I saw some thinner corrugated aluminum at a local scrap yard. It's pretty decent. They had quite a bit stacked up. It's located in sacramento. It's used, so it has a bunch of holes, but it's got a somewhat similar profile to this (flat edges, not curves - greater strength). I don't think it was 300 lineal feet worth though. maybe, but doubtful. jeez. maybe I should just buy it and replace the redwood fences at the apartments. hmmm...

@JustinCrediblename
@JustinCrediblename 5 жыл бұрын
*comment updated*: HEY GUYS. Would you be interested in 430 stainless B-decking for 2 bucks a square foot, or normal b-decking for 1 dollar per square foot. (430 stainless is the type that cheaper stainless barbeques and most stove hoods are made out of. also some of the cheaper stainless refrigerators) Please let me know your opinions. I'd like to manufacture stainless building products some day, and I want to know how much interest exists. 300 series stainless, unfortunately, would cost at least 7 bucks a square foot... *Original Comment*: the fence posts must be plumb and straight or else it's gonna get awkward, not to mention look kinda bad. If your posts are out of straightness by like 1"+, then you might have to use long screws or pipe clamps to attach the fencing. Summary: *This product is not easy to find affordably!* cost: $.75-130. per square foot for surplus material. SHIPPING NOT INCLUDED! AKA you may not have affordable access to this product, unfortunately. it's called b-decking, roof decking, mezzanine flooring. check ebay, craigslist (searchtempest.com in order to search multiple craigslists around the country), facebook marketplace, or contact a local industrial building supply company to see if they might have a lead on the material. make sure it's galvanized. sometimes it's only painted. sometimes it's galvanized and painted. Galvalume is better than galvanized, but I dunno if that's common for b-decking since it's typically not used on the exterior and may not warrant the more expensive coating for the normal end-users (commercial construction). Right now I'm seeing the stuff for 1.25 psf on ebay in pensylvannia. good luck with your fencing project *update: info about wifi security: This fence BLOCKS wifi signal pretty effectively. note: For greatest security, speed, health, and energy efficiency, I recommend hard-wiring whenever possible.

My name hereis based on my building smart “assist” devices. 3rd generation. Integrate security products also... I have to go get a copy of City Ordinance on fences first. Then county courthouse as there is property easement right of way road in front of house. Part is City street. They require 15feet I believe. I’ll offer to buy rain drain pipe for ditch , they put it in and level it. I’ll take fence closer and pay for “short sidewalk” in front of my property. Lol Hope it works..

Great creativity, a few questions. How many feet of fencing did you install overall? What was the total cost? Not sure if you mention this on your video, thanks again for posting.
@JustinCrediblename
@JustinCrediblename 5 жыл бұрын
with hefty footers, 13 bucks a lineal foot. with normal fence installation (no footer), it's 8 bucks a lineal foot. it's kind of hard to tell the total cost since part of the fence concrete was a 50' long, 8" thick concrete extension from the house as well as 1 yard for the bollard and 1.5 yards for a light post foundation. But 6 bags of concrete is like 18 bucks. the posts were 10 bucks each, and 6'x.75x8' is like 36 bucks per expanse in between fence posts. probably like $.14 per rivet or about a buck a post. so posts = 28 bucks, panels = 36 bucks. Since there's hefty concrete & dual #5 rebar along the entire fence, that's probably another 40 bucks...an optional feature, but it'll keep animals in or out.

 @Justin Crediblename What size aluminum post would you recommend for an 8ft fence with aluminum B decking? What gauge would recommend for the aluminum b decking with no traffic risk besides a riding lawnmower? Would Really Appreciate it
@JustinCrediblename
@JustinCrediblename 3 жыл бұрын
It the lawnmower kicks up rocks and you want no dents then the gauge will not exist. It depends on your wind conditions and pole spacing. No rocks or hail + 90 mph winds? It depends on your alloy. if using 5005 h14 ?I dunno but I'd guess that 25 gauge would work. With less pure alloys, however, you run into the issue of pitting corrosion concerns if it's not properly anodized. With regards to the poles for an 8' fence, that also depends on your alloy. Presuming 6061 t-6 aluminum at 8' spacing and 8' height, I'd feel pretty safe with a 3" tube of 3/16" thickness, partially filled with concrete. But aluminum tubes are ridiculously expensive, so unless you stumble across a good scrap yard or a good ebay auction, then the cost is going to be insane. Would I buy the tubes? Yes, but only from my local scrap yard or an ebay auction. For example, 6" nominal schedule 40 aluminum tubes at 40' lengths were $250 each on ebay. I would have sprung for that and chopped them up for a fence. 80 bucks a post, but damn good posts which won't need interior concrete reinforcement. You're talking about a hell of a lot of money, though, so hiring a real engineer would be the way to go. With me, I'm mostly working off of intuition. It hasn't failed me yet, but that's because I overbuild most of the time.

sure! That's exactly the situation at this site. edit: I should mention that each locality has its own rules, but typically a 6 ft fence is allowed without permit most of the time. We're such slaves that we have to ask permission to build things on our own property. hahaha- good little peons.

How long the stainless fence last? In my region it rains a lot.
@JustinCrediblename
@JustinCrediblename 3 жыл бұрын
this isn't stainless. it's painted and galvanized. Salty ocean air is going to be the biggest detriment. Salty but dusty soil will also be problematic. But if you're still talking about stainless, then the alloy makes a huge difference as well. If you're talking about cheap 430 SS, then it's a bit experiment. What's fortunate is that there exists a lot of corrosion experiments in your environment with this alloy: modern "chrome" car trim. (not the chrome-plated steel of old)

ah bummer I missed your comment. Unfortunately, it seems really tough to actually find b-decking for sale at good prices and small, residential quantities. I bought a rollformer for roofing, but have yet to successfully set it up. I would like to, however, go into rollforming as a trade. If I do, then I'll eventually be offering 430 stainless b-decking for a decent price, I believe. I am very passionate about changing how we construct buildings because it's been such a travesty losing my health and lifespan in having to repair things which were built with junk materials to begin with. The poles were found on craigslist. He said that they were typically used for tetherball poles. I recommend craigslist, facebook marketplace, or possibly even better: ebay. Sometimes there are freight cars of HEAVY DUTY aluminum tube/pipe for a fantastic price. They'll last basically forever, unlike my zinc-coated pre-rust posts. Sorry that sourcing materials is so hard

yeah. cuz soil bearing pressure is, worst case scenario, 150 psf. You've gotta have the surface area to sustain 85 mph winds in maximally saturated soil, or else you're taking risks. wind design load in this area was 85 mph at the time of fence building. today it's 90 mph. To be frank, if it weren't for the thick concrete "mow strip" with rebar in it, these posts would be cutting corners

@@smartassist9700 aw shucks I'm so sorry it took me this long to get back to you. There are TONS of variables here. Are you doing your own work? Can you actually find the B-decking for a decent price? Are you going to put in mow strips? Are your mow strips going to be strong enough to support the foundation of a house, or weaker? What kind of winter-summer soil shifting occurs in your area? What's the weakest soil bearing pressure that exists during wintertime in your plot? Do you have granite boulders or anything like that in your soil? Can a concrete truck reach all aspects of your plot? Are you going to hire out any parts of the process? (I'd recommend hiring out the fence post hole augering to someone with a bobcat and a 12"+ auger, if possible. Do you have tree roots that are in this soil that you'll have to cut for the sake of the mow strip? Tons of variables :)
