Thanks so much for all the great tutorials. I bought a hamster for my adult son's birthday not realizing how much care they need. Being much smarter than me, he immediately began researching & pointing out the cage inadequacy/harmfulness, etc. It's hard not to be a bit confused! I want to make sure we're being responsible & purchase the right things for the little guy. But, we're already well over $100, so that's a factor. Thank you for your help. :)

Here is a tip for those of you that don't own a drill. put the baking tin on a thick piece of wood face up of course and hammer a big size nail in for the hole, sand the sharp edge of the hole down when you done.

I made this with the 50¢ plastic plates from Walmart. They come in the size I needed for my mice: 7.5”. I also just put the hot glue in strips on it for foot grips. Works great!

I recently found a new use for the wire wheels with the square wire. If you have a farm themed cage, take the wheel off the stand and lay it on its side. you can put a fake hay bale in it. I haven't attempted this yet but soon will.

Hi Erin! Ok so I have the opportunity to get a zoozone 1 for 50$.. It would be for my Syrian hamster. We have been looking for a big cage as my 30 gallon is 360 square inches but I want bigger.. 50 is a lot so I wanted your opinion. My mom says that I will find the right cage sometime but I it says that it has roughly 720 square inches of space.. What are your thoughts? Should I keep looking or get the upgrade from the 30 gallon.. Thanks :) others opinions are helpful too !

I made a platform for my hamster and I used hot glue. I tried my best to remove any access glue but I was wondering if it would be bad for a hamster if they ate a little bit of hot glue

Hi, i was just thinking that you dont have 2 use lollysticks, you couls use a gluegun and make littlelines with the glue and let it dry. Good idea?

I think it’s a good idea but under supervision as it probably isn’t good if they get it in their system because it could easily peel off

This is great but my concern is. I have a gerbil and he really loves to chew. So I don't think it's safe for him to be chewing those sticks when there is hot glue on them. And just the fact that he will Chew them alone because that means I'll have to replace them. If there was something else that I could put onto it instead if pop sticks. Like something he can't chew through. Then please let me know.

okay so i have a question, i plan on getting a hamster soon but, i sleep with a strong fan and cant sleep witout it & the only room i could even think about keeping a hamster is my room. would fan make a hamster cold? would it bother my future baby? i have asked some websites but they have yet to respond please help me. like so she can see

Hi there, I think it's fine to have the fan on. I turn on the fan when it's hot so my hamster doesn't die from the heat. I also sleep with the fan on and it has never bothered my hamster, in fact I feel like it helps her to sleep throughout the day too since any little noise wakes her up. :)

Just make sure the hamster isn't getting too much air. Cover the cage or just use a bin cage and don't aim the fan toward hammy it shoukd be okay

Plastic plates and scratch the plates with a sharp object so you make a really textured surface for them to get the wheel going. Tin probably isn’t the best for this.

i know my hamster was in a 3 inch wheel and i wanted to take the sleeping area out what as left in and i brought a flying saucer and she flew off even at playtime i was so scared but now shes alright so dont worry if that does happen.
