Just bought a 2008 Santa Fe, 1 owner, garage kept with only 43,000 miles on it (an elderly lady had it. Didn't drive a lot). Drives good. Will it hold up with no major transmission or engine problems for the next few years? Would be a bummer if it gives me major trouble in the near future given the low miles and maintenance history.

As long as you do regular maintenance it can last over 200k miles. I had a truck that did 315k

im a hyundai tech dont use a fram oil filter they are garbage either oem or wix napa gold but stay far away from fram

And generally, is it the years or the miles that matter more when it comes to engine and transmission life? Assume a regularly maintained vehicle. And, I'm assuming your almost 300k miles are mostly highway miles? Have u had to replace engine, transmission etc??? To my little understanding, Hyundai from those days are not known to last 300k miles.

Miles matter more, in my opinion. Everything is original for the motor and tranny.

Depends on the engine. Owners manual will tell you.

That's fine. But based on what scientific proof? Preferance is almost always anecdotal.
