Sterlite makes a nice rubber made tote in 18 gallon size that is a little taller and softer plastic (no breaking). Also, using an aquarium pump domes with fittings that connect to pvc fittings better as well as a/c standard wiring that plugs in directly. On my setup, I drilled the wire access on side of the bin near the top (as opposed to the lid). Nice job on the project overall. I use mine as a closer and get roots at about 5 days on cuttings.

After you poke through with the pilot bit on the hole saw, try putting it in reverse and going through. It prevents cracking the plastic because the teeth dont catch, it more or so kinda melts through. Makes a cleaner hole

You can add an empty bottle to the pipe, it'll greatly improve your pressure, should angle the outside valves a bit inwards or move it all the way up and have it spray sideways, less chance of getting water everywhere, but all in all, broken lid and duct tape, great successful build man 💪🥳🙏 hope to see more videos like this and what you're growing in there, best of everything 🙏 greetings from Thailand 🙏

I like that you used clear bins to show how it is fully assembled. I was hoping for a follow-up with it running and still in the clear bin. I figured you were clever enough to know that it had to be dark when you start growing plants. Unlike other commentary that was rudely stated to that fact.

Hey mate, good setup. Build something pretty similar. If i may give you a tipp from my experiences, a bigger waterreservoir reduces maintenance by a lot. It not only reduces the times you need to add nutrients, but the ph drifts a lot slower, especially if you use tap water. The challange of the plumbing is just far greater with an extra reservoir.

Cool setup! Have you thought of reducing the spray volume and do you have any results you can share? Also how do you drain/ replace the water? Do you have to take everything out?

So the sides and top needs to block out light otherwise you may find algae growing a bunch. Other than that, I like the set up

Should use a black tote type, not clear. Use black spray paint then white after to block light and not heat up the water if using cleaner container. I would drill a hole for refills instead of having to take the top off but that's just my suggestion. You can go one step further and put a start/stop pump for a 5 gallon bucket full of pre-made water/nutrient so you won't have to think about it other when you see your reservoir is low. Just my thoughts and have fun growing

At zero flow your bilge pump will produce 1.7psi, nowhere near enough pressure to create any kind of mist :) The 1100gph pump is better (6.4psi at zero flow) but its more washing machine on rinse cycle than aeroponic :) Aeroponics is not about how much water you can throw around, its about how little. If you use any rockwool or jiffy plug etc, it`ll become saturated in seconds, suffocate the roots or prevent any from forming.

It is always a good idea to paint over the bucket with dark paint, the more light that enters the bucket the more likely you will get algae and other pests. Other than that nice build.

With that spray volume and droplet size, you're not actually getting the benefits of aeroponics so much as creating a high-energy kratky system. Plants will grow in it, but you won't get the fine root system and higher nutrient uptake that an aeroponic system is aiming for. You've got too many spray heads to begin with and they're too close to the roots, so you're effectively just hosing them down when ideally you want smaller droplets diffusing through the air and collecting in a fine mist on them. The weaker pump with less nozzles (and not aimed directly at the roots) will likely get you a better result. You could also use an ultrasonic mister in a separate container that has a filtered fan to flow the mist into the grow chamber (and which will also condense the droplets on the way through so that they size up from the 1 micron size that an ultrasonic mister will produce). But yeah, as that system is designed, you could just build a kratky system and save yourself the power cost of the pump. In a one chamber system the plants are going to eventually grow their roots down into the reservoir anyway and then the pump becomes pointless.

Hello I have a question, when we talk about traditional soil culivation, we need nitrifying (or more) soil bacteria and fungus that live in symbiosis with the plants to be grown, is this the same for hydroponic and aeroponic method ? can we totally make the vegetable growing without these bacteria and fungus that transform nutrients ?

Replace the plexiglass with LEXAN polycarbonate and you will illuminate the breaking issues while drilling. It runs a bit more in cost but it is shatter resistant and lasts far longer than plexiglass.

After you get the pilot hole started reverse the drill and let the weight of the drill cut the holes. Don't push down! Yes it's slow. But it greatly lessens the chance it will shatter or Crack the plastic.

I don't mean to be rude. I just want to try and educate you and the people that watch this video. First off this is not a aero setup. It's actually a hydro setup. The reason for this is, because your nute solution and pump are in the grow chamber. So once your roots start growing, they will be hanging down into your nute solution. Instead of just hanging in the air. Hence aeroponics. When growing with aero you want your system to have a grow chamber and a reservoir. The reservoir will have your nute solution and pump in it. Then you get a timer to where you can set seconds and minutes. And plug your pump into that. Because your ON spray time only takes seconds. And your OFF time takes minutes. For example you would only spray your roots for 5 seconds every 10 minutes. And then your nute solution drains back into the reservoir. So the roots are just hanging in the air. That pvc thing with your sprayers on it is called a manifold. Like I said I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just trying to give you some friendly advice. Now with your manifold. You have way to many sprayers. You just want to mist the roots a little, not soak them. I don't know if you have ever seen roots grown with aero. But there will be like main roots. And then off of them there will be like little hair roots. Well if you soak your roots you won't get any of the hair roots. Which help tremendously with the uptake of your nutes. Without these hair roots your limiting the success of your grow. Another thing about your manifold is it is sitting way to high up in your grow chamber. And you will have tons of leaks. My manifolds sit about 2 inchs off the bottom of the grow chamber. Someone already said something about your grow chamber and reservoir being light proof. But also there is one very important thing, that most people that try and grow with aero don't know is that you must keep your grow chamber and reservoir and nutes at around 75 degrees. This is very important from keeping mildew and mold from attacking your roots. Hence ROOT ROT. I've been growing with what is called LPA ( Low pressure Aeroponics ) for about 15 years now. Which means I'm not using a high pressure pump to achieve the droplet size required to grow with HPA ( High Pressure Aeroponics ). When I wanted to start growing with aero. I built a HPA system. It cost me over 500 bucks. And it was a pain in the rump. And then about a year after I was growing with HPA. I stumbled across this guys grow diary and he was growing with LPA. I'd never heard of it before. This guys diary was great. It was like a hundred pages long and he showed everything he did, even with hundreds of pictures. Anyway I built a LPA system. And did a side by side against my HPA system. And there was NO difference in the results. And the rest is history. LoL 😂😆. I built 4 LPA systems, which consist of 2, 23 site grow chambers with 1 reservoir. Each system is only 3'x3'. Thats 46 plants in a 9 s/ft area. I grow in what is called the SOG ( Sea Of Green). My plants are like 2 inchs apart. I've been growing this way for about 15 years now and it is the cheapest easiest and fastest way to grow. Anyway I hope this helps a little. Oh one more thing. The tubs you want to use are the black ones with the yellow lids from home Depot. Those are the only ones that will not leak. Good luck and take care. ASS OG. Aero Systems Sea Of Green.

My pump is heating up the water to 80f, so I added a thermoelectric cooling pad to the outside. You only need 5volt because 12v will freeze thd water

Why would you use a clear tub?

Also, cut your holes in your lid on a spare bin so you don’t worry about all the plastic sawdust. And don’t use a clear container! You’ll be overwhelmed by algae.

Next time put the lid on a piece of wood (stops vibration), and once you poke the guide hole thru, reverse the drill and cut the hole with the saw going reverse (slowly).. it won't break the plastic as easily.
