We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dream. So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons.
The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). On the season 4 we sailed for 2 years (exploring the Brazilian coast and part of the Caribbean), we sold our boat and we moved to Europe. The last season we are starting to build a new aluminum 43ft sailboat and a new life.
We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams.
SUBSCRIBE to our channel and join us every SUNDAY for a new episode of our journey!!

Hello Friends. Just one thing. May or may not be critical depending on how much power you're going to put through the system. Inverters and charge controller need to be mounted upright. They are designed to disperse heat from the heat sinks better in the upright position and should never be mounted sideways. Just ask Xantrex if they will still warranty the unit mounted like that. If you're ever in doubt about mounting gear, always best to ask the people that manufacture it. Enjoying the build.

I retired from the oilfield as a truck driver. We had to leave our trucks out on location at night. We installed Webasco heaters on our engines. When it was -25° f, it was 20 minutes of running time and engines were at 140°f, on about a cup of diesel fuel( that's about 250ml).

Maybe you should consider creating an overview video of the whole boat renovation from the beginning to the end. Watch how Drew Builds Stuff does that on his channel. He provides background comments on how he does stuff and gets millions of views on these videos. Not everybody enjoys watching hundreds of half hour videos one by one, but an hour and a half video of the whole project with explanation is really popular!

Shrink tubing can be internally stretched to fit. There are limits to the stretch. I use a pliers on the inside for dimension change. Excellent segment as always.
@OddLifeCrafting

I think from 16 to 50 is too much to stretch 😁

They have a liquid electrical tape that works very well when you don't have heat shrink. It is a solid seal from moisture and other contaminates as I have used it for many years................ enjoy

Great video thank you. In case you don't already know you should check out the Festool Domino Joiner system. I find it indispensable for almost every kind of joinery with solid wood and plywood. It's quick and easy like the Kreg system but far superior in strength durability and accuracy. It's a fantastic tool that has revolutionized cabinet and Furniture building.
@OddLifeCrafting
@OddLifeCrafting 4 күн бұрын
Duca was checking it yesterday. It’s so expensive!!! But for sure it’s one of the best options ☺️
@richardnwilson
@richardnwilson 4 күн бұрын
@@OddLifeCrafting yes they are expensive but they are unbelievably versatile. Once you get one you'll never go back to the Kreg jigs. I typically use Domino's and screws together for building plywood cabinet boxes. For solid wood joinery I usually use clamps. It's a precision machine that makes really accurate joints. I think even Duka would be impressed! There really is nothing else like it. I would never be without one for woodworking.

I know building your boat is expensive, time consuming & Nerve racking. I’m staying with you. But good lord knows I want to see you back on the water. Maybe more than you. lol Just be you & do your thing , your way. Destination is a 6 foot hole in the ground. Your in da middle of your journey no matter wear it leads you. ENJOY 🤠
