My favorite thing on Christmas Day is to have my children and grandchildren over to my house!! We eat, open presents and spend time together. Heaven on earth!!!🥰🥰🥰

My favorite thing is the scavenger hunt we do for our kids. They are grown but we still do it for them and now the grandkids too!

My favourite thing on Christmas Day incorporates the two big male influences in my life. Growing up and being at my grandparents house my grandad always passed the gifts out one by one, so I carried on that with my children. When I was 10 my mam met my dad, the big Christmas tradition he brought with him was having a big cooked breakfast after opening presents so again it’s something I kept going with my kids. But here is where my favourite bit is. Just after eating, everyone has full belly’s, and there’s the silence as the kids start looking properly at what they have. Teens work out what clothes they will wear, what new smellies they will use to smell good that day, grandkids start wanting toys opened, Christmas music playing in the background. That moment is sheer perfection.

Oh! On Christmas Day, after gifts and monkey bread 😉 I love to relax and read. That peaceful time is such a blessing. We usually go for a family walk in the afternoon, which is so full of happy memories of walks with those not with us - whether elsewhere or passed.

On Christmas Eve I spend the night with my youngest daughter’s family so I can watch the joy on my grandchildren’s faces as they come down to open their presents on Christmas morning. Then I jump in the car and drive an hour to be there for the same experience at my other daughter’s home. Later we all gather for Christmas dinner. It’s an exhausting day, but I love it! It's really wonderful just spending the whole day together and we watch our favorite movie 'Its A Wonderful Life' (Black and white version...of course!)

My Mom has made stockings a very special part of Christmas morning since we were very young. Even though we are grown adults with our own families, Mom still stuffs our stocking for Christmas morning. There is something so special about sitting down with your stocking and your coffee and laughing when you see all of your fun little surprises in your stocking. Because it means so much to me, I have continued her tradition with my own family. 💜
