This warmed my heart right up to the top. What a great video Michael with such a simple yet powerful message. The perfect thing to watch on a Christmas morning after opening some presents with the fam. Beautiful work on the hobbit hole, just love that so much. Makes me want to do my own, single hole, to keep on the shelf upstairs where I can see it daily. So proud of those little homes. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family my friend.

If you know anyone working away from home over christmas, this cozy and hearthy message alongside some excellent crafting to unwind to will surely make their night that much less lonely. I am a live in carer and away from home, and Michael's spirit has laid some really beautiful ideas into my mind for when I return home. I came here for the hobbit hole, and left with a much needed end of year affirmation. So often I see crafters on KZfaq and desperately try to match what I see, but have to fight disappointment when I finish. @@Nat1videos I’ve begun trying to view it that way, as inspiration. Like learning from the Masters, it’s art after all, not facsimile. If I try to copy a Rembrandt, but end up with a Picasso, it’s still the result of my artistic expression! Much like another of my favorite Tubers (and yours as well) Boylei, I’m learning to “call it good”.

Glad you got some free beer, I don't think you'll be able to legally promote beer or take any kind of sponsorship deal due to their being advertising laws against the promotion of tobacco & alcohol in the UK. Quite the gray area in that regard. Fortunately your wonderously sunny & colourful build. Is a joy. Just the kind of wholesome xmassy build to brighten up our days

@@Nat1videos I have no idea what is/isn't legal. Best to stick to youtube's policy at the least on it (which is all over the place). I think there are weird work-arounds though (like you can advertise alcohol distributors but not alcohol itself). Trouble is that global companies like google/youtube will hit out global policies (eg, alcohol is illegal in some states/countries) so they will enact policy that is more nebulous & vague so it isn't always clear. Worst case scenario, I think you could lose youtube monetisation for any related vids

@@earthmanbrick We looked in to it and it looks like we are good. Not aimed at minors, video is set to not for minors. Also the policy basically says to not promote irresponsible promotion, like heavy drinking or saying that this Beer will change your life etc... Lucy had a look at the policy and recons I'm not breaking any of them. Who knows, maybe I'll get an e-mail. Video might get blocked in some countries though where Alchohol is very strict.

love the video! the hobbit philosophy is such a good vibe! what materials (like the base board, the different types of foam, the incense burner etc) did you use and where did get theme because I would love to try and recreate something like this! loved the video!

Nicely done. How did you protect the inside from the heat of the incense?

Thanks, the little metal disk protects from the foam... the incense doesn't really generate loads of heat as the ash forms around the ember. But having said that I may go back in and protect the area with some plaster. That would probably be a good idea, I was just trying to finish the build to get this video out on time lol

Great build & relaxing video BUT “It is no bad thing to celebrate a simple life.” is NOT a Tolkien quote, it is a movie quote, Tolkien never wrote that. Another reason why I dislike the films, they spread false information like this, the internet is filled with quotes like this attributed to Tolkien that he never actually said. they are a great engine of falsehood. I know people will pooh-pooh this comment, but truth matters.

@@Nat1videos The quote is from the movies, it was written by the writers of the films, not by Tolkien. But because the internet is a seas of disinformation, it has spread across many quote sites attributed to J.R.R. Tolkien. But it isn't a quote from him. Again, I'd happily be proven wrong, just provide yoiur source for the quote, book and page #, a letter he wrote, ect.

None of this changes the beauty of the build, the sweet calm of the video, nor the value of the emotions and thoughts the quote inspires in you. But truth really does matter, even on something that seems small and petty like this.

@@GMWestermeyer I have spent some time trying to find the original source.... I have found lots and lots of sources sighting Tolkien as the author of the quote and not just the film, but not from which document it came from... sooooo I may have to concede. Still, a nice message !
