Great video Dony....I dragged my Toro S140 from the garage attic after prolly 20 yrs, would start on starting fluid but quit when it ran out. So got on here and saw your video and ordered the parts kit. Tore it down and disassembled carb, all gummed up and packed full of guck. Soaked and cleaned with carb cleaner then reassembled and set it up as your video showed. Put new gas in it and it started the first pull!!! Runs like a Swiss watch.....thanks again Dony !!!

I really appreciate your tutorial on the diaphragm replacement. I have a CR 20 Toro which is very similar to the model you were working on. Removing the cover is a ridiculously difficult job, because for one thing, my choke cable is a solid rod which means you have to bend it to remove it from the linkage rather than just bending a cable and pulling it out. I don't understand why Touro didn't keep up with the system on the earlier model that had a removable panel over the carburetter section so that access could be gained without removing the whole shroud... keep up the great work we all appreciate it out here!

Donyboy- my Toro S - 200 had the F1 on the back bottom side of the carburetor and I was looking at your video at 5:53 that was a big help because I was confused when I was rebuilding the carb. The 1979 toro S - 200 runs again ! I've been working on random mechanical / electrical equipment myself here in there since I was about 11 years old. looks like you probably have done the same. Great job and great video thanks for the help.

I have the successor to that one you just worked on,mine being a CR-20.I bought it brand new on Nov7 1987...(Yup 33 years old!) ...I use this blower every year and have only had to change out the scraper on the bottom and a new spark plug every year.Trick to keeping this running and starting every year is to use fresh gas and good mix oil(Amsoil) and drain gas every year.I have seen lots of videos regarding the damage Ethanol in the gas has caused(stiff diaphragms,etc)...I have yet to take my carb apart...I dunno,lucky I guess?! I may try some TruFuel 40:1 pre-mixed fuel this winter,only because it supposed to last 2 years once opened and I want to try it anyway.
@ericwilliams2574
@ericwilliams2574 2 жыл бұрын
My weed eater and my leaf blower are the same way. Ethanol is corrosive to aluminum, and alot of folks forget to drain and purge their power equipment engines 2 and 4 cycle engines. I dump any fuel through a filter and into my crown vic, the 32:1 mix I buy i actually disperse with some seafoam/MMO into my push and riding mowers and run them out with it each fall.

I rebuilt the carb including a new needle, seat and diaphragm, carefully installing the seat and diaphragm according to instruction in your last video, repeated here. Hey Donyboy, I recently found a Toro Snapper 17 (LE3170R) that wouldn't start. I replaced the carb, gas filter and tested the spark plug that I cleaned and had spark. It started and ran for 10 minutes until I shut it off. When I went to restart is approx 10 min later she wouldn't start again. I had also placed bit of seafaom in the tank when I had it running. Any idea what the issue may be?

Hi Dony. I need your help. I bought a new toro large single stage 4 cycle snow blower 2 years ago. I need details on checking the oil and filling the oil. Should the blower be sitting on it wheels to check the oil or tipped up, because the dipstick is kind of low and hard to get to. also, where do you add oil....through the dipstick hole. Sounds very stupid, but I don't want to over fill it or burn it up by not putting oil in it. Thanks.

I'm working on a Gilson snowblower. Its basically an old toro s200. I rebuild the carb and changed the diaphragm. I have it running pretty good but not prefect and I seems to me that the motor is reving to high. The carb doesn't have 2 adjustment screws on the side of it like the toro, it only has one and then the screw and spring for the throttle. Someone had changed the throttle screw, it was pushed all the way in on the top of carb. Where sound this screw be set to? I have the other screw set to 1 3/4 turns. Its a tecumseh motor, I believe about a 3hp and earily 1970's.

I found one of these in the neighbor's trash pile about ten years ago, this one has the conventional float carburetor...Pretty much unstoppable after cleaning/rebuilding the carb and repairing the recoil...Yeah, this thing isn't going to go through big drifts, or hard packed snow left at the end of the driveway by the plow, but still does alot of work for its size...Nothing much to maintain, a new belt/rubber blades every few years, along with a new starter rope/grip now and then...I mix the oil heavier than recommended also... The engine is finally getting a little fussy this year, am hoping it is just a crappy plug, even though it is a relatively new champion....Do you have any spark plug recommendations for these engines?

Donny The vids are always awesome. Can you show us your way of replacing a broken idler arm spring on an ariens snowblower. It is pretty tricky given the amount of room you have. I slid it in with a pair of pliers and hooked it on the snowblower body. I then pulled it into place with a hook and seated it on the idler arm with a screwdriver. (2 hours to figure this out). Do you have a better, easier way?

Squanto357 - that's exactly what my S-200 was doing. I picked up a carb rebuild kit on Amazon for $9.00. Generally when I have this happen on a piece of equipment that does not have a diaphragm in the carburetor it usually tells me that the main jet is clogged with some debris so therefore I must open it up and clear it out. Check out Dony's videos He has done one hell of a job. 👍

Hello Dony, I have a question about my MTD Snow king. It's a 5hp tecumseh engine, I think, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyhow, as I was using the snow blower, I had it running for about 15 minutes and everything was fine at first. I had recently replaced the auger belt. To the point, As it was running a considerable amount of oil just started pouring out of the head and onto the engine. This isn't something I have seen before, the engine was still running fine, but I did shut it of right away. I'm not sure what happened, (Head Gasket, pistón rings, exhaust valve??) what does your experience think? MTD yard machines snow king 31a-611d062 2001. Thanks for your time in advance. Cory

I did the carb rebuild kit (#631893A) on my Jiffy model 30 (tecumseh AV520 670119S (B)) and it runs for about 15 seconds and then sputters out... it has the carb (stamped with an F) from the video on it and it seems to only start/run if i push the primer, and when i do that there is a bit of gas leaking out of the diaphragm cover.. or around there? possibly the plastic hose part? I'm at a loss! I did do the full kit other than the little steel plates.

Normally what I end up doing for customers is replacing the diaphragm carburetor with a float carburetor mainly because they are more readily available and easier to work on. You also don’t have to worry about the diaphragms going bad.

I was wondering this. I have an old "Ariens ST 2+2" model 932015. I see carbs on Amazon with floats that look like they would fit and the throttle and choke points look similar. Gas was leaking from the carb and by the time you get gaskets, needle o-rings, etc.. you might as well just buy a new carb. And of course I lost a little washer for the idle screw that goes between the spring and o-ring. It didn't come out like the main adjustment washer did and when I sprayed carb cleaner in there I noticed it had come out.
@Omegadoomship
@Omegadoomship 2 жыл бұрын
@@jm97240 You have to look up parts based on the engine model number for engine parts, not the snowblower itself. There are a lot of similar looking carbs but some may have slight differences. Make sure you get the right carburetor for your engine.

All Tecumseh 2-cycle engines equipped with a Tecumseh diaphragm carb use the same replacement diaphragm & needle/seat. The part #'s may be different but those are the exact same parts. You may try visiting a local mom & pop outdoor power equipment shop. There should be a number stamped on the carb flange that I would suggest you write down & bring with in case the dealer might need to cross reference parts for you.

This is exactly same as my 1980s Simplicity 220 snowblower. I think both have the same parts. Now who is the real manufacturer is a big mystery!!!

How to I tell the difference between 2 cycle and 4 cycle?

Larry Lafferty - One quick way is look for a port to add oil on the crankcase/engine. Two cycles lawn / snowblower equipment should not have that due to they use a pre-mixed fuel only in the fuel tank this lubricates the engine. If you look on dirt bikes and ATVs that are two cycle they will have a separate engine port for engine oil but that is specifically made for the gears and clutches to function properly and reduce friction. If it's a newer to cycle lawn and garden equipment they typically run 50:1 gas while mixture in the gas tank. Older models were generally 32:1 mixtures. I believe they changed it because of tighter tolerances, better oils such as synthetics and last but not least emissions.

The Toro site has the operator's manuals for your model, and what you need should be on page 8. I download one of them .

Strange machine. It picks up snow then blows it onto the area you're trying to clean. But I'm from the Southern hemisphere.

Hi DB, Im sorry, but on this one Im going to disagree with you. Why would you replace the diaphragm and not clean out the jets and the needle/seat? Even if you were not replacing those other parts, why would you only do half the job? You know as well as I that if your service had not worked out, you would be back in there tearing it apart a second time....
