I tried yoyoing a VHS tape spool once, using the tape itself as the string...just at the time I didn't know any modern responsive stuff. Obviously wouldn't sleep but I did make it go down and back up so my day was made :)

better than dollar tree real yoyos lol I like this idea, it reminds me with Braille skateboarding channel, they do stuff like this too, making skateboard from walmart stuff and play game of skate with that you should do more of this,, I really like it!

Totally reminds me of the first yo-yo ever. Given out at the worlds fair in NY I believe. Was like two pipe knobs or something with a string in the middle. Obviously no bearing haha so sick Dylan!

This is funny.. And awesome.. You need smaller washers for the inside of the bearing currently when it's tightened down it is camping the outside making it basically a fixed axel which is still cool

Lmao that's awesome I'm surprised it worked so well. Kyo Kyle used to always joke around in theyo chatroom that yoyos were just glorified door knobs. Maybe you could try making a literal doorknob yoyo XD

I think that would work even better if you put spacers on the inside...on both sides of the bearing...that would help keep the bearing centered and stable and spinning even better and faster... Just a thought...

I've seen some people who try and show off way expensive yoyos (hundreds $) that can barely perform a breakaway, and here you are nailing tricks with $2 worth of drain stops from the Dollar Tree. Once again proves skill is more important than gear. Great idea to try and build one, I'd like to see what you can do with all the goofy stuff at PetsMart!!

Like, since you already got the minimum with dollar tree supplies, i think itd be cool if you did a "best you can with whats available" in a bigger store with more options.. id stick to only one store though, walmart, lowes, or a good hardware store. Maybe even an electronics place or something.. or what about a goodwill series?

Maybe you can do like a "VS." series where like you and your bother or someone else try to make a Yo-Yo. Then you can score the yo-yos by doing the trick ladder, Competition might make it more exciting.

If you used some spacers the bearing could spin free. If not, a smaller, very thin washer on top of the other one, would lift the outer races off of the bottom one.

I'm playing with a cheap plastic yoyo while waiting for my new yoyo's to come in tomorrow and Wednesday. The yoyo I have right now is a random one from a Halloween goodie bag so it's probably one that came in like a pack of 6 or something from the dollar store. It's really cheap and the only thing you can do with it is make it go down and occasionally come back up

Do you know actually when I started training in playing yo-yo, this was the only yoyo type I have in Egypt, and in fact, I trained with it for 3 years until I got a new yo-yo from another country, and because I trained with a very hard yoyo the new yoyo was a piece of cake to me 😅😅
