Hi Wendell! Great job! I also believe in over engineering things that are going to support heavy items. Gives peace of mind and a good margin for unexpected loads or shocks.

That's always a good thing Martin. The factory brackets we buy over the counter would in no way support all my weight on one edge near the end. The last one I used, I actually felt bad about using it instead of making my own.

Oh heck yeah, I use and abuse him equally along with my son in law !! LOL He's kept pretty busy with the two little boys in addition to his work schedule so its good he's young and full of energy !! That WAS a bit of heavy iron to use, but it was free and does the job well. A quick coat of paint makes anything look better too. LOL Glad you enjoyed it Nelson. The installation is completed now and the house is staying cool. That's the main thing !!

Excellent !! I think you'll do fine. I'd suggest checking the manual on the minimum clearance to the wall for proper air flow across the outdoor coil. Good luck...by the way there is a complete playlist on this install. Here it is in case you haven't seen it: kzfaq.info/sun/PLk72G9DTzZ1taVZjyeN9DKr52HQ3hhcXd

My friend that was like being right there with you or doing it my self. Perfectly planned and executed with good tips. I get such a kick out of the similarities between us. I have many salvaged tools I got the same way. Matobos to sawsaws. I’m just glad I didn’t have to compete with you at the dumpster lol. Happy 4th sir

There's only two things I miss about workiing. #1 is the company truck. My last one was a one ton Chevy dually service body with the big 496 and Allison automatic. #2 is all the bounty from the jobsite hoppers. LOL Man, I have scrounged literally tons of stuff that was heading to the junkyards over the years. I'm sure you feel the same way John. LOL

Hahahaha....if the duct tape would've been closer that would have been what I used. LOL I've brought home power tools with little more than a nick or cut in the wire Dave !! The job foremen can't take a chance keeping them on site because OSHA fine potential. That's where most of my ladders came from too. A crack in the firbeglass leg or a broken rung and its 'toast' !! Once I make the repairs they still cannon be used due to the integrity of the original frame or structure has been jeopardized.

I just did something like this but I attached them to hollow block with irregular faces. Had a real tough time locating the brackets to locations that would hold so I mounted 2 horizontal beams of unistrut then attached the brackets to the unistrut. Not only did the unistrut permit me more mounting points since it spanded multiple blocks (30 inches) it also provided a plainer surface that was easy to shim the brackets against. Just another.

Yes, I have used strut commercially hundred of times to mount many things on wall surfaces. That was the perfect solution to the challenge the rough surface made. Thanks Justin for chiming in with your solution.

It won't be the easiest to change a compressor, but at least the grass clippings, weed eater and dog urine damage will be kept to a minimum !! LOL Some manufacturers recommend removing the whole condensor coil in addition to the fan to change the compressor !! Crazy stuff man. Crazy stuff.

For concrete I like to use these in 3/8" or 1/2" diameter and 3 to 3 3/4" long: www.amazon.com/Red-Head-Wedge-Anchor-10CT/dp/B0B693K46H/ref=pd_rhf_d_se_s_pd_sbs_rvi_sccl_2_4/145-6288689-8220349?pd_rd_w=opk3b&content-id=amzn1.sym.a089f039-4dde-401a-9041-8b534ae99e65&pf_rd_p=a089f039-4dde-401a-9041-8b534ae99e65&pf_rd_r=E0AFFWV9QVVY0MXQZSKZ&pd_rd_wg=wXtDO&pd_rd_r=b71d4b28-53e5-42bb-a6e1-687ed68fb339&pd_rd_i=B0B693K46H&psc=1 The depth of the hole is important as well as blowing out all the dust. If you don't clear the dust it can be forced ahead of the anchor and not allow the anchor to be inserted to the correct depth. Brick, block or wood require different types of anchors.

Carefully use appropriate length self tapping screws and screw through the frame into the base of the bottom of the unit. CAREFULLY though, to ensure you don't hit the outdoor coil.

Is that 2” or 3” angle iron and what are the dimensions that you use to fabricate this? I have a family member installing an AC unit on my house and want to have everything ready to go whenever they get the time to stop by.
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 Ай бұрын
Iirc, this one is made of 2”x 1/4” material. Plenty heavy. Even if you’re installing a 5 ton a/c. Make sure it’s long enough to get the minimum distance from the wall for air circulation. Usually 12” for airflow and servicing.
@tractorman4461

Ask your relative to provide you the required size to fit the unit. They are not all the same physical size.
