DIY Diddley Bow

9 жыл бұрынHow to build a diddley bow / 1 string guitar / cigar box guitar.
It is quite easy to build a diddley bow like mine. All that you need is:
- a sheet of 3mm wood
- 1 30x15x1000m wooden stick
- 1 round piece of brass
- a guitar string
- a guitar/bass tuning peg
- and optional piezo pickups with a switch and a plug
On my version I added an extra half of snare-wires, with this you have a guitar and a snare drum in one :)

Some folks are more into the lower, bass end sounds in a bow. I found that a mid to tenor range string (4th to 6th) with an high e being a good choice, giving a bright sound that helps make melodies easier to do when just starting out. But the nice thing about Diddley Bows is that there are no rules, only suggestions. You can make your own kinda sound, in your own kinda way !

that's an awesome bow! I really love the snare idea, and the piezo switch is friggin' brilliant! I wouldn't have thought of that, but now all my bows are going to have a percussion bit.

niceley put together video, and Diddley Bow! Great idea to put the snare on...I imagined it would go on the inside of the box. Anyway it all works great. Like the distorted it at the and : -)

Good idea that you made your box and showed how it can be done. I just made a canjo, and they sound similar, but perhaps the flat surface of a box is easier to pluck or strum the string. I like the idea of snares and drum effect.

Measure the string from the bridge to the nut half way and that's the 12th fret just fold it in half before u put string on

why not add some dialogue to what you are doing? This is really not teaching me much, especially the electronics part of the build. Great looking build though.

Why not buy a cigarbox why build a fake one .this video is a way to make the people who dont have a garage full of tools or talent change there mind and not do this project waste of time watchen this video
