Here is a cheap and easy way to keep aquarium plants in a tank with no substrate. Nothing extravagant but it works!

Why was I watching this and singing inspector gadget in my head 😂😂😂 nice tip on the soldering gun I suppose it stood the bottle from having sharp edges too .... Excellent idea I'm gonna do a few of these for my summer outdoors project 👏👏🤗 and I swear that intro just got longer 😂😂

+PsychedelicBabe lol It did! haha inspector gadget. the sharp edges tend to be on the inside if any. Glad you could use the idea!

Thanks bro! You think that's faster than average. I know I'm surprised as hell! Lol the driftwood definitely makes a freshwater tank. Thanks for watching bro!

Does the plastic leech into the water ? Affect the health of the plants or fish?

Can u use aquarium sand instead of gravel?

It probably is a cheapo hydrometer. I got it with a tank we bought on Craig's list. I have been adding leftover water plus unhatched eggs and whatever brine shrimp were left in the hatch water to a 10 gallon tub with a small sponge filter. I have done some pwc but most of them died. I just did a large water change with green water I had outside that I added the appropriate amount of salt, Epsom salt and some baking soda to so keeping fingers crossed that this will help. I also added a heater

Just ran across this video while searching types of substrate, pots and easy to grow aquarium plants for both my 30 gallon aquatic turtle (juveniles)/tropical fish community tank and an outdoor rubbermaid 100 gallon stock tank which I'm using as a temporary pond. I'm in the process of making a 500 gallon pond in my back yard for my spiny soft shell turtle who's outgrown the aquarium....GREAT TIP ON A CHEAP POTS FOR AQUARIUM PLANTS BRO! Other then just standard aquarium gravel is there a better substrate I could add to this type of plastic pot?

+FJ L Thanks! Im glad you found me! Im originally a koi keeper. I still have two above ground ponds that I've built. 500 gal and 800 gal. and am digging a 2000 gallon this year. love ponds man. have some koi that are 25" plus! My only concern with the substrate is it falling out of the holes. one thing I have done in some of my plant pots is lined them with a mesh. the finer the material the finer the subsrate can be. what do you prefer to use? Thanks for watching my vids!

Hi Mike. I really enjoy your vids. I saw you have a brine shrimp grow out tank and was wondering if you would do a how to video for them. I'm trying but not succeeding at all. Thanks for your angelfish vids too. We are breeding them and all educational info is valuable.

Hey! Very cool. I struggled at first to. I will make a vid on it but just to hurry and help.... What is your set up and are you measuring salinity with a cheapo hydrometer?
@MikesFishRoom18 жыл бұрын
And thank you for watching them. Love being able to talk to people doing the same thing.

What sort of substrate would I put in the pots for the plants to grow in?
@MikesFishRoom18 жыл бұрын
Definitely a gravel. Depending on the size whiles you make will depend on the size gravel recommended.
@Stephen_Strange Жыл бұрын
Yeah - wash the gravel first, ideally stones or pebbles from a place where the fish is used to - sea fish ( beach pebbles) river fish (riverbed stones) etc.

whats the biggie looking thing you have the plants in on some of your other vids

+Desmond Harper they are simple sports drink bottles lined with a fabric. I made a vid on cutting the bottles and making pots but didn't include the fabric due to having issues with it. When fish flash(rub) and contact this stuff it rips the scales right off. Something a little softer would do better. Thanks for watching!

hey man i just got a 29 gallon any reccomendations for a center piece fish? i plan on have a school of tetras some guppies and a school of corey cats
@MikesFishRoom18 жыл бұрын
As long as their aggression is mild it's really up to you. I have a 29 community in the front of my house and I have neon tetras, cherry barbs, a blue dwarf gourami, African lead fish and rainbow shark. I think it's the shark hitting the gourami but that's the only issue I have. One thing i myself want to look into are the beautiful varieties of plecos. I think having a couple of different schools with some kind of polka dotted pleco gliding around the bottom would look pretty sweet.
@MikesFishRoom18 жыл бұрын
All comes down to being a community fish and you liking it for sure.

+Mike's Fish Room thanks if i had the funds and could find one id love to have a zebra pleco as a center piece but ive been leaning toward a dwarf gourami
@MikesFishRoom18 жыл бұрын
+Toguro I have some experience with the dwarfs. They can get mildly aggressive with one another. They seem to lay off of tetras a little more. They won't even mess with bigger fish. Zebra plecos are beautiful. I agree with you there

would you be able to make a video about how to know the gender of angels and how to breed them?
@MikesFishRoom18 жыл бұрын
+MUSIC NOTE I do plan on doing a more detailed video on that. I have a couple of vids under angel fish that should at least show good shots of the male and female organs. Thanks dude. I'll make that vid soon.
