Nice find and repair, I'm refurbishing a Dixon 4422 now, lots of bearings, lube, and TLC needed that it hasn't gotten in a while.

That’s great, you should be proud, it was a great idea in mower design, my son has a Dixon mower, maybe someday I will be able to buy it from him, I would love to own one, but they have always been a little pricey for me,

one of the original zero turns great mowers. easy to work on and simple if you understand them. I have 1987 model 331 and it is still going strong. the deck hub is a yearly fixdeal but easy to do. I have been looking for a scrapper to use for parts as they have discontinued the mower. you can still order parts for them though anyone got a fixer upper they want to part with

I have rebuilt my cone drive system on my 3014... Its not really very difficult, but a bit time consuming... If you end up tackling one and have any questions, I can help... Dixons were made in Coffeyville, Kansas, I make deliveries there for Boeing to a machine shop; a number of the employees there used to build Dixons...

That rocks. I have been looking for a 3304 Dixon with that drive for some time. I have a 40 inch Gravely zero turn and I love it but I want a cone drive Dixon. Guess I'm old school.

Definitely a good deal I believe those mowers are worth quite a bit of money. I bet you it was brought to a shop and they were told the engine was blown.

its possible , it had a brand new spark plug , air filter , fresh carb rebuild , new fuel line , a good battery and a full tank of fresh gas when i bought it , someone really tried to get it running , they should have checked the valves .

I love when people throw out their non working stuff and just buy a new one, that's when people like us come in and pay nearly nothing for the things we want and need, knowledge truly is power. Nice job. I actually got a dixon mower a couple days ago for free and it just needs a steering adjustment

This video showed the part of the motor I was looking for. My brother has a Dixon zero turn and he says there's a pipe coming from the engine that is open, I couldn't see one on this motor but he says after he turns the mower off all the oil is syphoned out through that pipe. He is very sick and cannot get out to his barn to work on it but I just took a shot since you own a Dixon you might know what I am talking about. I have no idea what model it is or anything else about it other than it's a Dixon. I'm assuming if oil is being syphoned out of the engine after it is turned off it would be for a specific reason, thank you and I hope this made some kind of sense.

What the frigg scrap yard are you going to. What kinda nut would scrap that ? ?
@TheRandomMechanic
@TheRandomMechanic 5 жыл бұрын
I was going to green metal recycling here in fort worth but they no longer set aside mowers , atvs , bicycles or anything else cool , they crush it all as soon as it comes in , i asked the owner why they wont save anything anymore and he said its because if the guys working out in the yard cant afford to buy it themselves they will crush it so no one else can have it , that's a pretty crappy way to run a business if you ask me , they also lowered the payout price for scrap to the point that it is no longer worth it to even drive over there a whole bed load of scrap doesn't even cover the cost of the fuel to get there anymore , my last trip there i had 500 lbs of scrap and that usually brings me around 45 bucks but this last time i only made $6 , they are also under new management and they are extremely rude to the customers , so i quit going , its back to craigslist surfing and trash picking for me .

Could you give me an idea why the chain on our mower keeps coming off? We bought a new chain and can’t see any damage to any parts. Every time we drive it, it drives for a little while and then the chain slips off.
@TheRandomMechanic
@TheRandomMechanic 6 жыл бұрын
there are a few things that can cause this , either your small drive sprocket is worn down , the chain could be too loose , or the sprockets are miss aligned meaning one of off to one side and causing the chain to walk off , i had this same problem with mine the small sprocket was worn down just enough to make the chain pop off and it eventually broke the sprocket , you can also put the rear of the mower up on jack stands and make sure the axle doesn't have any side to side movement maybe a loose wheel or worn out spacer ,
@mikenunya5606
@mikenunya5606 4 жыл бұрын
I don't know if yours has one but my Dixon has a chain tensioner and from what I hear and what I've experienced they do not work well. Constant adjusting and the all thread piece is prone to bending. May not be the case with yours but worth a look

@TheRandomMechanic
@TheRandomMechanic 6 жыл бұрын
it sounds like your cone drive needs to be adjusted or your clutches replaced , its probably worn down and barely making contact , i have not personally adjusted one before but i hear that you only want to adjust it a little bit at a time because you can break it if you go too far ,
