Amazon affiliate links to some of the parts for the bench and chairs.
amzn.to/2XTRB4m - coleman 28 quart cooler
amzn.to/2UAOI6p - stainless steel utility hinge
amzn.to/2T3XIzy - 1-5/8 coated deck screws (5 pounds, a bit more than you need for one bench, but once you build one of these you'll probably want to make some tables and single chairs to go with it.)
If you need some tools:
amzn.to/2TD3E7P - Dewalt job-site table saw
amzn.to/2W35Lyt - Ridgid cordless tools that I currently use. Great kit
amzn.to/2TAgnrV - Ridgid cordless jigsaw. On my shopping list right now
amzn.to/2FcwGCs - Skil corded jig saw. This is the one I currently use.

I grew up next door to a man who made this furniture. He also built wooden swing & slide sets. All sat outside for customers to check out, and neighborhood kids like me to swing & slide on. Nice practical build.

Nice video and great idea. I thought of the same thing a few months ago when I went to throw out our old reclining lazy boy couch, and noticed under the old beat up leather the frame was solid. I stripped one down and it works great 👍🏻. Lol just need the time to do the rest of the couch

What a FANTASTIC idea that takes a normal adirondack bench for two and allows us to keep our fav beverage(s) close by. I'm curious as to how much more difficult it would have been to have made this same bench with a curved back and curved seat for added comfort that could be enjoyed for hours? Have you considered that kind of build? Then we would never want to get up. LOL!!

@haystack17
@haystack17 18 күн бұрын
Hopefully, I can save some people some hassle. This design from his video and plans is not supportive. It will pull out screws as you lean back. The back rest relies on a couple screws at the back of cross bar into the back of each arm rest. The arm rest pulls on the front and rips right out in no time. I bought the plans for the cut list and started building. A few minor changes but not structural changes. If you look 15 seconds into the video there are perpendicular braces behind the cooler. These are absolute game changers. After my 2nd one failed I messaged him and he said the crossbar was enough. It is NOT. After my third one failed which included a few different things it still failed. The first 2 failed twice. I have since added perpendicular pieces to the crossbar in the back on the 2 inside legs about 16 inches tall. Finally, it is solid. I could go over all of the other changes but the expectation for the cross bar being pulled straight back to support you leaning back is not physically possible. So if anyone buys the plans, add a couple vertical supports as they are not shown in the build or the plans.

@@GooseRustic I read through the chair plans and they are very detailed and look great. One question is on the back seat support that connects the two arm rest yo the back. What's the angle measurement of that piece (H)? The plans just show a half inch angle to edge but no degree. If you had the angle measurement it would be easy to rip on a table. Other 5han that the plans are very thorough and easy to follow. I'll try making one this spring once it's warmer outside. Thanks again!
