Agreed. I want to make something that isn't off the shoulder like in the thumbnail, but I'm not a confident enough sewer to tweak a sewing project. still a great video just very different from what was advertised.

ive been sewing for 10 years since i was 15 and i was so scared of drafting patterns, the numbers are a nightmare for me but i recently started making an effort and it really does make things easier! im just starting of the pattern drafting part, could you suggest any help? thank you!

Melissa Well, I learned it the old fashioned way, with a textbook...just stubbornly following the instructions. Nowadays, you have more options, of course. There’s skillshare...and probably other, free, online tutorials as well. Or you could go the easy route and use a service like patterns.bootstrapfashion.com/sewing-patterns.html They will generate both basic slopers and fashion patterns for your individual measurements. So you could just get a set of basic patterns, do a mock-up and then go directly to the fun part, of following one of the tutorials here, for example. I haven’t used their service personally, but they have been around for a while...and it would be a much better starting point, than a regular fashion pattern.

Jay_M I learned from a German textbook, so that’s probably no use to you. Not to mention, that that was about 15 years ago. I have no idea, what’s on the market now, especially in English. I‘m sure, you‘ll be able to google plenty of information, though. Since these books are somewhat expensive, you could also try getting something via intralibrary loan. Or just look, what’s available used on ebay.

It looks like you have to chirr it, you can look it up and there’s good tutorials on it. But honestly if you don’t have that thin of elastic and got normal elastic you can sew down the elastic on the fabric and make sure you stretch it out and then pin it so when you take off the pins the fabric is strechy but it’s not as comfy as the chiring
