For starters, I used a similar machine to change 6 quarts of Transmission Fluid and it worked like a charm, I would recommend using it for this purpose. I add,,, this Channel-Guy's engine Oil looks Very Dirty and any Oil change would have been better than it was. I agree with many others commenters in that, if you are able to get to the Oil Plug drain plug of the engine, fairly easily, then use the drain plug and drain your Oil instead and also change your Oil Filter. (On a time recommended Oil change, you should also always change the Oil filter). However, on some cars though, and for Car Buffs, and I'm sure there are people out there that wish to keep their motor oil crystal clean, may wish to change their oil more frequently than the time recommended. So, if you change your Oil every few thousand miles on a perfectly tuned engine, and choose not to change the Oil Filter for another few thousand miles, this Oil Pump may be just the Tool for you! Again, I've used it on Trans Oil and it worked Great and was also Kinda Fun!

Great tool for reducing the mess associated with a oil change. However you need to open the oil pan drain plug to further remove excess oil that may still be present. In addition you should always change out the oil filter as a rule of thumb. This product is also great to change out gear oil in 4X4 vehicles in both the differential and transfer case to reduce the mess.
@kennethstanton5407
@kennethstanton5407 4 жыл бұрын
It's not necessary to touch the drain plug if you are careful about getting the tube into the bottom of the pan. If you know the capacity and measure the output, you can determine if you got all of it out. Typically, you will leave only a few milliliters in there with this method. Certainly not enough to worry about.

Just unscrew the bottom hose, turn on the car heater and undo the top hose. Run your garden hose in the top and flush the radiator out. I usually do it with the coolant warmish, be careful not to open the cap without the engine running as itl explode steam out sometimes. Theres loads of ways to do a coolant flush backyard style without a fancy pump

No! These pumps burn out the bearings if used with anything but oil! The oil being pumped is the lubricant for the pump. They don't work with g/b oil either - too thick. Burns out the motor.

Hi there, im not sure if you still go around your own videos and answer to our questions but I have the same model and i follow you video. Thanks a lot! :) but i got a small issue in which im stucked with doubts and afraid i may have done something wrong. i tried this on my C4 1.6hdi from 2004 and supposedly the engine has 4 liters but it only came out 2.3 +/- . I tried to force down the much i could this rubber and stick and it really got nothing more from the engine. I have even compared the length between the rubber inserted and the oil stick from engine and it was the same size. Also, I had to refill the engine and the maths were consistent. i put back 2.3/2/4 liters. My question are: 1. is this normal? 2. what i have done wrong to only get 2.3 liters instead of 3.8 or 4? 3. should I have to install a special ending in the rubber? now the NOOB question: should i drive normally the car as it is, and only change again in the next 10.000kms the oil or should i try to redo all again (to remove all oil - the expected 4 liters)? Thank you and sorry for my dumb questions :(

I know this is old but that's an important question. Did you check your dipstick before hand to see if it even had the proper amount of oil in the first place? The car could have burnt through some oil or have somewhat of an oil leak given that it's an older car. Other possibility is that the tube wasn't capable of getting all the oil out, in which a normal oil change through the drain plug would be a better idea.
3 жыл бұрын
I have also tried it with the 12v pump and got even worst result, I was only able to get 1/4 of the oil out. The $100 Fluid Extractor works better and will get most of the oil out.

Always check the oil level before hand. If you try every way to position the tube and nothing else comes out then add that same amount you pulled, check the oil level and see. If you need to add more than you removed you know you burned or leaked oil.

@@virgil5361 Not so. Very dangerous! The instructions specifically state that petrol/gasoline and other fuels must NOT be run thru' these pumps. They also say that the pump is not suitable for heavier oil such as g/box oil. The bearings in the pump are lubricated by the extracted oil. The obvious way to leave the pump clean and ready to go next time is to run clean oil thru it till the outlet pipe runs clear.

Not so. The design of the sump plug on the very common Peugeot 1.6 HDi engine is concave, not convex. This leaves 200 ml in the sump every time. See More Molecues test of this on a new sump before fitting it to the car.

I think this is a great little pump and if used appropriately can assist in some service jobs. However showing it in this way is like showing someone who boasts he can tile a bathroom in a morning. Yes you could, if you left the other tiles on and tiled over them, but to do it properly you’d want to take the old tiles off 1st. Ergo if you still have to jack up the car to remove the filter and change it then why not remove the drain pludg and drain at the same time you replace the filter. I appriciate the video was purely made to show the oil removal, but you wouldnt change the oil without changing the filter surely. Not an accurate description of oil change using this device to my mind. Although as I said i think the pump has it’s merits.

There are vids on YT of guys that have tested what remains in the sump [after using a pump] by removing the sump plug. I have not seen one vid where there is ANY more oil drained from the sump. The trick is to measure off the pipe against the dipstick and make sure at least that length goes into the engine. In addition, the vid by More Molecules on fitting a new sump includes a test of how much liquid - he used water - he could pour into the sump [on the bench] of his Peugeot/Citroen 1.6 HDi before it reached the level of the top of the sump drain and started draining. The answer was 200ml. So draining via the sump plug will always leave the last and worst 200ml of the contents of the sump, in that engine. Of course, with a properly designed sump plug - the plug set in a bowl rather than in a 'hump', this woud not happen. I have seem a vid where a guy creates a bowl in his 1.6 HDi using a dent puller.

That looked like it pulled barely over 3 Quarts of oil in an engine that takes 5 quarts....Although there would be no harm if it left 5-8 oz behind in the pan....we're talking about over a quart of oil remaining behind which is a considerable amount of oil. The hand pump ones are better than this as I've seen them get out roughly 98% of the oil. Plus always remember you also need to change you filter!

Yes, there is still a good amount of sludge still in the bottom fo the oil pan, what some of the old-timers did was to pour some kerosene into the engine and run it for about a minute or two to help loosen up the sludge in the engine and make it easier for the sludge to pour out from the pan when the drain plug is removed.

This is rubbish, there are still oil left to be drained, at least another half a litre to 1 litre, which has contaminants that you will be recycling with the new oil. Viscosity of the new oil will be very much affected with that much used oil in it. The filter change can be a mess as well. This is not the proper way to do maintenance. usage of the pump would be ideal when done at the oil drainage plug along with gravity drainage method.
