This coffee bar / mini fridge table is an easy project for beginner woodworkers looking to make some DIY furniture. Everything was constructed with basic materials from the big box stores (2x4's and 2x6's). In the video, I used a planer and jointer, but that was personal preference and is not needed for this project. This is a great piece to put in your home to store a mini fridge and display your coffee maker and cups. The top received a dark walnut stain (I applied pre-stain conditioner beforehand) with a top coat of an oil-based polyurethane. The base was painted with Urethane Alkyd Semi-Gloss Enamel, in white. I was very happy with the way this coffee bar turned out and my clients were super excited as well.

I really like it, but could have used a better look at the finished product. There are some good close up shots, but the video fades out before you can see the whole thing.

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. kzfaq.infoUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

This table arrived well packaged and on time. kzfaq.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

For the X, I found it easier to mark where they sit and everything, but when you cut, only cut the middle half way and the same to the other using that depth stopper on your miter. Creep up on the halfway point. Can’t undo your cuts! Lol Also, you can just glue them if they’re a tight fit. I’ve had one for years and it’s never come undone with just the glue. It’s additional support, but honestly, depending on what you’re making, it might not need it. Your call! Go make some saw dust! Lol! Compost your sawdust btw! You get awesome fine healthy compost!

You should get a jointer plane to joint the edges. A number 8 is able to plane two 30mm boards at one time to ensure that the gluing surface is perfect. Sometimes its not worth fighting with the machinery.

Awesome! I built a concrete countertop a few months back for the barbecue pit (one of my previous videos), but wasn't too happy with the base. I didn't square the edges of the 2x's, and I wish I had. It came out ok but.....this would be the perfect base for that. I can see another project in my future!

Oh this turned out so beautiful! Love your videos. New sub here. Keep up the great work! I need to build one of these. I am thinking about making two of these. On the wine bar, I'll add some wooden t-tracks to hold the wine glasses and on the bottom shelf add curved cut outs or an X for extra wine storage. For the coffee bar, where the wine fridge is, I will put a tilt out bin for a trash can. My husband seems to always spill the coffee grounds on his way to the trash can so having the trash right under the coffee pot, I think would solve that almost daily clean up. I think he's worried his wife loves woodworking and what all I will be building when I can get some room and get my tools set up and build a work bench. He should be fine as I don't complain when he buys more cars or parts, so I think we're even when I buy more tools. Haha.

Actually have a question about your miter saw box. Do you find it collects the majority of your dust since it has an open face? I see almost everyone else put some type of cutout face on there's.
@CasualBuilds
@CasualBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
I've since switched my miter saw after this video. The one in this video was just alright at collecting dust. I used the box so it would contain most of it and not spit out the back (which worked). I did have to vacuum inside every so often. My new miter saw has horrible dust collection and I'm still trying to figure out how to improve it.

Are the pocket holes necessary? Or can you just add screws in from the outside of the frame? Awesome video, thank you

It may be tough for the inner "legs" where you can't access from the sides.

You said you used all 2x4 and 2x6? So did you cut the 2x6 to 3 inch each? What did you do with the 2x4? Is that what you used for the 11/2? If so, why buy this size and not one closer to size like a 2x2?
@CasualBuilds
@CasualBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
I used 2x4s for the entire base construction and 2x6s for the top. There were 2x2 pieces in my design, but I got them from the 2x4s because the 2x2s at the store aren't typically flat or in the best condition.

Really like how you did the decorative x’s on the side. I’ve been sitting on a design that incorporated something like but didn’t know how to do it. Any idea if a half lap joint would work for the intersection?

Is there any reason that you don't use planed timber rather than rough! would save a load of time and effort, is it a cost issue?
@CasualBuilds
@CasualBuilds 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, wanted to keep cost down and I don't have any lumber yards with that kind of wood near me - usually just go to one of the big home improvement stores for wood.
