Hello Ellen, thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I have tried a very small quantity (200g 😉) and I had a funny surprise: a few minutes after pouring the soaps in the moulds, they started to react like small volcanoes 😳🤣. Good quesitons. No you don't need to add the essential oil to the volume of oils. Most calculators will have a scent % area. For this recipe, because it's fast moving, I recommend the full water amount at 38%.

Thank you for taking the time, I appreciate your help. I am trying to put your recipe into the calculator and the numbers don't match. I will keep trying. Thank you for sharing your recipe too.

So Is it safe to say that regular soap is skin safe after a week also?
@EllenRuthSoap Жыл бұрын
The pH of soap is “skin safe” after 3-4 days, the cure time is waiting for the extra water to evaporate and make a harder, longer lasting bar.

Do you need to let these bars cure for 4 to 6 weeks like other cold process soaps?
@EllenRuthSoap Жыл бұрын
Yes, the need a full cure time.

I made some of the solid dish soap and the color is weird. I didn't use any fragrance or essential oils. Most of the bar is a light tan color and then at the top of the bar (what was exposed to the air) is a layer of white. I just pulled them out of the molds and haven't tested the pH yet because I was curious as to why it looks the way it does. Do you know?

Sounds like soda ash, which won't effect the pH and it rinses off after a couple of uses.

I am making this recipe. added the stearic acid flakes but doesn’t dissolve. What should I do😤😤?
@EllenRuthSoap Жыл бұрын
They have a very high melting point, you need to heat them quite a bit.

I made this tonight but forgot the sodium lactate and sugar, will it still be hard and at least a little bubbly? I can grate it down and rebatch it and add the sodium lactate if I need to.
@EllenRuthSoap Жыл бұрын
It should still be a good bubbly cleansing soap👍

Could you make dish soap bars with rapeseed oil?
@EllenRuthSoap3 жыл бұрын
You could replace the olive oil with it, but run it thru soap calc to make sure the lye is correct.
