Educate the younger generation of young pet hobbyists and help inspire a future role as a researcher or conservationist.
Entertain! I.e. provide interesting content for those who just want to learn more about the creatures we share the Earth with!

This just shows again that you don't have to go out and buy an expensive terrarium, just easily make one out of old furniture :D

I’m glad you covered the mirrors. Chameleons get stressed when seeing their reflection in normal glass so I can’t imagine how bad it would be with actual mirrors.

Thank you for posting this. My neighbor is giving me a similar china cabinet in exchange for getting her taxes done. This one has a light socket attached inside the roof so obviously I can't just replace it with a heat bulb. You've given me an idea what to do.

Nice! I'm turning the same type of cabinet into a crested gecko vivarium. I decided to try the spray foam method to make a rocky background. It's a messy pain in the ass task!
@AnimalsatHomePodcast
@AnimalsatHomePodcast 5 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Haha yes, spray foam is a pain in the ass and it is sort of labor intensive once you get to the shaving part... however, it will give you a much better result! If I were to do this again I would probably spray foam as well. Good luck with your project!

How long did you wait until you put your reptile in it
@AnimalsatHomePodcast
@AnimalsatHomePodcast 6 жыл бұрын
I waited for about 1 month, but this was only because I had to wait for the local reptile expo and I also wanted to give the plants some time to establish before adding an animal. The water-based sealant I used was fully cured after 2-3 days so if I had an animal ready to add immediately after I finished building it I probably would have only waited 4-5 days to add the animal.

Did the polycrylic hold up alright? I just got a China cabinet I'm gonna convert and I've heard that you have to sand before applying polycrylic or it won't stay.
@AnimalsatHomePodcast
@AnimalsatHomePodcast 4 жыл бұрын
From my experience the polycrylic Held up fine without sanding. However, did he say if you could take a fine grit sandpaper and just do one pass over the wood.
