You can completely transform the look of a bedroom by making a DIY canopy bed. You can do it! This big-imact project doesn't require a lot of sewing, but you will need to break out the power tools to construct a simple cornice board. In this video, you'll learn how to use plain curtain panels that were customized with RIT dye to cover a DIY cornice board. Use a staple gun to securely fasten the fabric to the cornice board, and reserve the hemmed part of the curtain to create a simple valance. By mounting curtain rods to the back of the cornice board as well as the wall behind the bed, you can hang matching curtain panels to create folds of fabric that completely envelop the bed. The result is a cozy space that softens noise, and becomes a dramatic focal point in any bedroom.
