Fitted a few Defender screens and always used the cheap Britpart seals, no problems whatsoever, when cutting the old seal be careful not to scratch the paint with the end of the blade, over time it will lead to corrosion behind the new seal. 👍

I have a windshield shop in Belize and I had a customer that brought us an aftermarket molding that he wanted to get installed on his Land Rover and we struggled and struggled and were about to give up. Found you guys on KZfaq and with your recommended hot water bath for the molding we were able to install it. Thanks. 🎉

Really helpful video guys, we need to replace the windscreen on our '87 2.5TD 90 at some point as it has a chip in it & has delaminated along the whole bottom edge (although it passed the last MoT like this, somehow) and the seal has perished badly along a good couple of portions. The wife was looking at fitting the heated screen version instead of the standard and we have been trying to decide the best way to get it fitted, either ourselves or someone like autoglass, but seeing this makes me think of giving it a go ourselves. Going to look for your post on wiring your heated one in now.

I've had a couple of attempts at fitting mine and now going to get someone in to do it. Cracked the original screen through rushing it and inexperience. Got another second hand screen (travelled quite a distance to buy it) and it was nearly in bar the last 6 inches of cord to pull out, and a tiny 'tink' noise and a crack from top to bottom. Cracked only on one piece of the glass (outer piece of the laminate - inner was perfectly fine). Well pissed off. Hind sight is a wonderful thing but I should have had a bit of pressure on the screen from the outside as I pulled the last bit of cord out.

Can you please produce a video on replacing the rubber seals on the eyebrow flaps? I'm sure there's a quick-and-easy way to do this, but haven't figured it out yet. Thanks for this wonderfully informative series 👏

I’ve used 3 different screen fitting companies that refuse to fit a screen if it’s not a genuine seal.

My windscreen man reckons my Defender was the worse car he had ever fitted glass to, I had a britpart rubber, which he claimed did not fit, so he glued the screen in place, looked pants, but did not leak. I the smashed the screen, and he ordered a new screen and rubber, was hreatly troubled, rang me up to say he would have to glue it in, something I declined. He reckened there was something wrong with my screen frame, that itwas distorted. I went to the workshop totale some diagonal measurements, and he had fitted it, albeit the rubber is a bitwonky on one side. He reckons the screen is under pressure, and had asked me not to come back if it needs replacing! Everyone says the Britpart rubber is OK, next time I think I will have to try it myself, hopefully there will not be a next time..
