Using the pvc is an awesome idea to check the travel out. Enjoying the build, thanks for sharing!

Thanks. We just didn’t know where everything is going to sit for a final setup and definitely didn’t want to spend a lot of money twice on DOM and aluminum. Worked really well. Thank you for watching!

Outstanding work! This series has been more fun than I expected and I love seeing you all build the whole thing. PVC was great idea and I was surprised it held! Rednecks need 2 things, If it is supposed to move and wont WD40 If it moves and its not supposed too, DUCT TAPE!!!

Thanks man. It’s the PVC with gorilla tape. The regular duct tape would have fallen apart 😂. Thanks for watching us having fun in the garage.

Thanks mate exactly what I envisaged. Just never saw it applied. So what remains is the Bumpstops adjustment and Max travel straps. Also, make sure your drive shaft angle stays as constant as possible, maybe, double joints on both sides of the driveshaft will help with the extreme angles.

Absolutely man. Thanks for watching the vid. And we still have to continue to work on this project it had to take a back seat due to some personal reasons. But we are planning on hoping back on this project soon. And like you said definitely planning on joints on both end of the driveshaft and getting all those other things done.

Good job! I'm sure you have a much better understanding of how critical the triangulation is and how it works. There is a lot to figure out when building one, and then see what interferes once you've got the tubes figured out. I'm also quite sure Willie will be competing with Josh when it comes to quality garage couch time. 😆

Yes, we definitely learn a ton. We did hours of research and spent a lot of time on the 4link calculator and all the numbers turned out well. Then it came to the real fun part turning all those numbers to an actual physical piece that we built out of scrap steel. It has been tons of fun so far. And me and willie have been sharing the couch as much as possible. And always Dallas, thanks for watching.

@Ohio Offroad Yeah, it is a big overtaking to do what you guys are doing! Just remember, think out side the box. Nothing is normal. Full stuff and full stretch is key! You can cut and build around it.

This is awesome. Is your skid plate going to be flat with the frame? I've always wondered why all of the big companies always make their link mounts hang below the frame on the skid plate side.

Thanks man. It’s going to be a 1” drop at the center. I had to drop it down a bit just to fit the transfer case. I think that’s why most companies make bigger drops just to fit powertrain.

We just did a lot of calc on the 4 link calculator. And then figured out from there how to get as close to the number on the calculator
@samsanderson7159
@samsanderson7159 Жыл бұрын
I get how you figured the rear link mount separation at 25% 40" tires gives you a 10" separation. How did you calculate the spacing on the frame end for the link mounts? Is it just 10" of your tires height?
@Ohio_offroad_adventures
@Ohio_offroad_adventures Жыл бұрын
So the frame side links are a lot harder to figure out. Without diving down the rabbit hole too much, the frame mounts are what actually control your antisquat numbers. I was shooting for an anti squat value of around 60-70%. And after working in the 4 link calculator that I pulled from crawlpedia.com the numbers I got that worked best was 4.5” so we set them there. I have heard others say that you can get away with doing 10% of tire size on the frame mounts separation you should be good. But I wanted to do a more tired and true way of doing it.

Why is aluminum better for LCA's?
@Ohio_offroad_adventures

They are only better because when they bend the flex right back. Where steel DOM doesn’t flex back and stays bent.
