DIY Floating Concealment Shelf / Mantle

Woodworking business or side hustle? In this video, I'm going to teach step by step how to build and distress this floating mantle. Keep in mind you do not have to distress these because everyone likes different looks! But primitive is in and concealment furniture is hot right now... so let's mash them up and do our thing! And don't take this video wrong... It's built for concealment of anything! Everyone loves a hidden compartment.

The cool thing about the RFID locks is that they sell RFID rings that look really nice. Then you have it on you at all times, never need to worry about a key card that is in the other room or in your other pants' pocket or a little one finding it.

Suhweet! I started building distressed mantles after I saw your video on building them, then I started incorporating concealment shelves into the mantle builds just like you’ve done here! I sold quite a number of them thanks to you. The one thing I did differently was leaving the French cleat system and making my own hinge system by drilling nylon bushings into the lower back outside corners as well as into the panel which lowers down. Then making steel pins to fit inside the bushings that go through the outside into the panel which then acted as a hinge. All I had to do then was put wood dowels in from the outside to keep the pin from eventually working it’s way out and presto a hinged compartment!
