Yo boss ditch the eggs in a box and just clean a Gatorade bottle out real good and fill it with the eggs you like can even throw cheese and butter in and have a super quick and easy scrable any time any place. Love this raft, keep on keepin on brother

Steve, the first time I saw one of your videos I laughed because it just seemed silly to sleep out in the green patch in your town. As I watch your show more often, I think you are a genuinely awesome guy. You're adventurous and handle issues that come up with a calm demeanor and a cool head. Frankly, it's inspiring to others.

Hey Steve...Love the humbleness and humility in your videos! Only on my 4th one, but loving the homemade river rafting and stealth camping I have seen so Far! Now 61 yrs old, I was a scout leader in Pennsylvania for 18 yrs and had my fair share of great experiences and learning experiences in the outdoors. To comment on river rocks and fire rings... YES, they do make noise, crack and twice (only under larger, hotter fires) had some of the rocks explode. Very scary learning experience! Please continue these enjoyable videos and ignore the naysayers. ps survived broken neck, throat and neck cancer and still camping 4 Seasons...just not with 15 teenagers anymore! - Joe D.

I've seen exploding river rocks. In the early '80s I was living in Inuvik NWT. Two friends and I flew in to a place called twin lakes for a 4 day fishing trip. The first night there we had a fire on the beach and as the fire grew hot, rocks began to explode and pieces flew past our heads. The rocks that exploded were smaller sedimentary ones that were actually under the fire, not the larger ones used to form the ring. This type of rock is somewhat porous and because of the nature of their formation, when the trapped water boils they easily fracture along their layers, sending pieces flying. It didn't happen after that because we used the same fire pit and all the "exploding" rocks had already exploded. A good practice wouldn't be to clear your fire pit of all rocks down to sand or gravel if you are building a fire on what could possibly be sedimentary rocks. Cheers.

Steve, I wouldn't believe it myself, but river rocks do explode if you use them around a fire. A friend and I were camping near the Salmon river in Idaho using a pre-existing metal fire ring with grate and things started exploding in the fire. We couldn't figure out what it was until we started getting hit with hot rocks. Someone had put them in the bottom of the fire pit and that's what was exploding. I suspect it was a certain type of rock but it was pretty shocking and quite scary.

I stumbled upon your videos and I'm not sure how, but they're fantastic and show a perfect example of how you can still be environmentally conscious, enthused about nature and natural living, and also not be needlessly afraid of technology all at the same time. I love this channel, thanks!

You have a great life. I was dieing uptil I got my new kidney transplant. And having seen life from that possible side of death, the little things, like camping on a raft is so priceless and. Presciously

To drink alcohol on a vessel you need to have eyepatch, hook for a hand and club foot. Parrot is optional. Only other option is knowing most of sea shanties and will to plunder and sink any other vessel that comes by.

I have a scar on my neck from when I was about 12 years old, a river rock exploding out of a fire I had made down by the river, it is true for sure!! no liquor=no camping

Instead of pulling the tarp off, should roll it up and secure it to the aft crossover support. Then you can see more while moving, and then just untie and unroll it. Just a thought.

Why do I find your videos so interesting? Two reasons. 1. Your camping adventures are out of the ordinary. You just don't go to a park and set up a tent. 2. I can camp vicariously through your videos. I am glad I subscribed!

When you're trying to go against the current always stick to the shore line as there is way way less current there. When anchoring for the night throw your anchor drift down until you're taught then motor to the shore line and tie off up stream, as the tide rises or drops you will stay in the same spot and not get beached.

22:43 Yes, I can confirm that rocks taken from wet areas will explode when heated in fire, and quite violently in fact. A friend and I learned this the hard way about 15 years ago when we were camping near a stream and thought it would be a cool idea to cook meat on a flat piece of sedimentary rock. After several minutes on the fire the rock suddenly, quite literally exploded, throwing sharp shards of stone in multiple directions as we hovered over the fire. It was LOUD, and we were both seriously lucky we weren't struck by any of the shards.

Love the videos, Steve! I can confirm that river rocks can explode if used in a campfire. I've had it happen once, never even risked it again after that. It's really not fun having hot and sharp bits of rock exploding at the campsite.

In the 90's, I camped many weekends on my 19.5 ft bass boat and it was really a good experience. I liked the way you built the frame for your tarp on your raft! I could have used that idea on my boat camping experiences! Thanks for the video!

Awesome videos, an idea for the getting beached problem. You could use both of the poles and the ropes, as a anchor system to keep you from drifting while also keep you from getting beached. If you angle the pole at each end of the raft, to the frame and into the rocks. While using the ropes how you already are and putting tension back towards the bank. Theoretically it should keep you in one spot. Not an engineer, just a problem solver!

I have gotten so hooked on your videos. Calming and relaxing as I hunker down with my lazy dog and get in sleep mode. It’s the simple things that are just so interesting. Watching you cook makes me really hungry at midnite. Hankerin’ fer a heapin’ helpin’ o’ hash browns. For some reason, I have a sudden urge to go buy a cheap tent and go camp in my side yard. Or maybe get a pool and build a camping raft. I could just sit out there at night in my pool pontoon and pretend I’m somewhere adventurous
