. If you need to take out a half-link, then the chain is worn ("stretched") and needs to be replaced.

Enjoyed the videos. I just got a Dixon ZTR 361 vintage 1990. Seems to be in decent shape for $300. Replaced drive chains, added fuel filter, rebuilt carb. Seems to run good for its age. Question is the short chains have a lot of play in them. I've got the replacement 15" chains should I just go on and replace them? Seems to me like they should be as tight as the drive chains. Zero turn seems to track straight and cones look good. I just don't like the slop in the the chains and knowing they're probably original too

ahh 44, young man, ha ha :-)) Now that is one hell of a link, i would have that flash chrome plated and keep it as an orliment :-) Or if your money strapped, clean and polish, then apply some clearcoat.

my dixon after it gets hot it won't turn left or right won't back up or go forward what do i need too do to it besides setting it on fire lol
