My finished top zipper piece was 17” not 14-1/2”. Didn’t you say to cut out two pieces of fabric 10X14-1/2?

The zipper would go down the 10" side of the fabric, so the 14" zipper works great. You can follow the photo tutorial here and may help clear things up a bit www.sewsimplehome.com/2023/06/diy-traveling-first-aid-kit-pattern.html
